One Piece 1118: What To Expect From The Chapter

One Piece brings back into action old beloved characters in chapter 1118. The Iron Giant is about to be defeated.

These are swords that belong to the Supreme Grade class and fans have only seen a handful of these weapons in One Piece. Now, Oda has introduced yet another powerful Supreme Grade weapon, and this one belongs to one of the Five Elders, Saint Ethan Baron V. Nusjuro. This weapon, of course, is the Shodai Kitetsu.

The Kitetsu Blades Of One Piece

The Kitetsu Swords Are Cursed And Bring Horrible Luck

Over the years, fans have seen quite a lot of powerful cursed blades in One Piece. However, among these special blades, the one that stands out arguably the most is the Kitetsu line of swords. Fans know these blades to be extremely special. These Kitetsu swords were first introduced in the Loguetown Arc. There, it was in possession of none other than Ipponmatsu. In his shop, the Sandai Kitetsu somehow found its way. Zoro was the one who ended up buying the sword, even though Ipponmatsu begged him not to take it.

Many famous swordsmen of the past have suffered tragic deaths while carrying the Kitetsu swords around!

Zoro ended up testing his own luck against the curse of the sword and won. This was a clear sign that he was a worthy rival for the sword and someone who could actually control and wield it. Ipponmatsu ended up giving him Yubashiri as well, and it was certainly incredibly exciting for Zoro. Zoro did win out against the curse of the blade, but Ipponmatsu clearly said that the Kitetsu blades crave blood. Essentially, every user of this blade ends up dying a very brutal death and the one responsible for this death is none other than the blade itself. This is what makes the Kitetsu blades cursed.

In the Wano Country Arc, Shimotsuki Kozaburo, who had illegally left Wano and settled in the Shimotsuki Village in the East Blue clearly mentioned that there is no such thing as a cursed sword. It is just that the sword has not had a proper wielder. Every sword craves blood in one way or another. They are weapons to kill, and those who fail to utilize the weapon properly end up calling them cursed.

One can clearly see that the Kitetsu line of blades that Oda has displayed quite a lot in One Piece are extremely special and that their curse is extremely strong, which means that none have been able to tame them properly. That said, fans certainly did get to see quite a lot of these powerful blades in action, mostly through Zoro. Zoro has utilized the power of the Sandai Kitetsu right from the East Blue Saga, all the way up to the current events of Egghead Island Arc.

In the Wano Country Arc, fans got to see the Nidai Kitetsu, which is yet another powerful blade, and one with a stronger edge as well as a stronger curse than the Sandai Kitetsu. This blade was crafted by Kotetsu, the ancestor of Tenguyama Hitetsu, better known as Kozuki Sukiyaki.

With two generations of the Kitetsu blade covered, that brings one to the very last blade, which is the Shodai Kitetsu. This is the strongest of them all, and while the Nidai Kitetsu belongs to the 21 Great Grade Swords of the One Piece World, the Shodai Kitetsu belongs to the Supreme Grade Sword class, which means that it is one of the 12 most powerful blades in the entirety of One Piece. This blade is the strongest of the Kitetsu line, and it possesses the sharpest and the finest edge of them all. At the same time, the curse that this blade carries is the strongest as well.

The Power of Shodai Kitetsu

The Shodai Kitetsu Is A Very Special Blade

When it comes to the Shodai Kitetsu, fans know that it is the strongest of this line of blades. The kitetsu blades span over three generations, with each generation of the blade getting weaker. This essentially means that the Sandai Kitetsu, which is the third generation, is the weakest of them all. The strongest of the bunch is the Shodai Kitetsu, which is the one that was forged in the beginning. This blade is absolutely stunning. It is a work of art, crafted by an unknown individual, potentially the same guy who crafted Nidai Kitetsu, which is Kotetsu, or perhaps his ancestor. The power of this blade is immense. Fans have seen V. Nusjuro, who is one of the Five Elders, wield this sword. Only someone of the caliber of a Yonko or higher can wield this blade. This is because Supreme Grade Weapons cannot be wielded just by anyone.

One Piece: Why Shirahoshi Is The Key To The Final Saga

Shirahoshi is one of the most powerful One Piece characters right now. She will have a major role in the final saga.

In the Egghead Island Arc, Nusjuro utilized this blade brilliantly. He was able to immobilize all the Pacifistas on the island in the blink of an eye, without actually cutting through them. This ability of choosing to cut what he wants with his blade is a true mark of a skilled swordsman who knows the true art of swordsmanship. This also shows that he has great control over his Haki, and that should not come as a surprise to the fans. The Kitetsu blade demands someone of this caliber as its wielder.

Furthermore, fans also know that the Shodai Kitetsu is extremely large in size. In terms of the slashes that it can send out, the speed behind them, as well as the power of the slashes, is far beyond the vast majority of the swords that fans have seen in One Piece. Its edge is on the same level as the likes of Yoru.

How Strong Is Shodai Kitetsu Under V. Nusjuro?

V. Nusjuro's Sword Is In A League Of Its Own

With the power of the Shodai Kitetsu, fans got to see Nusjuro do some absolutely incredible things. As mentioned earlier, he was able to render all the Pacifistas on Egghead Island out of function. Simply using the freezing power that he's somehow able to channel through this blade, he made it so that they couldn't function at all despite being cut. At the same time, he was able to chop the front of the Elbaf ship with ease, and had it not been for the Straw Hat Pirates, he would most likely have killed Bonney as well.

I'm not taking a detour. That monster is heading right for you. There's something special about his presence!!

Quite easily, his biggest feat as a swordsman in the Egghead Island Arc is to chop the entirety of the Labophase in half. Using his immense strength and swordsmanship skills, he sent a slash that was so strong that the entirety of the Labophase was split in two. This is essentially proof of the fact that Nusjuro can bifurcate an island with ease with his swordsmanship skills and that he truly is terrifying. Fans will definitely get to see more of him using this Supreme Grade sword later down the line.
