Roronoa Zoro has been involved in some of the most incredible fights in One Piece ever since the beginning of the story. Once the Straw Hat Pirates crossed into the New World, the power of the enemies grew significantly and, with that, the pirate crew had to face several difficult challenges.

Zoro will surpass these powerful swordsmen in the final saga of One Piece.

Of course, Zoro, who's usually at the forefront of things when it comes to combat-related situations, engaged in many incredible battles. While some were just skirmishes and didn't have an outright winner, others required Zoro to best his enemies and emerge as the victor.

6 Hyouzou

Arc: Fishman Island

Hyouzou vs zoro one piece

Zoro versus Hyouzou happened during the Fishman Island arc of One Piece. During this arc, Zoro got the opportunity to showcase his growth during the timeskip to the fans. Of course, much like every other Straw Hat, Zoro was not pushed to his limits in this arc, and, despite that, he was able to take down a very powerful foe. Hyouzou was one of the most powerful members of the New Fishman Pirates.

When he took his steroids, he hit a completely new level of power and his poison was quite strong. However, despite all that, he was helpless in front of Zoro and was defeated without the Straw Hat Swordsman putting any real effort into the fight. This just went to show the level that Zoro had hit during the timeskip.

5 Gyukimaru

Arc: Wano Country

Gyukimaru in his monk form

Gyukimaru was Zoro's enemy during the second act of Wano and he attacked him because the Straw Hat swordsman possessed the famed sword Shusui. Gyukimaru collected weapons in Ringo, and naturally, since Zoro had three swords, he wanted to take his blades as well.

Zoro would not let that happen and these two swordsmen engaged in a proper duel. However, eventually, Zoro was able to somewhat best him. Unfortunately they never got to finish their fight as due to many interruptions, Zoro had to put his focus elsewhere. Nonetheless, he was the dominant force in the fight and was technically the winner.

4 Pica

Arc: Dressrosa

Pica one piece

An Elite Officer of the Donquixote Pirates, Pica was quite powerful and he fought Zoro in the Dressrosa arc of One Piece. Pica had the power of the Ishi Ishi no Mi and using this ability, he could assimilate into stone and control it at will. Pika was not all that powerful himself, however, his Devil Fruit ability made it difficult for anyone to take him down.

However, Zoro showed his superior swordsmanship skills by chopping down his giant statue and, then, isolating him inside his stone, forcing him out, and cutting him down with his newly developed Haki. Undoubtedly, Zoro had hit new levels as a swordsman during the Dressrosa arc.

3 Apoo

Arc: Wano Country

Apoo

Scratchmen Apoo, a member of the Worst Generation, was one of the many enemies that Zoro faced in the Wano arc. Once the raid on Onigashima began, Zoro and many other pirates targeted Apoo simply because he held the cure to the Ice Oni virus that Queen spread on the Performance Floor. While Apoo did well to hold off many assaults that landed on him from all directions, Zoro ultimately resorted to a sneak attack on him and took him by surprise, cutting through him and attaining the cure.

Technically, Zoro won this battle, however, it must be noted that Apoo was up just a few seconds later and started fighting other characters once again. This just goes to show the incredible resilience that Apoo has himself, yet, when compared to Zoro, he isn't all that powerful.

2 Kamazo

Arc: Wano Country

Killer disguised as Kamazou

Kamazo, better known as Killer, was one of the many enemies that Zoro faced in Wano. Kamazo was working for Orochi in order to secure Kid's freedom and he was force-fed a SMILE Devil Fruit. By this time, he had completely lost his sanity and was not in the proper state of mind, as a result.

He was much weaker than his original self and did not even have his preferred choice of weapon either. Nonetheless, he did end up fighting against Zoro and fared quite well until Zoro took one of his scythes from him. He then managed to land a powerful Rengoku Onigiri on him, defeating him in the process. However, Zoro himself collapsed as well. One could argue that this fight was a tie, however, since Zoro landed the final blow, he was the arguable winner.

1 King

Arc: Wano Country

King One Piece

Of course, the strongest enemy that Zoro has fought and defeated in the New World so far is King the Wildfire, one of the Three All Stars of Kaido's Beast Pirates. King was quite powerful and, thanks to the Lunarian abilities, cutting him down was quite difficult. King also possessed incredible Devil Fruit abilities, which made it so that he recovered fast from injuries.

King versus Zoro was quite a balanced fight. In fact, King was actually dominant for the vast majority of it. Towards the very end, Zoro figured out his secret and King was not able to tank the attacks that Zoro threw his way, leading to his defeat.
