Overwatch 2 players who bought the Owl Guardian Mercy skin during the recent sale can get a full refund on their purchase and still keep the skin. This return is an extra bonus being offered because of a recent Overwatch 2 promotion via Prime Gaming.
On September 22, Overwatch 2 began another promotion via Prime Gaming. Through October 19, players with subscriptions to Amazon Prime can collect the Epic Owl Guardian skin for Mercy for free.
However, many players noticed that Overwatch 2 had recently offered a bundle featuring the Owl Guardian Mercy from August 29 through September 7. This bundle cost 1,000 Overwatch Coins, and unlocked the skin, as well as a spray and voice line. Fans who bought this skin during the promotion were understandably frustrated to have it given away for free less than a month later, so Overwatch 2 decided to give a full Overwatch Coin refund to all players who bought Owl Guardian Mercy during the sale while still keeping the items, even if they don’t have a subscription to Amazon Prime.
Unfortunately, this refund does not extend to players who bought Owl Guardian Mercy at other times. The Epic skin was originally added to the shop in January for a short time at the same cost. Due to the length of time between the skin’s original launch and this Blizzard promotion via Amazon Prime, players who purchased Owl Guardian Mercy when it was brand-new are out of luck.
Many players have praised Overwatch 2 for offering this refund. It would have been easy for Overwatch 2 to only offer this promotion to Prime Gaming members, or to not offer any restitution whatsoever. Though some players who bought the skin in January are disappointed they were excluded from the refund, nearly every player agreed this was a much-needed win for Overwatch 2.
Fans of Overwatch 2 who have never bought Owl Guardian Mercy won’t want to miss out on the chance to earn the skin for free. Players can visit the Prime Gaming landing to pick up the skin with the click of a button as long as they have an Amazon Prime membership, including a free trial. Those with long-term subscriptions should keep an eye on Prime Gaming for more freebies, as Blizzard has been giving away items for World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, Overwatch 2, and Diablo 4 via Prime Gaming almost every month. If gamers already have Prime, there is no reason not to cash in on these awesome rewards.
