The fans did not expect the Five Elders to be revealed as major villains here; however, against all expectations, the Five Elders were summoned to this island where they played the role of major antagonists. One Piece: Zoro Novel Reveals Zoro's Past Before He Joined The Straw Hat Pirates

Zoro's past before joining the straw hat pirates is revealed in his new novel. Is this novel canon in One Piece?

In fact, they even have a shout for being the strongest, and this is simply down to the fact that they are seemingly Immortal. They recover from whatever damage they take, and at the moment, defeating them seems impossible. However, there might be a key to actually damaging them which Oda will reveal in the upcoming chapters.

The Strength Of The Elders

The Elders Possess Powers Of The Highest Level

When it comes to the strength of the Five Elders, fans know that these are massively powerful individuals. At one point, fans expected them to be just political figures with no actual power. However, a good portion of the fans always believed that the Five Elders will be very strong, especially since Imu was introduced. Anyone who would be tasked with guarding the greatest power in the entire world had to be strong, and when the Egghead Island arc finally introduced them to the fans, they knew that these individuals were not to be messed with.

It is useless!! These guys cannot die!! - Luffy

As soon as Saturn came to Egghead, fans knew that his powers were on a completely different level. It can easily be said that Saturn's powers were on the same tier as the likes of the Yonko. In fact, Saturn was even able to fight against Luffy, which confirms that. Luffy even ran out of Gear 5, and Saturn was just as fresh as he was when he stepped foot on Egghead. When the remaining Elders came, fans also got to see a glimpse of their powers.

All of them impressed in their own way, with Ju Peter impressing the least. However, regardless, every single Elder is special in their own way, with some even so tough, like Warcury, that even Luffy in Gear 5 cannot seemingly damage him. The strength tier of the Five Elders is quite clearly incredibly high. It would be stupid to assume that they are not as strong as the Emperors of the Sea, and given that they are immortal, they are possibly even higher.

The Immortality Of The Elders

The Biggest Power Of The Elders Is Their Immortality

Quite easily, the biggest power of the Five Elders is that they are immortal. These are massively powerful individuals in the One Piece world who seemingly cannot die. This was first seen in the Egghead Island arc, when the likes of Bonney tried to stop Saturn, but his injuries simply healed. Later on, when Kuma arrived, he punched Saturn so hard that his face ended up breaking. When that happened, Saturn, once again, regenerated as if it was nothing. The fight against Luffy ended up doing the same to him. Luffy did a tremendous amount of damage to Saturn, but he recovered every single time. Even Kizaru was not able to take all the damage that Luffy was dishing out, yet to Saturn, it was almost as if Luffy wasn't even doing anything.

Nothing works on them! It doesn't matter, they're immortal!

When the remaining Elders came, some of them suffered even more damage than Saturn. For instance, Ju Peter was chopped up into multiple pieces, yet, he was just as good as he was when he first arrived on Egghead. Saturn's own attack, which was reflected back to three Elders, completely destroyed them, but ended up doing absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things because they simply regenerated. At this point, Luffy came to the conclusion that the Five Elders were simply Immortal and that they cannot die. This is also one of the reasons why they have likely lived for so long, and this is a major problem for whoever is going to fight against them in the future of the story.

One Piece: Why Joy Boy Wanted To Pass On Ancient Weapons

Joy Boy wanted the future generations to have the ancient weapons in One Piece. Here's why.

These Five Elders are very dangerous, and not just anyone can defeat them. However, that is not to say that they are unbeatable. Fans know for a fact that the Five Elders can be injured. They do actually carry scars on their bodies, which means that someone has managed to do sustainable damage to them. The key to this damage might just be in front of the fans' eyes.

The Secret To Damaging The Elders

The Ancient Energy Could Injure The Elders Permanently

The secret to damaging the Elders might not lie in Conqueror's haki, as many fans believe. Although, Conqueror's Haki is an incredible ability and it allows one to do tremendous damage to anyone, if it was that simple, Luffy would have relied on this power by now and dealt with the Elders, and potentially even defeat one of them. However, that clearly is not the case. This is because the key to defeating the Elders lies and something else entirely.

Curiously enough, in One Piece's recent chapters, Saturn was not able to withstand the glow of the Mother Flame. Now, this might just be a small detail, however, knowing Oda, he put that in for a reason. Saturn was actually not able to maintain his Yokai form in front of the glow of the Mother Flame. As such, the weakness of the Five Elders could actually be the Mother Flame, or, in other words, the ancient energy source.

Elders, I've figured out where the snail is. It is in the Fabriophase. The Iron Giant is guarding it!!

Now, that doesn't necessarily mean that the ancient weapons need to be used against the Five Elders. In fact, there is another individual on Egghead who is actually powered by ancient energy. This individual is none other than the Iron Giant. In One Piece chapter 1116, it was confirmed that the Iron Giant is going to be facing off against the Five Elders. This is because the Iron Giant is guarding the transponder snail that the Elders want to destroy. In order for them to get to the transponder snail, they will have to get through the Iron Giant first. However, the Iron Giant is actually powered by ancient energy, as confirmed by Vegapunk at the very beginning of the arc.

This means that every blow that the Iron Giant dishes out can actually do permanent damage to the Elders. Through the Iron Giant, Oda could actually end up revealing their weaknesses, and it probably also explains why the ancient weapons are needed and why Joy Boy passed them down. This could mean that in the future of One Piece, there could be weapons that are powered by ancient energy, and fans already know that Luffy is, somehow, able to generate ancient energy, because it was through his drums of Liberation that the Ancient Giant ended up waking up in the first place. There might be a scarcity of ancient energy to defeat the Five Elders in the future, however, at least fans will know the method to defeat them, which is already a huge breakthrough.

One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1117, is set to be June 17, 2024.
