Nico Robin is the archaeologist of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the most important characters in Eiichiro Oda's One Piece. Known to be the key to the treasure of One Piece itself, Robin is arguably the most important Straw Hat so far.

With her goal of finding out the true history of the world, Robin aims to reach Laugh Tale and deliver the Rio Poneglyph there. While most know everything there is to know about Nico Robin, there is a lot of information about her character that Oda hides in her outfits that is worth knowing.

8 Her Trademark Outfit

Before the two-year timeskip in One Piece, Nico Robin's trademark outfit was known to be the cowgirl outfit from the Alabasta arc.

Through the majority of the arc, Robin wore a purple corset and a matching miniskirt with a white coat, hat, and high-heeled boots. Surprisingly, Robin didn't wear this outfit for the rest of the arc, yet it is still associated with her main look before the timeskip.

7 The Foreshadowing

Eiichiro Oda loves his foreshadowing, and with Robin, he chose to do so via her clothes. In Logue Town, Nami went shopping and tried a lot of different clothes.

One outfit that stood out, in particular, was the cowgirl outfit that Nico Robin later wore in the Alabasta arc. Knowing how Oda writes his stories, this certainly wasn't a coincidence at all. It was most likely a way for Oda to hint at the upcoming crewmate in a subtle way.

6 Favorite Colors

Nico Robin wears all kinds of colors, however, her preference seems to be toward the darker ones. Robin usually prefers purple, and it is also the color that is associated with her character most often.

In Alabasta, she wore a purple outfit. In Enies Lobby, Robin wore a black leather outfit which, once again, was to her taste in color. Robin even returned to a purple jacket once again, showing that it is, in fact, her color.

5 After The Timeskip

Nico Robin's appearance changed quite a bit after the timeskip and so did her trademark outfit. Instead of wearing the cowgirl outfit, Robin now wears a blue leather vest and a salmon sarong skirt. The most interesting detail about this outfit is that it bears the printed image of her Devil Fruit, the Hana Hana no Mi, on the left side.

While her colors have changed, her love for leather remains ever-present. Robin's post-timeskip outfit is certainly very different from what fans were used to seeing, but it is equally good.

4 Robin And Hats

Nico Robin loves to wear hats and that's been evident throughout the story. In her first appearance, she was wearing a cowboy hat. When Robin went to Skypiea, she still sported her cowboy hat, despite changing outfits.

After the timeskip, she appears to have taken a liking to various other hats as well, and during the Dressrosa arc, Robin is seen wearing a white bell-brimmed hat instead. Robin also wears the hats across movies, such as One Piece Movie 6.

3 The Sunglasses

After the timeskip, Robin appears to have taken a liking to sunglasses. Her trademark outfit sees her wear orange sunglasses quite often, which she also wears in battle sometimes, as seen on Fishman Island. In Punk Hazard, she wore her glasses over her forehead, but carried them nonetheless.

In Dressrosa, Robin once again wore her sunglasses on quite a few occasions, especially when she wanted to hide her face. While Robin didn't wear them for quite some time, she returned to using them while wearing the Beasts Pirates outfit made by Kin'emon on Onigashima.

2 The Wano Country Outfits

Nico Robin changed quite a lot of outfits in the Wano Country arc, just like every other member of the crew. In the beginning, she wore a black geisha outfit which she used to get into Orochi's personal quarters and get information out of him.

Her second outfit was a Kimono with a white and purple square pattern on it. Robin's third and final outside saw her wear a Kunoichi attire with daffodils on it. She also wears a dark coat with a flower pattern over her shoulders, further adding to her already great outfit. For a while, Robin also wore a Beasts Pirates outfit at the beginning of the Onigashima Raid.

1 Franky and Robin

At times, Franky and Robin seem to have matching outfits. This was particularly noticeable after the events of the Dressrosa arc, after which both wore shirts with "Corrida" written on them.

While this might just be a coincidence, the fact that Robin and Franky seem to have a special relationship suggests that there's more to it.
