Season 5 of Overwatch 2 has made some big changes to Cassidy's magnetic grenade ability, and one fan shares an unbelievable moment showing this new grenade being used to stick a Pharah player from across the map. While Cassidy saw a slight change in kit along with the launch of Overwatch 2, his sticky grenade ability now functions just a little bit more like his original flashbang grenade did.

While still distinct enough, his new and arguably-improved magnetic grenade now slows targets that it sticks to while also applying the "hindered" status effect that prevents them from using movement abilities for a short period. With the release of Overwatch 2, Cassidy's magnetic grenade was much simpler in its functionality, dealing a decent chunk of damage by attaching to and exploding on enemies a short distance away. The often generous tracking capability of this grenade was already enough to make players feel frustrated by the ability, but the hero balance changes that came with Season 5 have responded to these concerns only by making the weapon's tracking even stronger while also removing the range limit.

As expected, many Overwatch 2 fans have already captured and shared some amazing clips of the new grenade in action, with the greatly improved range and tracking often surprising even the players using the ability. One such clip recently gained a lot of community attention on Reddit after it was posted by the user yigit148, which showed the Cassidy player tossing the grenade through the air seemingly at random. The player used the game's replay mode to follow the grenade with a third-person camera as it traveled across the map and over a building before sticking to and killing a Pharah in flight.

While this incredibly fortunate moment, in particular, is little more than a happy accident, other clips featuring Cassidy's new grenade in Overwatch 2 show that the ability doesn't always play fair. The grenade's ability to track often causes it to chase players around corners or while they're performing a movement ability such as a dash or dodge roll, and the new "hindered" mechanic has certainly sparked some debate in the Overwatch 2 community due to it presenting yet another form of CC in the game.

CC, short for crowd control, refers to abilities that directly impact a player's ability to move and posed a big problem in the original game where stun abilities were more commonplace. Many of the hero reworks that were brought with Overwatch 2 seemed to be made with the intention of reducing CC in the sequel, but the slowing effect on Cassidy's new grenade as well as the improved slowing ability of Mei's primary fire has made fans concerned about the gameplay in Overwatch 2 going forward.

Overwatch 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
