As many will surely know by now, Overwatch 2 is making the massive switch to 5v5 matches. With this being such a change, many characters need reworks to suit the Overwatch 2 style, and one of the biggest updates is for Bastion.

Bastion’s rework essentially makes him a brand-new hero, as it alters several fundamental aspects of the character. Bastion was always extremely niche and rarely saw use in competitive play due to his movement, so these changes are welcome. After all, once players learned how to focus a Bastion, they were killed quickly without having much of a chance to do anything. In Overwatch 2, though, Bastion is far more mobile, and a recent clip shows just how terrifying Bastion can be following the adjustments that were made to his kit.

The clip was shared by Twitch streamer and YouTuber @froggerow, and it sees the Overwatch fan calling Bastion “the most fun hero ever” following his big changes. In the clip, all of Bastion’s new abilities are put on full display. The clip begins with the Bastion player using their Tactical grenade to launch themselves over a rooftop, with the hero able to get a surprising amount of distance from this gadget. Once they land on the other side, they are able to take out the enemy Bastion since nobody would expect them to come from the angle that they did.

During this initial fight and throughout the clip, it becomes very clear that Bastion’s infinite ammo while in turret mode is a game changer. Combining this with a Tactical Grenade to create unique points of attack looks like a fun strategy, though with how quick the Bastion can gun down unsuspecting enemies, it is hard not to see him as a bit overpowered. Considering how massive the Sombra buff is, though, perhaps Bliizard’s goal is to make every hero significantly stronger in the next game.

The final part of the clip is perhaps the most ridiculous, as it sees the Bastion player wiping out several enemies on their own. Eventually, a Doomfist gives chase, but the Bastion gets around the corner and uses their ultimate. Anyone worried that Artillery Strike would be lacking compared to Tank Mode now have no reason to be concerned, as the clip from @froggerow shows that the projectile hits the ground almost right after it has been launched - giving enemies little time to escape. Since this video, @froggerow has shared several others, all of which showcase the upgraded Bastion in all his glory.

Overwatch 2’s beta is just days away, so more players will soon have a chance to try Bastion’s new kit. Based on this footage, the hero is incredibly powerful, so much so that some gamers may end up requesting a nerf before the game properly launches.

Overwatch 2 is currently in development.
