Sanji is the cook of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the five most important characters in One Piece, being a part of the famous East Blue Five. Born in the North Blue to the King and Queen of the Germa Kingdom, Sanji is former royalty and after the abuse that he faced from his family, he managed to run away from his home and wound up all the way in the East Blue.

In the Baratie arc, he is finally recruited by Luffy to be the cook of the crew. As with all the Straw Hat Pirates, Sanji has quite a peculiar character design and his outfits, in particular, say a lot about his personality.

8 A Gentleman's Outfit

Sanji is almost always seen wearing a double-breasted suit in the One Piece arcs. While this is just something that he prefers to wear, at the same time, it also says a lot about Sanji's nature. Considering the fact that he's known to be a kind-hearted gentleman and a very chivalrous person, Eiichiro Oda chose the perfect outfit for Sanji.

Even without knowing much about him, one can easily tell that Sanji's personality is probably closer to that of a gentleman than a brute just by looking at his outfit.

7 His Outfit As A Child

As a child, Sanji was trained in the various military arts by none other than Vinsmoke Judge, his biological father. During his time with the Germa Kingdom, Sanji wore a yellow shirt, which signifies his personal color, and at the same time, the shirt sported the number 3 on it.

Sanji's name literally translates to 3 o'clock and he's also the 3rd born son of Judge Vinsmoke, making this outfit a very clever design on Oda's part.

6 Regular Outfit Changes

Sanji is very conscious of his appearance and likes to make an effort to make himself presentable every single day. As such, he usually goes through more outfit changes than the rest of his crew. Most arcs see him wearing different suits and, at the same time, different colored shirts as well.

Sanji rarely also wears other clothes, mostly when the crew is holding a banquet or when they're traveling across the waters in an attempt to follow the Logpose. During the longer arcs, Sanji almost always wears his suits, apart from a few instances where he's had to stick to special outfits, such as the Yutaka that he wore during the Wano Country arc's first two Acts.

5 Raid Suit

Out of all the Straw Hats, Sanji is the only person who has used one of his outfits as a power-up. Being born in the Vinsmoke Family, Sanji was genetically modified before birth. While his genetic augmentations lay dormant for the longest of times, the family seemed to have prepared a Raid Suit for him nonetheless.

Towards the end of the Whole Cake Island arc, Sanji was gifted the Raid Suit that he donned in the Wano Country arc. With its powers, he became several times stronger and also gained the ability to turn invisible.

4 Glasses

Sanji is one of the very few Straw Hat Pirates who often wears glasses. The first time he wore glasses was during the Alabasta arc, when he took on the persona of Mr. Prince and helped Vivi save the Straw Hats in Rain Dinners.

He also wears glasses when doing abacus calculations, as seen immediately after the Skypiea arc. Following this, Sanji wore them again during the Zou arc when he was the acting leader of the crew, then known as the Twirly Hat Crew. Other than Sanji, Nami is the only one who has worn glasses on some occasions, mostly to draw her navigation charts.

3 Favorite Shirt Colors

While Sanji does wear all sorts of shirt colors, there are some that he ends up repeating often and they're likely his favorites. Most of the time Sanji wears either a blue, black, orange or turquoise long-sleeved buttoned shirt.

Other colors that he wears often are lavender, pink, and on quite a few occasions, white as well. Evidently, Sanji goes through more outfit changes than most of his crew, with Nami possibly being the only one who does it as much as him.

2 Black Shoes For Black-Leg Style

Sanji almost always wears black shoes as a part of his outfit when he's wearing his suits. They're part of the reason why he's known as "Black-Leg" Sanji.

It is believed that the shoes help him kick harder, however, he's just as strong without them, as seen when he fought the likes of Kuroobi barefooted and was still able to defeat him with just a few blows. With his shoes on, however, Sanji likely does hit harder.

1 The Onigashima Outfit

Sanji's suit for the Onigashima Raid received special attention from Eiichiro Oda. Instead of his usual black suit, Sanji wore a red suit with a black shirt, black gloves, and a white tie. Instead of his usual black boots, he also switched to red boots for the arc.

This outfit of his is, by far, one of his very best. At the same time, it is also quite similar to an outfit that Donquixote Doflamingo wore during his younger days, only better. In the future, Sanji will likely go through more outfit changes and fans will definitely see him entertain them with more fine details.
