Nico Robin, the archaeologist of the ever-so-merry Straw Hats, has made many friends and allies in her travels in the One Piece series. Unfortunately, this was not always the case; when she was a child, Robin was always bullied and isolated from others due to her supposedly creepy demeanor and her strange Devil Fruit powers.

Even longtime fans of One Piece may be surprised to learn these interesting facts about the "Demon Child," Nico Robin.

Though she was alone for most of her life, this fact makes Robin's best friends in the present all the more precious to her. Her interactions with her friends may vary based on how often she is around them, but these friends in particular are those with whom she has the strongest bonds.

Franky

Having been captured by CP9 alongside her during the Water 7 and Enies Lobby arcs, Franky and Robin were able to bond due to the former also being hunted down by the World Government for similar reasons. At the climax of the Enies Lobby arc, it was Franky who appeared to defend Robin from the Marines and free her from her Seastone handcuffs.

Since then, Robin and Franky have worked together time and time again to take down foes in the events that followed those on Enies Lobby. Though they get along well, Robin often shows genuine irritation toward some of Franky's antics, namely his Docking technique on Thriller Bark and his facial expressions when inhabiting Chopper's body in Punk Hazard.

Koala, Sabo, and Hack

During Robin's personal excursions during the two-year time skip, she became acquainted with the Revolutionary Army, whose members view her as an inspiring figure to their cause. But out of all of their members, Robin in particular befriended Koala, Sabo, and Hack, three prominent members of the Revolutionary Army.

While the interactions between these four are infrequent, it is clear that they are very friendly with one another due to how Sabo, Koala, and Hack greet Robin when they show themselves on Dressrosa. Koala and Hack even taught Robin Fishman Karate during her time with the Revolutionary Army, which she effectively employed during her fight against Black Maria.

Professor Clover

Robin was ostracized by children and adults alike, but this was certainly not the case with Professor Clover, one of the leading archeologists residing in Ohara at the time. Not only did he welcome Robin into his entourage with open arms, but it was Clover himself who certified Robin as an official archeologist upon passing the test to become one.

Though Clover greatly cared for Robin's well-being, he also forbade Robin from spying on his group's research on Poneglyphs. Though Robin objected to such measures, Clover only did so to prevent her from becoming a criminal, a fate which ultimately befell her after Ohara was completely destroyed by the Marines.

Roronoa Zoro

Like most of the Straw Hat Pirates at the time, Zoro was initially skeptical of Robin joining the crew due to her recent affiliation with Baroque Works. On her part, Robin is quite cordial toward Zoro, completely indifferent to any suspicions he harbored; she even takes it upon herself to tease him at certain moments.

The one-eyed swordsman in One Piece holds these individuals closest to his heart.

After the events in Enies Lobby, however, Zoro and Robin acknowledge each other as fellow crewmates with immense power at their disposal. At various points in the story, such as the Skypiea, Thriller Bark, and Fishman Island arcs, Zoro and Robin have several moments in which one of them saves the other from imminent danger.

Nami

Unlike Zoro, Nami was far more trusting of Robin when she first joined the crew, though this was mainly due to Robin winning her favor by giving her Crocodile's jewels. Since then, Nami and Robin have had a sisterly relationship; they can often be seen spending casual time with each other and putting up with the rest of the crew's shenanigans.

When Robin was abducted by CP9, Nami was deeply saddened; conversely, she was completely overjoyed by Robin's permanent return to the crew. Since then, Nami and Robin have acted as steadfast friends, though Nami is often put off by Robin's morbid sense of humor.

Sanji

Vinsmoke Sanji in One-Piece

Unlike Nami and Zoro, Sanji completely trusted Robin from the moment they met and flirted with her on a regular basis. On her part, rather than getting irritated and scolding him like Nami, Robin is more patient with his advances and usually responds to them in a friendly manner if not outright ignoring him.

One Piece: Sanji's Best Friends, Ranked

Who are some of Sanji's best friends that strengthen his resolve and shape his journey in One Piece's vast and treacherous world?

After the two-year time skip, it is clear that Robin and Sanji have great respect for each other's skills and confidence in each other's character. The most notable example of this is when Sanji is held captive by Black Maria; when Robin shows up to rescue him, she is thoroughly angered by Black Maria's torture of Sanji and wastes no time fighting her despite being Kaido's target of interest.

Tony Tony Chopper

Though Chopper was quite wary of her when she first joined the crew, Robin had no issues getting close to Chopper; she even found him to be cute and doted on him like a mother would her own child. When not fighting any enemies, the two can often be seen doing casual activities with each other, such as shopping and playing Cat's Cradle.

Despite occasionally doting on him, Robin still holds Chopper as equal in terms of their pursuit of knowledge. In turn, Chopper finds Robin to be a protective companion, with her being the first person he turns to whenever he is in trouble. Naturally, the two of them are rarely seen apart from each other.

Monkey D. Luffy

Having rescued her from certain death after defeating her former boss Crocodile, Robin found Luffy to be interesting, even more so when she found out he carried the D initial in his name. Being the first person to join the Straw Hat Pirates of their own will, Robin is far more tolerant of Luffy's shenanigans and places immense trust in his decisions.

During the events of the Enies Lobby arc, Luffy learns of Robin's dark past but nonetheless accepts her as a member of his crew. Since then, the two have shown nothing short of complete loyalty toward each other, with Luffy wholeheartedly believing in Robin's intellect and power and Robin believing in Luffy's dream of becoming the Pirate King.

Jaguar D. Saul

While Robin has made so many memorable friends during her travels, none of them have made quite the impression on her as the former Vice Admiral Jaguar D. Saul. Having befriended Robin while she was ostracized by the citizens of Ohara, it was Saul who taught Robin how to laugh and smile even when she was sad.

When Ohara was about to be destroyed by the Buster Call, Saul wasted no time getting Robin to evacuate the doomed island (seemingly at the cost of his life) while encouraging her to find new friends at sea. In essence, without Jaguar D. Saul, Robin may have never been able to make the friends she has in the present day.
