One resourceful Overwatch 2 player runs a test to see if D.Va retains a passive tank ability even when she is outside of her mech. Even though Blizzard officially launched the PvP side of Overwatch 2 back in October, the free to play service game is constantly changing and being updated. In fact, the biggest change from its predecessor is the fact that Overwatch 2 now utilizes a Battle Pass system, which includes new cosmetic content as well as heroes like the tank Ramattra.

In addition to seasonal content, Blizzard continues to provide frequent updates to Overwatch 2 to ensure the game remains in a healthy state. Alongside typical bug fixes, Blizzard has already brought back seasonal events like Winter Wonderland as well as the Halloween inspired Junkenstein's Revenge. Even among all of these changes, players continue to discover new elements to the traditional PvP gameplay, including passive abilities each of the class categories have.

While many Overwatch 2 heroes received reworks or new kits compared to the original game, Blizzard also gave each role unique passive abilities such as Supports gaining their health back after not taking damage for a short period of time. Tank class characters like D.Va and Roadhog have decreased knockback, though one inquisitive fan began to wonder if this passive also applied to "baby D.Va" or when she's out of her MEKA unit.

YouTuber KarQ tested this theory in a Season 2 edition of Overwatch 2 Mythbusters and as it turns out, D.Va does retain her passive outside of her mech. Using Lucio to test on Baby D.Va and Tracer due to their similar character models, Tracer typically flew back much further after getting hit with Lucio's Soundwave blast. The nice thing about this discovery is that it does help safeguard the more vulnerable D.Va from environment kills, though players should still be careful when outside of the MEKA due to being an easier target.

These sorts of discoveries have been fairly commonplace since Overwatch 2's launch in October. While many have been similar to this D.Va reveal, where players specifically test out certain abilities, others have come through playing the game. Charms are a new cosmetic addition to Overwatch 2, letting players add a small trinket to character weapons for more personalization. However, one Hammond player discovered that adding a weapon charm to Wrecking Ball is useless as the giant ball has the charm completely covered up by the game's UI.

Overwatch 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
