Vivi is an incredibly important character in the world of One Piece. To the fans, she is just as important as any other Straw Hat and many consider her to be a member of the crew already, including Oda himself. Although Vivi has not featured in One Piece all that often after the conclusion of the Arabasta arc, her importance is still paramount, especially now that the story is in the Final Saga.

Vivi's Journey So Far

Nefertari Vivi in One Piece

Vivi was first introduced to the fans as soon as the Straw Hat Crew entered the Grand Line. At the Twin Cape, Vivi made herself known as a member of the Baroque Works as she was on a mission to capture Laboon and bring it back to Whiskey Peak with her. Soon after, the crew offered a ride to Vivi, who, at the time, was posing as Miss Wednesday, and took her back to Whiskey Peak. The ploy of the Baroque Works was made very clear moments later, and Vivi was revealed to be one of them.

Not long after, however, Baroque Works agents were actually sent to kill Miss Wednesday as her true identity had been revealed. As a big shocker to all the fans, Miss Wednesday was actually a princess of a faraway Kingdom, called Arabasta, and she had infiltrated the organization to gain intel on the leader. Taking on the responsibility of saving her, the Straw Hat Crew took her on board. Miss Wednesday soon revealed to the crew that her real name was Princess Nefertari Vivi and that she belongs to the royal family of the kingdom of Arabasta.

Vivi revealed the entire truth about her land and how it was being torn to bits by the uprising orchestrated by Crocodile, the leader of the Baroque Works. To stop that from happening, Vivi infiltrated this group and tried to do what she could to save her people. On the way to Arabasta, she forged a very strong friendship with the Straw Hat Crew, being called a part of the family itself. Together, the crew liberated Arabasta from the grasp of Sir Crocodile and Vivi was smiling once again. Sadly, Vivi decided to stay behind and rule her people, however, she promised that she would one day return and hoped that they would still call her a crewmate when the day came. As it so happens, the time for that is now.

Vivi As A Straw Hat

Vivi has always been a part of the Straw Hat Crew, even though she has not traveled with the group since the Arabasta arc wrapped up. The X on her arm is a clear indication of the fact that she is a part of this family and that they will do whatever they can for her sake, if she ever needs them. Vivi is an honorary member of the Straw Hat Crew, however, she will soon be an official member when she joins up with them. Currently, she is in the company of King Wapol and Big News Morgans. As fans know, Vivi was kidnapped during the Reverie and she was to be made a slave of the World Government, however, Wapol ended up saving her inadvertently and the two somehow made off together. They were further helped by Big News Morgans and currently, that's where they are.

The Straw Hat Crew knows about Vivi and the Kingdom of Arabasta, however, they don't know specifics just yet, which means that they have no leads. Once the crew does have leads, they will surely follow up on it and try to rescue Vivi to get her to join the crew. Vivi is surely going to be the 10th member of the Straw Hat Crew and she has a very important role to play in the Final Saga of One Piece.

Vivi And Lily

One Piece has only been adding to the character of Vivi lately and the recent events of the Reverie prove that even further. Imu, the sovereign of the world, who was recently introduced in the story, was seen during the Reverie arc with a picture of Princess Vivi in their hand. In the Room of Flowers, Imu had cut down the pictures of Luffy, Blackbeard, and Shirahoshi. In their hand, they carried a picture of Vivi and went off somewhere looking at it, signifying a sort of connection with her.

In One Piece 1085, it was revealed that Vivi's ancestor, Queen Lily, was the ruler of the land of Arabasta at one point. She was one of the Founding 20, yet she did not want to become a Celestial Dragon. Instead, she wanted to go back to her people and rule as she owed them that. Surprisingly, Lily met a tragic fate on the way back to Arabasta and never made it home. Her brother ended up taking over her responsibilities and nothing more is known about her. Soon after, it was also revealed to the fans that Lily made a big blunder in the past that spread the Poneglyphs all over the world. Imu believed this to be a blunder, however, it appears that this was actually intentional.

Lily chose to spread the Poneglyphs all over the world and she wrote a letter that has, since then, been passed down the royal family of the Kingdom of Arabasta, stating that the Poneglyphs must be protected at all costs and the Dawn of the world shall eventually come. The letter was signed by Nefertari D. Lily, confirming her as a member of the D clan as well. This explains why Imu was obsessed with Vivi and also means that she is a member of the D clan herself. Her importance in the final arc is going to be massive.

Vivi In The Final War

Nefertari Vivi

One Piece is currently in its final saga and from here on out, the story is going to get more intense than ever before. The fact is that Vivi is going to be central to th story, meaning that she's going to be a very important character going forward. Oda himself teased Vivi, Sabo, and Hancock to be very important to the final act of his story and Vivi is likely going to be among the most important ones here. This is simply because she is a member of the Straw Hat Crew and she also bears the D initial.

At the same time, she also has a familial history with Imu, the sovereign of the world, who will eventually be taken down in the Final War to come. After joining up with the Straw Hat Pirates, Vivi will be key in the arc where the World Government is challenged. A Great War is soon to ensue in the world of One Piece and the power of the Celestial Dragons is going to be challenged. Vivi is going to be extremely important here.

As a member of the crew, she is going to fight to her very best. At the same time, Vivi is also a Queen now, Since King Cobra is dead. She has more power and importance than one would realize and she's certainly going to be a key figure, given that those of Arabasta have a deep connection to the Ancient Kingdom. As a member of the D clan, Vivi is sure to find out the mysteries about the people of the D. and her very own ancestor, Lily as well. She is likely going to be with the crew when they reach Laugh Tale and that is certainly something that the fans would love to see.
