Overwatch 2 fans should be excited for Friday, November 3, as that's when BlizzCon 2023 officially kicks off. BlizzCon is Blizzard's big gaming convention that has been held almost every year since 2005. The event is a way for fans to come together and celebrate Blizzard's games, as well as get exciting updates on the company's titles.

Overwatch has had a major presence at BlizzCon for nearly a decade at this point, with Blizzard using its convention to provide fans updates on the hero-shooter. In 2019, this included the reveal of Overwatch 2. BlizzCon 2020 was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, though Overwatch 2 had a big comeback at BlizzCon 2021, with the company using the event to pull the curtain back on some of the sequel's most exciting new features.

BlizzCon 2022 was canceled in the wake of Blizzard's workplace harassment allegations, but the convention is making a comeback for 2023. BlizzCon 2023 will take place from November 3 to November 4, and fans should be able to expect updates on all of Blizzard's biggest current games as well as the company has planned for the future. Overwatch 2 should be no exception to the rule, though it remains to be seen exactly what about the hero shooter will be shown off.

Big Overwatch 2 Announcements Should Come on November 3

Come BlizzCon 2023, Overwatch 2 should be in the middle of Season 7 and will have likely wrapped up its Halloween Terror event. It's possible BlizzCon 2023 will be used to reveal the plans for Overwatch 2's Winter Wonderland 2023 event, but typically BlizzCon is used for more substantial announcements. It's possible fans will get a look at the next Overwatch 2 hero, or even learn more about the next batch of PvE story missions, but that's just speculation at this time.

Overwatch 2's first three-story missions were released as part of the Invasion update and despite controversy over their pricing, were generally well-received by fans. Blizzard previously indicated that the next set of Overwatch 2 PvE missions wouldn't be coming until some time in 2024, so maybe fans will get a tease for them at BlizzCon.

Ultimately, Overwatch 2 fans will just have to wait and see what Blizzard has in store come BlizzCon 2023. In the meantime, fans can also expect updates on other Blizzard games, like Diablo 4 and World of Warcraft. It's also worth pointing out that BlizzCon 2023 will likely be the first BlizzCon held under the Xbox umbrella, which could have some interesting implications as well.

Overwatch 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
