Outriders, the new third-person shooter from developer People Can Fly, is proving to be a popular choice with gamers. The game's appearance on Game Pass for Xbox is certainly helping many gamers jump in and check it out. With many people set up to enjoy a long weekend, players are wondering what the max level cap in the game is as they plan their time in the game.

The maximum level in Outriders is 30, and most players should finish the campaign having exceeded level 25. The game also contains a series of side quests and expeditions that will help players reach the max level of 30. Depending on player skill, this should take anywhere from 20 to 30 hours, per character they wish to level.

An important aspect of leveling up in Outriders is that killing enemies only rewards a small amount of experience.  The majority of the experience players need to level up comes from finishing campaign missions and side quests. Players who are looking to add a few more levels to their characters quickly should focus on running through missions as fast as possible.

While the level cap is important, as players will receive new skills and points to upgrade their characters while they level up, the difficulty in Outriders is dictated by the World Tier. There are 15 World Tiers in total, and players will unlock them as they play through the game, earning a separate pool of experience from each activity they complete. The higher the World Tier, the more difficult the content will be, but the player will also get access to better loot.

Players can set their own level of challenge by changing the World Tier in their menus, thus giving themselves a greater or easier challenge, depending on their mood or needs. The advantage of playing at higher World Tiers is an increased likelihood of getting Legendaries and rare crafting materials. Players should also keep in mind that the real difference-maker in how hard they will find the content to be is their gear level, not the level of their character.

It makes sense not to rush the World Tier progression too fast. While it will result in players getting more Legendary weapons and armor, they will then rapidly out-level that gear if they do not have the correct resources to upgrade it at the crafting area. It is a pretty fine balance between players bogging themselves down in difficult content and reach the max level cap as soon as possible. As with most games with RPG elements, it is better to wait until players have hit Outriders max level before they dive into the never-ending grind of trying to get better weapons and armor, which is where the highest World Tiers come into play.

Outriders is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
