The Blackbeard Pirates are one of the most fearsome groups in the world of One Piece. The crew was established recently, after the defection of Marshall D. Teach from the Whitebeard Pirates crew after he murdered the 4th Division Commander, Thatch, and stole the Yami Yami no Mi. Jumping ship, he then went to the Paradise half of the Grand Line and invaded Drum Island and, slowly, gained a lot of infamy. Blackbeard had, at some point, calculated each and every step of his journey. In the Grand Line, he was seen having amassed some really powerful crewmates, four of which are known to be the cornerstone of the Blackbeard crew. These include Jesus Burgess, Lafitte, Doc Q, and Van Augur.
With time, the Blackbeard Pirates have amassed some even stronger crewmates and now, they are feared all over the world of One Piece as one of the Yonko crews. Under Blackbeard are the Ten Titanic Commanders and Van Augur is one of his most trusted men. As fans know already, the Blackbeard Pirates are known to have acquired some of the most powerful Devil Fruits in the story and, recently, Van Augur's Wapu Wapu no Mi was introduced.
What Is The Wapu Wapu No Mi?
The Wapu Wapu no Mi is a Paramecia type of Devil Fruit that the Blackbeard Pirates stole from someone. The former user of this ability remains unknown, however, it was likely someone famous as only then would Blackbeard be able to hunt it down. After acquiring this Devil Fruit, the power was bestowed to Van Augur, and using it, he has become a tremendously fearsome fighter of the crew. The abilities of this Devil Fruit are quite easy to figure out. After all, a mere glimpse at its name is enough to tell the reader that this fruit allows the user to employ the power of warping. Simply put, the Wapu Wapu no Mi allows the user to teleport themselves and all those in the vicinity to a nearby location at will.
Undoubtedly, this is one of the most dangerous powers in the One Piece world as it simply breaks the laws of space and time. Although no limitations have been imposed on its powers yet, there are likely to be quite a few. Firstly, Van Augur's power must drain his stamina. On top of that, it is also a given that this power can only teleport the user to places that are nearby. As such, places that are far off on different seas cannot be accessible. When the Blackbeard Pirates ambushed the Heart Pirates on a sea in the New World, its powers were seen in full effect. Van Augur, the user of this Devil Fruit, was seen utilizing the powers of warping to teleport his crewmates while giving chase to Law. Thanks to this fruit, the crew was able to force him to engage in combat.
How The Wapu Wapu No Mi Aids Van Augur
Although the Wapu Wapu no Mi is extremely powerful, not everyone can wield its powers effectively. For someone like Van Augur, who is a sniper first and foremost, using the powers of this fruit effectively can be a little tricky. However, fans must note that Augur is an extremely smart character and, thus, should be able to make use of the Wapu Wapu no Mi to aid his sniping skills even further. By warping, he can easily reduce the distance between himself and the target and make sure that his aim lands every single time. What's even more interesting is the fact that this fruit drastically improves the unpredictability of its user. Although it would most likely come at the cost of great stamina, Augur can keep teleporting all over the battlefield and, as such, his opponent would not be able to track where the shot would come from.
Making use of his tremendous sniping skills and, potentially, powerful Armament Haki, this fruit makes Van Augur a force to be reckoned with. It is also an incredible support ability, as seen in the previous One Piece chapters. It can allow Van Augur to summon any of his crewmates instantly onto the battlefield. This can give him an unfair advantage in battles and, as seen in the fight against the Heart Pirates, can allow him and his crewmates to outnumber the enemy. Undoubtedly, the Wapu Wapu no Mi is extremely overpowered.
The Future Of Van Augur
Van Augur has already established himself as a mighty powerful pirate. He is the Captain of the Third Ship of the Blackbeard Pirates and with the powers of the Wapu Wapu no Mi, he's become even more of a menace. For now, he is engaging the Heart Pirates in combat. However, his ultimate enemy is most likely going to be Usopp of the Straw Hat Pirates. It is also possible for him to clash against Yasopp of the Red Hair Pirates, however, that fight certainly won't be his last.
Usopp is the sniper of the Straw Hat Pirates and, given that Blackbeard will eventually confront Luffy for the prize of the One Piece, it only makes sense for Usopp to take down Augur as well. Van auger will most likely be the most difficult fight that Usopp will ever have fought in his entire life. His ability to warp immediately to different locations would mean that Usopp's Observation Haki would need to be at its very best. In fact, this could very well help Usopp to awaken Future Sight Observation Haki in order to predict where Augur would warp to next. This fight is likely going to be one of the most intense ones in the entire story and one that fans are already looking forward to.
