Highlights

  • Overwatch 2 has a large roster of 39 heroes, and as a result, some characters have been neglected when it comes to receiving battle pass skins.
  • The battle pass data shows that Ana and Junker Queen have received the most battle pass skins at four each, while others have only received one or none at all.
  • Surprisingly, popular heroes like D.Va and Reinhardt find themselves in the one battle pass skin category, while Brigitte has zero, so hopefully they get some love in 2024's battle passes.

With Overwatch 2 having 39 heroes to keep track of, it is no surprise that some of the game’s characters get forgotten when it comes to skins, with a recent battle pass chart showing as much. The fan-made images highlight how many legendary and epic skins the Overwatch 2 heroes have received via the game’s battle passes.

To be clear, battle pass skins are just one of the ways that Overwatch 2 delivers cosmetics for the game’s cast. Special event skins have released that are tied to limited time challenges players have to complete, while the in-game store regularly updates with new skins that can be purchased with real money. Additionally, each hero has at least a handful of outfits that can be purchased with credits, an in-game currency that can be earned for free. Still, this battle pass data is interesting, as it shows which heroes Blizzard should prioritize and which it should give a break with future battle passes.

Overwatch 2 Players Aren’t Happy About Brigitte Nerf

Overwatch 2 players aren't happy that Blizzard is planning on nerfing Support hero Brigitte in a future update for the game.

Reddit user and Overwatch 2 player Exval1 shared the battle pass data, which tracked all the battle passes the game has received thus far, as well as the upcoming battle pass for Call of the Hunt. Intriguingly, despite being a new hero, Junker Queen will have received four battle pass skins after Season 8. This has her tied with Ana, the only other hero that will have four battle pass skins once the next battle pass is released. Considering that Ana is statistically Overwatch 2’s post popular hero, though, it is not all that surprising that she has gotten so much love.

Several heroes are tied at three skins as well, those being Echo, Kiriko, Pharah, Ramattra, and Winston. A large portion of the hero roster finds themselves with two battle pass skins, showing that Blizzard has done a solid job of making sure that most of the roster gets some love with the battle passes. Considering that most gamers only play as a few heroes, this is wise on the studio’s part, as battle passes will only be enticing to those players if their character of choice gets some love. However, the spread of skins is not perfect, as shown by all the characters with a single skin.

Baptiste, D.Va, Junkrat, Bastion, Reaper, Sombra, Moira, Mei, Reinhardt, Roadhog, Torbjorn, Sojourn, and Zenyatta are all stuck with one battle pass skin each. While Roadhog’s rework has made him more viable, which has surely let to an increase in pick rate that could justify a battle pass skin, it is surprising to see names like Reinhardt and D.Va in this category since they are such popular characters. Perhaps most shocking of all is that there is a hero without a single battle pass design, that being the Support character Brigitte.

To be fair, Brigitte has received skins through other means, such as the Sparkplug outfit based on Overwatch 2’s PvE and the popular LE SSERAFIM collaboration skin. Still, hopefully Brigitte players - as well as fans of the many one-skin heroes - get something to look forward to in an upcoming battle pass.
