One Piece chapter 1094 shocked every single fan of the series with an incredible enemy reveal. Fans were fully expecting the fight between Luffy and Kizaru to continue and while that did take up quite a bit of chapter, the biggest part came towards the end, when Saturn used his Devil Fruit powers for the first time and summoned himself on the island using a ritual circle.
One Piece Chapter 1094 Preview: Saturn's True Power

Saturn is, quite clearly, the main antagonist of this arc and the foe that the Straw Hat Pirates will have to deal with and, from here onwards, the Egghead Incident that Oda has teased quite heavily should be almost upon the fans.
Saturn's Devil Fruit Ability
Immediately after Atlas took control of the Pacifistas, Vegapunk realized that it was time for him to make his move. Had he not done so, the Pacifistas would have absolutely wiped out quite a lot of marines and the damage caused to them would have been collateral. Meanwhile, Luffy was completely keeping Kizaru busy by himself and, at the same time, Lucci himself was being kept busy by none other than Zoro. The Marines did not have enough firepower to win this battle, which was likely apparent to Saturn as well, which is why he decided to tap into the powers of his Devil Fruit and step on the island.
Saturn used a strange ritual circle, which seemed like it had demonic powers. Somehow, this large ritual circle appeared on the island and massive Haki sparks emerged from it. These Haki sparks were seen all over the island and, in fact, there was a very dark and ominous aura that was emerging from it. Every single fighter and non-fighter on the island could easily feel that and even Luffy and Kizaru, who were already engaged in their battle, could sense this strange presence. Then, out of nowhere, flames surrounded the ritual circle and Saturn popped in the middle, completely transformed into his Devil Fruit form. This Devil Fruit form looks very interesting as it is quite clearly a Mythical Zoan. This fruit seems to be some sort of a chimera, or, a creature that is made by the amalgamation of several beasts at once. In his case, it appears to be a combination of a spider and, either an ox or an Oni, or, perhaps, both.
The Mythology Behind Saturn's Devil Fruit
While the name of the Devil Fruit that Saturn has not been currently revealed to the fans, it appears to be largely based on one of the Yokai in Japanese mythology, called Ushi Oni. This Yokai appears to have the lower half of a spider and the upper half of an ox. It is believed that these mythical creatures have very brutal and dark personalities. That is quite clear from looking at Saturn. He is one of the 20 Founders, after all, and has plunged the world into a state of chaos that he has covered up, along with the other Five Elders.

He's also most likely a very brutal personality. Fans got a clear look at that in the previous chapter when, just by looking at the Five Elders, a lower-ranking marine got his head blown off completely. In terms of appearance, Saturn quite clearly looks like an Ushi Oni, where he is seen with the lower half of a spider and the upper half of either an ox or an Oni. He has two giant horns curving inwards while he is maintaining his human body torso. This is likely due to the fact that he's currently using his hybrid form and not his fully transformed form.
It is believed in mythology that these Ushi Oni enjoy eating humans and they also have the ability to spit poison, which they use to kill their prey and then consume them. Being powerful Yokai, it is quite clear that they were feared in the mythologies and they possess ominous abilities, something that Saturn also displayed in the previous chapter.
Is Saturn's Devil Fruit Awakened?
When it comes to the Devil Fruit power of Saturn, it is quite clear that his powers are awakened. This is clear from the black flame cloud that surrounds his neck. This flame cloud is quite similar to the one that is being used by Lucci and Kaku.
Saturn's flame clouds are black, which is starkly different from the one that forms around Luffy's neck, which is white. This also means that fans have not seen the normal Devil Fruit form of Saturn, which would most likely be smaller and weaker as well. The implication is that he has awakened his Devil Fruit and that means he has gained immense mastery over this fruit and is one of the strongest in the entire world, since this ability is not accessible to just anyone.
Of course, flame clouds do not necessarily have to mean an awakened Devil Fruit. This is quite clear from the fact that even Yamato had one, however, it is a known fact that she did not have an Awakened Devil Fruit power. Meanwhile, Luffy, across his Gears such as Gear Fourth, also had a similar cloud around him and, once again, this was not a sign of Devil Fruit awakening.
However, when talking about Saturn, fans can rest assured that his fruit is awakened simply because he has likely been around for years upon years and has had enough time to master his abilities. His flame cloud also looks extremely similar to the one that is present around the bodies of Kaku and Lucci, and that should be enough confirmation of his Devil Fruit Awakening.
Gorosei Jaygarcia Saturn - Stronger Than Luffy?
Jaygarcia Saturn is quite easily one of the strongest people in the world of One Piece, if not the strongest. Fans should absolutely expect him to be on a level above that of a Marine Admiral. A Yonko, such as Luffy, most likely has to struggle in a fight against him. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that the Five Elders would possess powers that are enough to defeat a Yonko as well. That does not necessarily mean that they are much stronger than them, it just means that they would have enough resources to take them on in a proper battle and also emerge victorious. Saturn should be no exception and the fact that he has this incredible Awakened Mythical Zoan Ushi Oni Devil Fruit is proof of that. Fans should also absolutely expect him to be an incredible user of Haki.
Given that he is the most royal bloodline of the world, and the fact that he is one of the rulers of the world, Saturn should most definitely have access to Conqueror's Haki as well. He would also then have access to power such as Observation and Armament Haki. With these powers, combined with his incredible Devil Fruit, fans should absolutely expect him to be a monster and combat that is not anywhere below the level of a Yonko.
After all, these are other people who fought against Joyboy and the Ancient Kingdom and defeated them and, now, they are finally revealing themselves as the main antagonists in the story. Right now, fans should work under the assumption that Saturn is stronger than Luffy and that the Strong Hat Pirate will have to level himself up if he is to beat him.
