When it comes to this action-packed RPG looter-shooter, many players had plenty of time to get through the campaign and enter the endgame. However, Outriders is full of intricacies and unique gameplay elements that can't be found in other games of the genre.

This might make many players struggle to reach the endgame, and give up on the game before they uncover the majority of the content. Approaching Outriders with the mindset that it's just another looter-shooter may lead players astray. Additionally, being unaware of a few key practices might deter gamers from continuing to play Outriders in the future. Here are a few strategies to keep that from happening.

10 Dive Head First Into The Action

Outriders Mid-Combat

Outriders isn't a tactical shooter. As opposed to games like The Division, a defensive approach typically doesn't pay off, regardless of the class the player has chosen. Diving deep into the action and dealing as much damage as possible is the best way to stay alive.

In addition to the damage-tied healing system, most of the Anomaly abilities favor such an open approach. Those who play it safe will not be able to unleash their full potential, so jump in and get shooting.

9 Switch Around Between World Tiers

Remember: the player can change their world tier at any moment in the game. Changing to a lower tier when things get too hard is not a sign of weakness, especially if the player has a strategy to go with it.

For example, staying on the lower end of the world tiers to level up, acquire all Anomaly abilities and develop a unique play style before advancing to a higher tier is a perfectly viable tactic. Players who gain their footing with this strategy find that it will surely pay off in the long run.

8 Try Out All Of The Anomaly Abilities

All of the Anomaly skills found in Outriders are really cool and very useful. This is why it's quite easy to fall into the rut of only using three of them throughout the majority of the game, simply because the player can't imagine anything working better than what they're currently using.

Frequently changing and trying out different combinations of Anomaly abilities may lead players to uncover new, better ways of dealing damage. And in Outriders, dealing a ton of damage is the only thing that truly matters.

7 Switch Weapons Often

As goes the tried and true shooter adage: switching weapons is always faster than reloading. In Outriders, quick reaction times are crucial. Wasting valuable seconds on reloading in the middle of the action might just give enemies the time to finish the player off.

Regardless of whether the player is a Trickster, Devastator, or any other class, having a high-damage, reliable secondary weapon goes a long way in ensuring success. This is especially true in later stages of the game, where there isn't as much time or space to take cover and reload.

6 Try Out All Classes First

Players who find themselves struggling to enjoy or improve at Outriders may have simply chosen the wrong class. In this game, the player's class greatly affects your playstyle, healing, and the gear they should focus on using.

Trying out all of the classes before committing to one for the long run enables players to find the build that truly suits their personality and play style. Using an enjoyable class is crucial, especially in co-op, where teammates rely on each other's expertise to get them through difficult encounters.

5 Use Melee Often

Melee strikes are heavily underrated in Outriders. They deal a huge amount of damage, and can prove to be extremely useful, especially in tight, close encounters.

There are two kinds of melee attacks: regular and sprinting strikes. Aside from different animations, they also have varying effects and degrees of damage. The trickster's regular melee, for example, slows the enemies down on top of dealing damage. Meanwhile, the springing one affects not only the targeted enemy but also the wider area around them.

4 Don't Stay Still For Too Long

Many shooters allow players to pick a nice, safe spot in an area or on the map and pick out enemies from there with ease. Outriders is not one of those games. The staggering amount of enemies that flood areas ensure that playing hide-and-seek will not work. Sooner or later, foes will find you.

Another important factor that should incentivize players to move around during combat is the healing mechanics. For all classes, healing is directly tied to killing enemies and dealing damage. Close-range kills will restore the Trickster's HP, whereas the Technomancer recovers the portion of the damage they've dealt as health points.

3 Interrupting The Altered Is Key To Beating Them

The Altered are the toughest kinds of enemies out there. Much like the main character, they also have access to Anomaly abilities. These enemies can cause the players serious trouble, if they don't know how to go about fighting them.

The most important thing to keep in mind when battling the Altered is to interrupt their Anomaly skills as they get ready to unleash them. As the Altered often use these skills to heal themselves, interrupting them not only protects players from getting killed, but it also brings them closer to destroying the Altered.

2 Dismantling Items Pays Off

Once players get past the initial stages of Outriders, unlock higher world tiers, and level up their characters, they'll also gain access to better gear. Some of these have unique mods that, when dismantled, can be used in crafting to create powerful weapons that suit each player's style better.

On top of that, most of the time, players will get almost as many parts used as the in-game currency from dismantling as they would from merchants. This is yet another incentive for recycling gear instead of selling it off.

Finally, this may seem obvious, but exploration in Outriders pays off, even more so than in other, open-world looter-shooter titles. Given the game's linear, straightforward structure, a lot of players refrain from venturing off the beaten path. However, that's a huge mistake.

Straying from the path the game tells you to follow can lead to uncovering hidden crates with unique gear, sidequests. There are plenty of other secrets to find that will help players progress further, increasing their character's level or world tier.
