Ori and the Will of the Wisps pairs a heart-wrenching and emotional narrative with an immersive Metroidvania-styled map and innovative platforming mechanics. The non-linear gameplay and open world mean the player is free to explore the environments at their own pace. The sheer size of the map offers plenty of sights to behold, with many hidden secrets and optional side quests for Ori to investigate.

The Midnight Burrows is an optional area in Ori and the Will of the Wisps. It is somewhat hidden, located southwest of the Inkwater Marsh and requires the completion of a musical puzzle to unlock. Here is a guide on how to get into the Midnight Burrows and how to reach the treasure inside.

How To Get Into The Midnight Burrows (Bell Puzzle Solution)

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Once Ori has ventured down to Inkwater Marsh and reached the Midnight Burrows entrance, they will see Tokk standing nearby. Players should talk to him first, as he requests help to find a stone tablet lost in the Midnight Burrows.

Behind Tokk is a stone formation. This indicates the order in which the flower bells need to be played to open the entrance to the Midnight Burrows. The heights of the stones correspond to the sizes of the flower bells. The tall stone refers to the left bell, the short stone is the center bell, and the medium-sized stone is the bell on the right.

The correct order to open the Midnight Burrows entrance is: Left, Center, Right, Right, Left, Center, Left. Ori can ring these bells by using the Bash ability in quick succession. If the player has performed this correctly, the way down to the Midnight Burrows should open, and they can progress to the next section.

How To Find The Stone Tablet In The Midnight Burrows

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Ori should drop down and activate the Spirit Well to the left before heading to the right. The Stone Tablet item Lokk requested is at the top of the cavern, locked behind a Keystone door. The Midnight Burrows is full of portals, so Ori must use their abilities like Bash to navigate. Use a Light Burst to reach the portal above, and find Lupo to buy a map of the surrounding area to see the Keystone locations.

The map also shows which portals are connected, highlighted by a faint dotted line. From Lupo, drop down to the portal below; it should spit Ori out with enough momentum to reach the next area. Below is the first Keystone. Collect this Keystone and run to the portal on the left. Jump across the ledge to the next section.

Drop from the ledge, and go through the portal on the left. Jump up to reach the wooden Lever to open a timed wooden door. Use Light Burst and Bash to leap through the door before it closes. This area has two Keystones in it. Use the portals to drop to the section below. Pull the Lever to lift the tree stump, collect the final Keystone, and head back to the Keystone door at the beginning of Midnight Burrows. The player should pick up the Curious Tablet for Tokk.

Head back to Tokk at the entrance of the Midnight Burrows and talk to him. He will reveal the flower bell code for the Spirit Tree to the right, allowing Ori to absorb the energy and gain an additional 25% damage for their attacks. And that's the Midnight Burrows optional area complete!

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is available to play on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
