The Monster Association Arc Begins

One Punch Man's longest and most important arc will be the focal point of season 3. This arc serves as the final point in all the build-up from the previous seasons, where the heroes of the world must face the terrifying Monster Association, which is an organization that has been operating in the shadows for years. This group stands as the direct opposite of the Hero Association as its goal is the eradication of humankind so that monsters can inherit the planet for themselves.

Starting from where season 2 ended, Garou is flown away from danger by Phoenix Man and dropped into the Monster Association Headquarters, where he comes face to face with the leader of the organization, Monster King Orochi. Here, Garou is forced to eat one of Orochi's monster cells to turn into a monster in order to ally himself with them in their assault against the humans.

With monster sightings and incidents becoming more and more prevalent in the world, the Hero Association has to gather its resources to formulate a plan that will help in tackling this issue. Moreover, the lore and mythos of the world of One Punch Man gets far deeper and more mysterious with the introduction of new incredibly powerful monsters and the rumors of a mysterious being called 'God'.

This mystery remains at the heart of this arc, as the Monster Association finally makes its presence known to the world and launches a full-on assault on humankind. This arc sees shining moments from most of the heroes that make fans fall in love with them even more, as well as the introduction of Blast, the highest ranked hero in the entire association, and hints at his secretive mission to face God.

It might be easy to overlook Tatsumaki, but One Punch Man's smallest S-Class hero is also one of the strongest in the series.

The Best Fights and the Strongest Characters

Since the Hero Association's top brass, the S-Class, are on the frontline against the villains in this arc, the Monster Association must reply in kind and fight with the strongest group of monsters ever seen so far, leading to some of the most intense and visually stunning fights in all of manga/anime. The true strength of both the heroes and villains is on full display as they show feats of strength that have never been seen before in the series.

Some of the notable clashes are Tatsumaki and Genos versus Psykorochi, a jaw-dropping three-way battle between Garou, Flashy Flash and Platinum Sperm, and the most incredible of them all; Saitama versus Cosmic Garou. Not only are these fights insane in terms of their visuals and how they are structured, but also their emotional impact, as characters show tremendous growth in both strength as well as overall development, keeping fans engaged from start to finish.

The spectacle in this arc is also second to none. Almost every single one of the characters gets their moment to shine and the stakes in their fights are higher than ever before, as sections of the planet get sliced open and entire moons are obliterated. The enemies are far more compelling than the ones that have come before and their clashes with the heroes are beautiful to witness in the manga, something which will be even more impressive on the screen.

The Best Antagonist in the Entire Series

cosmic garou

Although Garou has already been introduced in the series and served as the primary antagonist in the second season of One Punch Man, it isn't until the Monster Association arc that he truly gets his time to shine. Garou is an arrogant man who values his strength over all else and wants to beat every single hero to a pulp. Despite that, however, he is extremely likable due to his softer side, extremely cool design, and amazing fighting style.

The arc starts with him being offered the monster cells to join the association. Despite eating the cells and transforming into a more monstrous version of himself, Garou decides that he needs to be the ultimate evil to eliminate injustice from the world, and that includes defeating all heroes and villains alike. Though his pursuit is noble, the actions that drive him towards it are unjustifiable, adding a great deal of nuance to him and making him far more relatable for the fans.

One Punch Man: Who is Garou?

Garou has gone through an interesting journey since he was first introduced. Here's a closer look at what makes the 'Hero Hunter' tick.

Throughout the arc, Garou continues to evolve into a more monstrous state, and, with each transformation he undergoes, his design continuously gets cooler and cooler. These transformations are each more powerful than the last, due to which Garou can go toe-to-toe with stronger opponents as his monsterization progresses, and he continues to lose himself to bloodlust. This leads to him having some of the best fights in the series.

Garou's transformations eventually lead to a fight with his old mentor, Bang. He narrowly wins the altercation, but Bang does enough damage to him that he regains his composure and unofficially defects to the good side to help take out the monsters. However, this makes him eventually cross paths with Saitama. Seeing how he has gotten stronger than every other hero and monster, Garou realizes that Saitama is the final hurdle that he needs to overcome to become the ultimate evil, leading to their first fight which Garou loses quite easily.

However, in their second fight, Garou unlocks his Cosmic Fear Mode form with the help of God. This puts him on around the same level as Saitama and both of them engage in one of the most spectacular and jaw-dropping fights ever seen in fiction! Though Saitama eventually beats him, Garou cements himself as the second-strongest person ever seen in the series!

One Punch Man can be streamed on Amazon Prime and Netflix.
