Blizzard shared more information about Battle for Olympus, the upcoming limited-time game mode joining Overwatch 2 on January 5. This new event will join the existing game modes available in Overwatch 2 to provide players with more ways to enjoy Blizzard’s FPS.

Just like its predecessor, Overwatch 2 regularly adds new game modes for players to have fun with between competitive games. While some of these game modes change daily, such as 4v4 Team Deathmatch or 5v5 Control Maps, some are time-limited and often coincide with holiday themed-events, like Freezethaw Elimination, Yeti Hunter, or Snowball Deathmatch, all part of the Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland event.

Battle for Olympus is a brand new time-limited event that will grant seven Overwatch 2 heroes supernatural powers inspired by Greek Gods. This new game mode comes with exclusive rewards that Blizzard didn’t reveal yet but should include cosmetic elements, voice lines, and sprays. Players only have two weeks to discover this new game mode and unlock its rewards, as Battle for Olympus will run from January 5 to January 19.

In the latest trailer for Battle for Olympus, Blizzard revealed more information about this new event joining Overwatch 2. Junker Queen gets powers inspired by Zeus, striking her opponents with lightning when she uses her Rampage ultimate. Ramattra can lift his enemies off the ground with water powers similar to Poseidon’s, while Roadhog can throw large rocks during his Whole Hog ultimate instead of his usual stream of shrapnel. Lucio is the only Overwatch 2 support hero to get new powers with Battle for Olympus, with a modification to his Soundwave that can now stun enemies. Two DPS heroes receive game-changing powers, as Widowmaker can turn people into stones just like Medusa and Pharah can move around and heal during her Barrage ultimate.

Battle for Olympus will kick off right as the Winter Wonderland event ends in Overwatch 2 and will replace those game modes for two weeks, offering new abilities to popular heroes and tweaking the Ilios map, which will add a marble statue of the character with the most eliminations at the end of the event. Battle for Olympus gives players a glimpse of new abilities they could expect for the highly anticipated PvE mode of Overwatch 2, even though Blizzard hasn’t yet revealed more information about this feature. The next limited-time event joining Overwatch 2 will be Lunar New Year 2023, which will run from January 17 to February 6.

Overwatch 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
