  • The Beri Beri no Mi, Shari Shari no Mi, and Fuku Fuku no Mi are examples of Devil Fruits that are considered useless in combat.
  • The SMILE Devil Fruits, Zoans of Impel Down, and Kame Kame no Mi are among the worst Devil Fruits in terms of their limitations and lack of combat effectiveness.

Known as the treasure of the sea, Devil Fruits are a major source of power in the One Piece world. These fruits are extremely rare in the four Blues of the world, however, they're very common in the Grand Line. These fruits, once consumed, grant tremendous powers to people but strip them of their ability to swim.

Luffy has showcased some incredible haki feats in One Piece.

While all Devil Fruits in the story make their users stronger than they were before eating them, some of them aren't all that useful and offer very small advantages, making them some of the worst seen in the story so far.

Updated on February 23, 2024, by Rei Penber: Devil Fruits form the primary power system of the One Piece world and it is clear for the fans to see that Oda will always surprise fans with his incredible artistic imagination and new Devil Fruits. In the Final Saga, he has already revealed some of the most overpowered Devil Fruits to the fans. At the same time, there are other Devil Fruits that Oda has revealed in his story that aren't all that special. While all Devil Fruits offer some sort of advantage to their eater, there are some that simply aren't worth eating. As such, they can be considered to be the worst Devil Fruits in the series. While this list already goes over the vast majority of One Piece’s worst Devil Fruits, there are others that deserve to be added to the list, and, with that, this list has now been updated.

The List Is Not Ranked.

24 Ato Ato no Mi

User: Giolla

Giolla using the powers of Ato Ato no Mi

Used by Giolla, the Ato Ato no Mi is quite an interesting Paramecia-type Devil Fruit. This fruit allows Giolla to transform any human or object into abstract art. While this looks interesting on the surface, it must be noted that to deal with it, the person must be hit with a cloud, which is quite hard to achieve.

It can also be easily broken free from if the user is knocked unconscious, and Giolla herself isn't that great the user of this ability either, which makes this doubly weak.

23 Mato Mato no Mi

User: Vander Decken IX

Vander Decken throwing knives

The Mato Mato no Mi is quite an interesting Devil Fruit as it allows the user to mark something that they touch and then their attacks hit that mark regardless of where they aim at and how far they throw it from. It is a very niche ability that most Devil Fruit users will not ever need.

Of course, it fit Vander Decken IX perfectly in the Fishman Island arc, however, for a regular user, this Devil Fruit isn't all that good. Furthermore, the prerequisite of making contact with the user first is a big downside of this Devil Fruit. It is certainly among the worst fruits that one could have.

22 Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Albatross

User: Big News Morgans

0CDF884A-13B7-473D-B44D-06EC35739605

That Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Albatross is quite a special Zoan type Devil Fruit. As the name suggests, it allows the user to transform into an albatross and a human-albatross hybrid at will. While this fruit is a bird fruit, it does not allow the user to fly, which is a massive weakness.

Furthermore, the combat abilities that this fruit grants aren't all that special, since albatross isn't a bird that is specifically suited for combat. Among the Zoan types, it is certainly among the weakest ones that the fans have seen, and thus, for any user, this would be one of the worst fruits to have.

21 Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Tanuki

User: Sukiyaki’s Teapot

Sukiyaki’s Teapot one piece

As the name suggests, the Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Tanuki is a Devil Fruit that allows the user to transform into a Tanuki. This creature is quite small and not particularly intimidating. When it comes to the Zoan types of the One Piece world, this creature is absolutely nothing special.

Every transformation, be it the human form, the hybrid form, or the full beast form, that is offered by this Devil Fruit is useless, more or less.

20 Mushi Mushi no Mi, Model: Suzumebachi

User: Bian

bian one piece

That Mushi Mushi no Mi, Model: Suzumebachi is a Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows users to transform into a hornet at will. It is a decent Devil Fruit, however, when compared to other Zoan types, it is nothing special. Furthermore, it only allows the user to turn into a bug, which most people can just swat away. This Devil Fruit was eaten by a member of the tontatta tribe, Bian.

This fruit wasn't all that special in the Dressrosa arc, and it certainly won't be special in the future either. It didn't even manage to leave an impression on the fans and all its abilities are rather useless.

19 Mushi Mushi no Mi, Model: Kabutomushi

User: Kabu

kabu one piece

Another model of the Mushi Mushi no Mi, the Kabutomushi fruit allows the user to transform into a rhinoceros beetle and its hybrid that will. Once again, this is a fruit that gives the user the ability to turn into an insect and nothing more.

There is only so much one can do as a rhinoceros beetle, and in the grand scheme of things, it isn't all that special. When it comes to the Devil Fruits that exist in the One Piece world, this is certainly among the underwhelming ones that fans have seen in the story and that is why it makes the cut for the worst Devil Fruit in One Piece.

18 Awa Awa no Mi

User: Kalifa

Kalifa attacks Nami

The Awa Awa no Mi is a Paramecia type of Devil Fruit that was eaten by one of the members of CP0, Kalifa. This fruit was introduced to the fans when Kalifa was a member of the CP9 during the Enies lobby arc. It was gifted to her by Spandam and upon eating it, she became a soap human. Using this power, Kalifa can produce bubbles from her entire body and also use soap bubbles to defend himself from incoming attacks.

Using soap bubbles on others, she can remove dirt from their bodies and also strip them of their powers, leaving them in a weakened state, however, these bubbles are quite easy to counter. A strong gust of wind is powerful enough to blow them away and just by splashing some water on them, the effect of this Devil Fruit simply wears off. While the concept of this fruit is great, it is absolutely useless against any decent fighter in the One Piece world, which is why Nami easily found a counter to it as well.

17 Fude Fude no Mi

User: Kanjuro

Kurozumi Kanjuro smiling

The Fude Fude no Mi is also a Paramecia type of Devil Fruit and this one was eaten by Kanjuro of the Kurozumi Clan. This fruit allows him to produce ink and use an ink brush to paint whatever he likes and bring it to life. While the concept of this ability is amazing and Kanjuro's usage of it certainly was, it also requires a user to be a very skilled artist.

This means that if a non-artistic person eats this Devil Fruit, their drawings will simply not be all that effective. All of Kanjuro's drawings that were imperfect that he drew on purpose were frail. If a person with bad skills were to eat it, which would be the vast majority of the One Piece world, these drawings would simply not be effective at all, and would make this Devil Fruit quite useless. While Kanjuro did use it to great effect in the Wano arc, normal people wouldn't be able to do anything even remotely close to that and that alone makes it one of the worst Devil Fruits to exist in One Piece.

16 Fuku Fuku no Mi

User: Kinemon

One Piece Fuku Fuku no Mi Kin'emon Devil Fruit Wano

The Fuku Fuku no Mi is a Paramecia type of Devil Fruit that was eaten by Kin'emon of the Akazaya Nine. This Devil Fruit allows Kin'emon to grant clothes to anyone after he puts an object on top of their heads. These clothes can be anything that he imagines and This can prove to be very useful for infiltration missions, as was seen during the Raid of Onigashima. However, destroying these outfits is quite simple, and even light blows are enough to completely make them disappear.

This fruit has no value in fighting and all that it does is give fake clothes to the user themselves or to other people. In all his fights seen in One Piece, Kin'emon has never utilized his Devil Fruit and that is simply because he knows that this fruit is rather useless. The Fuku Fuku no Mi is certainly one of the worst Devil Fruits to have been introduced in One Piece so far.

15 Poke Poke no Mi

User: Blamenco

Blamenco takes out a weapon

The Poke Poke no Mi is another Paramecia Devil Fruit that was eaten by a member of the Whitebeard Pirates, Blamenco the Mallet. This Devil Fruit gives Blamenco the ability to create pockets in his own body where he can store anything and everything that he wants. Blamenco stores quite a lot of stuff inside, such as his absolutely massive mallets.

Any person who eats this Devil Fruit would have near-unlimited storage inside their own bodies, however, other than that, this fruit doesn't really do much, which makes it rather bland when compared to the many other powerful Devil Fruits seen in the world of One Piece. While it certainly does have utility and would make the user stronger in a way, it simply does not have anything going for itself when compared to most other Devil Fruits that exist in the world of One Piece. For that and for many other reasons, the Poke Poke no Mi is one of the worst Devil Fruits in the story so far.

14 Hoya Hoya no Mi

User: Daifuku

One Piece Daifuku Genie

Hoya Hoya no Mi is a Paramecia type of Devil Fruit that was eaten by none other than Charlotte Daifuku of the Big Mom Pirates. This fruit is quite interesting, as it allows the user to produce a genie from their belly once rubbed hard enough.

The genie itself is quite strong and can overpower some tough opponents for sure. However, the user's lack of mobility puts it among the worst Devil Fruits. Furthermore, the user has to rub their belly to get the Genie to work, and so if they are prevented from doing that, this fruit is rendered useless.

13 Smile Devil Fruits

One Piece smile devil fruit users

Smile Devil Fruits are artificial fruits created using a chemical known as SAD. These fruits are Zoan types and, as such, grant the powers of some animals to the users when they eat them. While these do offer some power, they are generally not as effective in combat as other Devil Fruits, and, in some cases, they can even become a hindrance.

What's more, SMILEs don't even guarantee power to the eater. Only one out of every ten people eating them is a success, meaning that the other nine are left without any powers, a permanent smile on their faces, along with the inability to swim. This arguably makes SMILEs the worst Devil fruits in One Piece.

12 Zoans of Impel Down

Awakened Zoans Impel Down

The Jailer Beasts of Impel Down all possess Zoan-type Devil Fruits that are yet unknown to the fans. These fruits are quite powerful, however, by the looks of it, they were force-fed to the beasts and have thus turned them into mindless creatures.

At the same time, these fruits have also been forcefully awakened, and while that does make them powerful, they lose all sense of themselves, which is simply counterproductive in combat. Their lack of critical thinking also makes them quite useless in many situations unless Sadi is with them to order them around, making the jailer beasts some of the worst Devil Fruit users.

11 Kuku Kuku no Mi

User: Streusen

One Piece Streusen using his devil fruit

Kuku Kuku no Mi is a Paramecia type of Devil Fruit eaten by Streusen of the Big Mom Pirates. This fruit allows him to turn anything inanimate into food with ease. While the food that he makes certainly does provide nutrition, it isn't tasty at all.

Big Mom considered all of Streusen's food to be bland, meaning it has very little to offer. In combat, once again, this fruit doesn't shine as much, as there is little one can do with food in a fight (unless, of course, one happens to be partaking in a food fight). Without a doubt, this is one of the worst Devil Fruits to be introduced in One Piece.

10 Baku Baku no Mi

User: Wapol

Wapol in One Piece

Baku Baku no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that was eaten by Wapol, the main antagonist of the Drum Island arc of One Piece. This Devil Fruit allows him to consume anything from people to weapons and buildings. Using Baku Baku Factory, Wapol is then able to incorporate these powers into his own body.

While this Devil Fruit makes him stronger, its powers are very limited and dependent on what Wapol eats. Most of the time, the power increment is not all that great.

9 Sube Sube no Mi

User: Alvida

One Piece Alvida after eating her devil fruit

Eaten by Alvida, Sube Sube no Mi is the third Paramecia-type Devil Fruit to be introduced in One Piece. This Devil Fruit turned Alvida into a slippery woman and made her quite difficult to take on in a fight. Everything thrown her way simply slips off her skin, be it a punch or a cannonball.

This fruit also made Alvida lose weight and become incredibly beautiful, as seen during the Loguetown arc. However, one big downside of this fruit is Alvida slips off every surface and needs shoes to encumber herself.

8 Ori Ori no Mi

User: Hina

Hina in One Piece Stampede

Another Paramecia-type Devil Fruit, Ori Ori no Mi was eaten by Rear Admiral Hina of the Marines. Its powers allow her to produce iron shackles from her body and trap anyone who touches them. As a result, the Ori Ori no Mi is quite useful to capture small-time pirates.

However, it isn't all that effective against strong people. Luffy was able to escape right through its powers during the Marineford arc. This fruit is also hard to control as Hina has, on occasions, trapped her own allies with its powers.

7 Guru Guru no Mi

User: Buffalo

One Piece Buffalo using his devil fruit to fly

Eaten by Buffalo of the Donquixote Pirates, Guru Guru no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows him to fly by giving him the ability to create propellers on his body. This Devil Fruit is very limited as to what it can do other than that. In Buffalo's fight against Franky, the shortcomings of this Devil Fruit were very clear.

It has very low usability and even the ability that it offers isn't special in the slightest. In fact, Buffalo was quite slow despite using the fruit to the best of his abilities.

6 Kame Kame no Mi

User: Pekoms

Pekoms vs Caribou

Kame Kame no Mi is a Zoan-type Devil Fruit that was eaten by Pekoms, a Lion mink who works for Big Mom. This Devil Fruit allows Pekoms to become a turtle at will and it doesn't have many advantages, as expected.

The shell offered by this Devil Fruit makes Pekoms as hard as diamond, meaning no sword or bullet can pierce him. However, to use its powers properly, he has to revert into his shell. In combat, Pekoms doesn't rely on it as it is very inconvenient.

5 Kilo Kilo no Mi

User: Miss Valentine

Miss Valentine from One Piece

Consumed by Miss Valentine of the Baroque Works, Kilo Kilo no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows her to manipulate her weight between 1-10,000 kgs at will. She can become as light as a feather and float away or as heavy as a boulder and crush others.

While this Devil Fruit is certainly useful, it is very easy to counter, as seen on Whiskey Peak. The user's attacks are linear and can easily be avoided while their movement in the air is extremely slow as well.
