While Outward features a plethora of armor and equipment, there are a vast array of skills that players can combine with these weapons to get hundreds of unique effects. While the Definitive Edition of Outward has recently been released, players of all kinds are creating their characters and choosing what skills their characters will wield.

Within the world of Outward, there are several skill trainers in addition to NPCs that will give the players unique and powerful skills. These skills are divided into subcategories, with weapon skills existing within the “active” skills. Some of these skills require particular weapons, while others require a boon to be consumed.

8 Vicious Cycle

  • Requirements: This skill requires the user to have an equipped spear.

Perks

Vicious Cycle lets players perform a high-impact sweep attack. The attack deals twice the damage and three times the impact. In addition, the attack also decreases the target's movement speed up to 100% buildup.

7 Moon Swipe

  • Requirements: This skill only requires players to have a polearm equipped.

Perks

Players will unleash two large sweeping attacks and several things can happen depending on the boons they have activated. If Rage or Discipline is not active, the damage is multiplied by 0.8 and impact by 1.5. If the Rage or Discipline boon is active, the damage multiplier increases by 0.5. If both Rage and Discipline are active, the multiplier will increase to 1.8.

In addition, both hits are considered separate hits, allowing players to inflict status effects on enemies.

How To Acquire

Players can acquire this skill from Burac in Cierzo for free if they have a polearm equipped the first time they leave Cierzo. Players can also purchase this skill from the Wandering Mercenary in Monsoon located in the inn.

6 Prismatic Flurry

  • Requirements: This skill only requires equipped gauntlets.

Perks

Players with this skill perform a quick hammer-fist attack, that adds an extra hit for each elemental boon that is currently active. This does not include the Discipline and Rage boon. This means players can hit an enemy up to six times, with each strike dealing 0.8 times the damage of the gauntlets.

How To Acquire

This skill can be purchased from Mavith in the Military District of Harmattan.

5 Strafing Run

  • Requirements: This skill only requires that players have a bow equipped.

Perks

With this skill, archers can unleash a wave of five arrows while running left or right. This attack works best when using the target lock options, but it can also be useful when dealing with multiple enemies at once. Depending on the type of arrows that are equipped means players can also inflict various elemental damages to multiple enemies.

4 Splitter

Perks

The biggest benefit to this weapon skill is that it adds immunity frames during its use. While other attack animations can be parried, blocked, and cut short by other methods, players won’t take damage while using the Splitter skill.

In addition, the damage is multiplied by the percentage of health an enemy has. If an enemy is at 100% health, the attack multiplier is 1.0 times the damage; conversely, if the enemy's health is lower, the damage becomes higher. The Splitter skill also grants an additional 15 points of elemental damage, if the weapon is imbued with elemental power.

3 Feral Strikes

  • Requirements: This skill requires the prerequisites Predator Leap or Piercing Shot, as well as for players to have expended a Breakthrough point on Survivor's Resilience on the Wild Hunter skill tree. Feral Strikes also consume the active rage boon.

Perks

Feral Strikes give players the ability to attack twice. Upon use, players will also inflict Extreme Bleeding and Pain on their target. Feral Strikes also give players a 1.75 damage and impact multiplier.

2 Vital Crash

  • Requirements: This skill only requires equipped gauntlets.

Perks

Players can use Vital Crash to quickly tackle their enemies. On a hit, the player deals 0.03 times the damage, which is then multiplied by how much health the player has. This means if a player has 200 health, the attack deals six times the damage.

In addition to damage, the amount of stamina a player has the same effect on impact. The only drawback is players will receive the Pain and Confusion status effects after the attack.

Players can acquire this skill from Bea Battleborn the Weapons Master in New Sirocco. Their shop will only become available if players have purchased the upgrade for the Gladiator's Arena.

1 Counterstrike

  • Cost: 600 Silver
  • Requirements: This skill requires players to expend a Breakthrough point in the Warrior Monk skill tree, as well as the prerequisite of either Master of Motion or Perfect Strike.

Perks

Using Counterstrike, players can attempt to parry an enemy's attack, and if the parry is successful, they are able to strike back with high damage and impact. Counterstrike has a 2.5x damage multiplier and a 3.0x impact multiplier.
