The Thousand Sunny will be undergoing a drastic change - bearing the name, Sunny-kun. The shared character designs also hint at the possibility that Sunny-kun can talk and will probably share a great deal for fans to absorb in the prospective One Piece movie. To note, Sunny-kun’s voice actor wasn’t mentioned, so it is not confirmed that the Straw Hats ship can talk; however, it is a feasible possibility.Even though the Thousand’s Sunny new form was announced, the Twitter handle did not reveal details on the ship’s transformation process. Regardless, fans can look forward to the new change since the transformation process will keep everyone guessing, increasing the thrill of the incoming movie. Tracing the Thousand Sunny back to its origin, fans will remember that Franky's greatest creation first made its appearance in Chapter 436 of One Piece manga. Coupled with the inputs of the Galley-La foremen, the Thousand Sunny was created out of Adam Wood, a highly durable material that allows the ship to sail the Grand Line with ease and finesse.
The Thousand Sunny was a replacement for the Straw Hat's first ship, Going Merry, which was destroyed in Enies Lobby Arc. On different occasions, Going Merry was able to communicate its heartfelt desire to the crew, so it's possible that Oda teased fans about the future possibilities of the Straw Hats' second ship. The Thousand Sunny has been the Straw Hats' multi-purpose ship, and its sturdy structure allowed the pirates to pull through even in difficult situations. The ship has been their reliable vessel, even till now, in the perilous New world – Wano Country.
Sunny-kun is one of the biggest developments to look out for in One Piece Film: Red and the ship's personality will most likely add to One Piece’s greatness. Also, it might be among the key factors that will make One Piece Film: Red the best One Piece movie ever.
