One Piece: Zoro Novel Reveals Zoro's Past Before He Joined The Straw Hat Pirates

Zoro's past before joining the straw hat pirates is revealed in his new novel. Is this novel canon in One Piece?

In the case of Zoro, fans know that he wants to become the World's Strongest Swordsman. To do this, Zoro has to reach unprecedented levels of power, and it can be said that he has done incredibly well in this regard. Along the way, Zoro has also gained a lot of infamy, and with that, a very high bounty as well. However, Zoro's current bounty isn't anywhere near what his final reward in the story is going to be.

Zoro's Current Bounty In One Piece

Zoro Beat King To Gain A High Reward

Roronoa Zoro from One Piece

Zoro started his journey as a pirate in the East Blue Saga of One Piece. However, it wasn't until the events of the Arabasta Saga concluded that he received his very first bounty of 60 million berries. Back then, this bounty was incredibly impressive, and it only got more impressive as Zoro fought stronger enemies. In the Enies Lobby Arc, Zoro's bounty doubled and he had a total reward of 120 million berries on his head. It wasn't until the events of the Dressrosa Arc, which happened in the post-timeskip of One Piece, that Zoro's Bounty ended up increasing again. This time around, his overall reward rose to 320 million berries, which was quite significant. Zoro carried this 320 million bounty for quite a while, that is, until the Straw Hat Pirates arrived in Wano and decided to fight against Kaido and Big Mom's Alliance.

Guess I Might As Well Become The King of Hell

In the war of Onigashima, Zoro got a chance to test his skill to the utmost fullest, and he did incredibly well there. Zoro went against Kaido, and although he lost that battle terribly and was defeated, he still managed to scar the Yonko permanently. He was sent down after being defeated by Kaido, and there, he ended up fighting against King the Wildfire. In this battle, Zoro triumphed over King in an emphatic manner, although he was dominated terribly in battle until he figured out King's weakness. After the events of Onigashima wrapped up, Zoro's bounty was announced, as was the reward for the remaining pirates. Zoro received a bounty of 1.111 billion berries, which was second only to Luffy in the Straw Hat Pirates. Clearly, this is an incredibly high reward, and it officially puts Zoro among the elites of the One Piece world. Zoro is now a renowned pirate who will be feared all across the sea as one of the strongest commanders of Yonko Luffy. In Egghead, Zoro has shown that he has the capabilities of fighting very powerful opponents, such as Rob Lucci, and holds his own.

Zoro's Next Opponents

Zoro Has Many Powerful Opponents Left To Vanquish

That said, Zoro's fight against Rob Lucci was certainly not him at his very best. Zoro can go beyond these levels, and when he does, his bounty is going to increase even further. Fans need to take a look at what fights Zoro is going to be fighting next. For now, there are not any major swordsmen that Zoro needs to defeat in One Piece. That said, there could be characters that haven't been introduced in the series yet that Zoro will have to beat in order to reach the next level. For instance, the Straw Hat Pirates are going to Elbaf right now. There, fans will inevitably see them fight against some very powerful enemies. Elbaf is going to be a major arc, which means that there is going to be an adversary for Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates to defeat.

One Piece: Shanks's Important Role In Elbaf, Explained

Shanks has a huge role to play in Elbaf. Here's what One Piece fans should expect.

Zoro will get his chance to shine here, and whoever he ends up defeating will most likely be a significant step up from King. There are also many Marines involved in One Piece now. Zoro could end up fighting against an Admiral and surpassing him after giving them a good fight.

Ultimately, Zoro's goal is to defeat Dracule Mihawk. Zoro will have to fight against Mihawk at some point in the series and surpass him to become the strongest swordsman in the entire world. This battle is likely still far away, but eventually, it will come. When that happens, Zoro will then have to fight against Mihawk efficiently and defeat him in battle for good. It must be remembered that Mihawk's current bounty is 3.590 billion berries, which means that he is nowhere near his level at this point in time.

What Will Zoro's Final Bounty In One Piece Be?

Zoro Will Gain A Very High Bounty At The End Of One Piece

To predict Zoro's final bounty, fans only have to look at what Mihawk's reward currently is. As stated above, Mihawk currently has a bounty of 3.590 billion berries. This is a high reward, and it will most likely be surpassed by Zoro come the end of One Piece. It can be said that Zoro's reward is likely going to be anywhere between 3.5 to 4 billion berries. In fact, it is also possible for Zoro to surpass the 4 billion berry mark. However, one thing that fans can be absolutely certain about is the fact that Zoro and Mihawk's battle is going to be incredibly close. Zoro is not going to beat him overwhelmingly. In fact, this battle will likely end with Zoro winning by a nick of the hair, which means that their rewards are likely going to be very close.

If I Die Here, Then I’m A Man That Could Only Make It This Far.

Come the end of One Piece, Zoro will be in the 3 billion berry range, likely between 3.6 to 4 billion berries. A good prediction for Zoro's reward after defeating Mihawk could be 3.640 billion berries. This could simply be down to the fact that Oda often likes to play around with numbers. Zoro had a bounty of 320 million berries once, a shout for his bounty could be 3.320 billion berries, but that would be lower than that of Mihawk. As such, Oda could simply double 320 million berries to 640, and make his total bounty 3.640 billion berries. Of course, it could be something else entirely, but fans should expect a bounty between 3.6 to 4 billion berries, if not higher.

Regardless of what the bounty is, Zoro is inevitably going to be the strongest swordsman in the world come the end of One Piece and a Yonko-level character who can hold his own against the vast majority of the fighters. Zoro will be a master of Haki, and above all, a swordsman unlike any other, potentially wielding black blades at this point, which will solidify his status as the strongest in the world.

One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1117, is set to be June 17, 2024.
