During Summer Game Fest Kickoff live event today, the released date for the open-world indie gameSable was confirmed. In addition, the announcement was made as the lead singer from Japanese Breakfast performed "Glider," a song from the game.

The developer of Sable, Shedworks, is a two-person development studio based in the UK. After working on building apps and websites with other collaborators, Sable, first revealed in 2018, will be the team's first video game developed by the studio and could be a highlight among 2021 indie games.

Sable will be released on September 22, 2021, and the game will be available on various platforms. The game focuses on open-world exploration and puzzle-solving in a beautiful world, which was on full display during the musical performance. Though no official trailer was shown, a lot of new footage was shown in the background, and the live performance did a great job of portraying the atmosphere of the game. Sable is considered a highly anticipated game by many, and fans will be excited to learn the game's release date, which is right around the corner.

Summer Game Fest Kickoff featured many indie and AAA games and showcased many new trailers and gameplay, though Sable was the only game shown off as part of a musical performance, which helped the game stand out more. In the footage shown during the performance, the main character is seen traversing the world on foot, floating through the air, and riding on a vehicle which clearly demonstrates the developer's goal of focusing on creating a world to be traveled and explored. It also looks like players will be able to climb most surfaces similar to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which makes sense as the traversal in Breath of the Wild was highly praised.

2021 is looking to be a solid year for indie games, with more being revealed at the Day of the Devs showcase, which took place after Summer Game Fest Kickoff. Both events did a great job of highlighting smaller games alongside bigger titles, and this is important as 2021 is a big year for indie games and their developers. 2020 was a tough year for both AAA and Indie studios, but many indie developers managed to adapt to new circumstances faster than bigger studios due to Indie teams being smaller. So while bigger titles may suffer delays into 2022, gamers will still have plenty to play, thanks to the output of indie developers and new titles like Sable.

Sable is due out on September 22nd, 2021, and will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series X.
