Roronoa Zoro is the swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the most important characters in One Piece. Being the first person to join Luffy's crew, Zoro's importance in the series is paramount. He dreams of becoming the world's strongest swordsman by surpassing and defeating Dracule Mihawk, the man who currently holds the title. Zoro also aims to make Luffy the Pirate King, even more so than he wants to become the strongest swordsman. As a loyal right hand and an incredibly powerful swordsman, Zoro is one of Luffy's best subordinates.

Just as the Straw Hat Pirates have been making a great name for themselves, Zoro has been going from strength to strength as well. With the crew now being officially recognized as an Emperor crew, Zoro's status in the One Piece world has also risen to the next level. After the events of the Wano country arc, Zoro was given a bounty of 1.111 billion berries, which is second only to Luffy's 3 billion berry bounty.

Zoro's Former Bounties

Roronoa Zoro (One Piece)

Zoro is the second-strongest member of Luffy's crew and, as such, always gets high bounties. When Luffy received a 100 million bounty following the defeat of Crocodile, Zoro was given a 60 million berry reward for taking down Daz Bones, a famous assassin from the West Blue. Together, the two were the first people on the crew to receive bounties. During the Enies Lobby arc, Zoro fought against Kaku, the second-strongest member of the CP9. After taking him down in battle, thanks to his newly awakened power of Ashura, Zoro was given a 120 million berry bounty – double his previous reward. This made him one of the 11 Supernovas who arrived on Sabaody Archipelago with a bounty of 100 million or greater.

This also made the Straw Hat Pirates one of the only two crews with two members with a bounty of 100 million berries or greater. After the two-year timeskip, Zoro returned much stronger but didn't get a chance to fully show what he was capable of. In the Dressrosa arc, he defeated Pica. Following Luffy's defeat of Doflamingo, the entire crew was given a bounty raise and Zoro's bounty went from 120 million berries to 320 million berries.

Zoro's Feats On Onigashima

Zoro

In the New World, Zoro wasn't truly tested until the Wano Country arc. Fans knew this arc would be extremely important for him, given that he is a swordsman and Wano is a country of Samurai. Shortly before the Raid on Onigashima, Zoro was given Oden's beloved blade, Enma. With this sword, Zoro was stronger than ever before as its ability to draw Ryuo out of the user's body made it an incredibly powerful weapon. In Onigashima, he was given the chance to showcase what he is truly capable of. On the rooftop, he engaged in a fight against two of the Four Emperors in Big Mom and Kaido.

Faring quite well against both of them, Zoro impressed all eyes. However, the most impressive thing that he achieved on the rooftop was being able to scar Kaido. By tapping into his Conqueror's Haki unknowingly, thanks to Enma, Zoro became the only second man in history to scar Kaido, after Oden. Unfortunately, to Kaido, this wasn't much of an injury at all. Consequently, Zoro was defeated in battle and sent to the lower floors of Onigashima.

At this point, Zoro had already done quite a lot in the Raid, however, Oda wasn't done with him. After recovering from his injuries, thanks to a magical mink drug, Zoro got up once again and, this time, engaged Kaido's strongest of the three right-hand men, King the Wildfire, in battle. Although he initially struggled against King quite a lot, he was eventually able to grasp control over Enma. Thanks to that, the sword brought out his Conqueror's Haki and allowed him to coat himself in it. From this point onwards, Zoro's fight against King was more even and, eventually, he ended up defeating his adversary. This, however, came at a significant cost of his energy as he was left in a near-death state. Nonetheless, Zoro's incredible feats were there for everyone to see.

Why Zoro's Bounty Is 1.111 BillIon Berries

Sanji Zoro Jimbei read their new bounties

All things considered, Zoro receiving an incredibly high bounty of 1.111 billion berries is not surprising at all. After defeating King, who had a bounty of 1.390 billion berries, it would only make sense for Zoro to have a high bounty as well. Furthermore, it was clear for the CP0 to see that Zoro did quite a lot of the heavy lifting during the war. Zoro's bounty could have been even higher and it would still have made a lot of sense. However, the specific reason for Oda choosing 1.111 billion berries as his bounty has to do with Zoro's birthday.

As fans know Oda loves his wordplay puns and often incorporates them into both the chapters and, at times, the bounties as well. This was evident when he chose specific bounties for the Four Emperors in chapter 957. Here, Oda went with Zoro's birthday which is 11th November, or simply 11/11. This number is well reflected in his bounty of 1.111 billion berries. This is also why Sanji's bounty is 1.032 billion berries, as his birthday is on 2nd March or 03/2 on the Japanese calendar. Evidently, bounties don't always have to do with strength. Sometimes, Oda just wants to have fun with the numbers.
