Amidst the high-speed slashes, laser beams, and power punches, there's a pair of sisters that manage to make a name for themselves in the chaotic world of One-Punch Man. Their names are Tatsumaki and Fubuki, and they are known as the "Psychic Sisters".
However, despite being sisters who use psychics as their primary weapons, both Tatsumaki and Fubuki couldn't be more different from each other. They differ not only in terms of personality, but their physicalities are also the polar opposite of each other. That being said, the biggest difference between them is the level of strength. Tatsumaki is way more powerful than her little sister.
Who is Tatsumaki?
Tatsumaki is the 2nd ranked S-Class hero according to the latest assessment by the Hero Association. She is second only to the legendary S-Class Hero, Blast. She is regarded as the strongest esper in history. Her psychic power is so great, she can easily level an entire city without breaking a sweat. That is why she earned the moniker "Tornado of Terror".
However, contrary to her overwhelming power, her appearance is similar to that of a teenager. She is a petite woman with medium-length hair and slim figure. That is why she is often mistaken as a little girl, or as Fubuki's little sister, which is one of the things that can easily rile her up.
Excluding Blast, for as long as she can remember, Tatsumaki never met anyone who are stronger than herself. This is the reason why she often dislikes working in a group. Because to Tatsumaki, rather than helping, other heroes would only end up as a hindrance that would jeopardize her mission.
That being said, she would never let anybody die on her watch. Just like during the final battle of the Monster Association arc, she makes sure to create a barrier for every hero to prevent them from getting hurt due to her intense fight against the enhanced Monster King.
Who is Fubuki?
Fubuki is the 1st ranked B-Class hero according to the latest assessment by the Hero Association. Among other heroes, Fubuki is actually second only to her sister when it comes to pure psychic power. She even gained the nickname of the "Blizzard of Hell" due to her ability to cover a wide area of attack. However, since she is always inevitably compared to the overwhelming power of Tatsumaki, she ends up developing an acute inferiority complex and unable to harness her full potential.
Fubuki's incredible psychic power is actually strong enough for her to reach the upper rank of the A-Class hero, but she simply refuses to move up to A-Class. To Fubuki, rather than being a mediocre A-Class hero, she would rather reign supreme as the B-Class. Not only that, due to her inferiority complex, she decided to go a different route than her sister and began to gather talented B-Class heroes under her Blizzard Group. She believes in the power of numbers.
Unlike her sister, Fubuki is a young woman with average height and a curvaceous body. When comparing both sisters based only on outward appearance, Fubuki definitely looks like the older one of the two. For her regular outfit, Fubuki is often seen wearing a thick white fur coat over her dark green dress. After all, as the leader of the Blizzard Group, she likes to appear elegant and dignified.
Why Tatsumaki is Stronger Than Fubuki
There's no official explanation mentioned either in the original webcomic nor in the official manga as to why Tatsumaki is overwhelmingly stronger than Fubuki. However, there are several facts that have been unveiled regarding their past.
Both sisters have been able to wield psychic powers since they were just a bunch of toddlers. However, while it took a few years until the power finally awakened in Fubuki, Tatsumaki was already able to wield an extraordinary power since she was born.
During one of the sisters' squabbles in the original webcomic, Tatsumaki even says that when she first became aware of her surroundings as an infant, she was already more powerful than the current adult Fubuki. As a child, when Fubuki was barely able to lift small objects, Tatsumaki was already capable of lifting their entire school out of the ground. So just like Superman, Tatsumaki was born with great power and there is not a time when she is not stronger than everybody else.
Can Fubuki Rise Up to the Same Level as Her Sister?
According to Dr. Genus, the founder and head researcher of the House of Evolution that was destroyed by Saitama early in the series, there's a concept known as "Limiter" inside every individual. He said that the reason behind Saitama's absurd power is simply because he managed to remove his own limiter.
As mentioned before, the current Fubuki has no chance to even graze her sister. However, if she can somehow remove her limiter just like Saitama, then there's a chance that she might gain the power that enabled her to rise to the same level as her sister. But until then, Tatsumaki will always be astronomically stronger than Fubuki.
