The World Government has a lot of enemies, but the one that is dedicated solely to overthrow them is none other than the Revolutionary Army. Led by Monkey D. Dragon, the Revolutionary Army has been active before the start of the One Piece story. However, we rarely get to see the kind of mischief that they are up to, much less a direct confrontation with the World Government. But that’s about to change soon.

Recent One Piece chapters, specifically from chapter 1083 onwards, reveal several key points regarding the current state of the Revolutionary Army and the World Government as well. And from the information that is mentioned in those chapters, it’s clear that the Revolutionary Army suddenly became a huge threat to the World Government. Here are some of the reasons why.

Inciting Rebellion In Numerous Countries

One Piece Revolutionary Army

Every country that wants to live under the umbrella of the World Government has to pay a hefty sum of money to them every year. This is called the Heavenly Tribute. In exchange for this monetary contribution, they will enjoy numerous perks courtesy of the World Government, such as security and protection through the mighty Marine, and being included within the vast network of goods, knowledge, and information exchange between each allied nations.

If a nation refuses or is unable to pay this exuberant fee, however, they will be utterly abandoned. Lots of nations, such as Whitebeard’s hometown, have descended into chaos and turned into a criminal den because the local government can't pay the tribute. The citizens of various nations around the world began to see this sinister and oppressive side of the World Government, and they wanted justice. And that's when the Revolutionary Army comes in.

In nations and kingdoms that are abandoned by the World Government, the Revolutionary Army comes in and offers them a helping hand, and also sparks the spirit of rebellion in their hearts. Slowly but surely, there are now dozens of countries that have openly rebelled against the World Government, eight of which ended in a successful revolution. This separatist movement will only spread to other parts of the world, which will threaten the World Government’s influence over the citizens of the world.

Cutting Off The Food Supply And Logistic To Marine HQ

One Piece

The center of the World Government is at the Holy Land of Mary Geoise. This is where the upper echelon of the World Government, such as the Five Elders, reside and this is also the home of the direct descendant of the founder of the World Government, the nobles of the world, the Celestial Dragons. It’s not an exaggeration to say that this is the most important place for the World Government.

Needless to say, the holy land has the best and tightest security in the world. Countless Marines patrolling both the land and the surrounding sea 24/7. Not only that, Mary Geoise also has its own armed forces that are stronger than most marines, the strongest of which is a group called the God’s Knight. If that’s not enough, a Marine admiral will be ready to come in whenever necessary from the nearby Marine HQ. Furthermore, Mary Geoise sits on top of an island with high and steep cliffs all around it. That means every visitor has to use a special carrier called a Bondola that will lift them to the top of the cliff, where the residents of the island reside. So it is basically a natural fortress.

That being said, the very thing that makes Mary Geoise such a safe place is also the one thing that makes it so dependent on others. Due to its isolated location, there’s hardly any fresh foods on the island. That means they have to import the goods from the outside. The Revolutionary Army knows this and decided to attack the Marie Geoise’s Supply Chain from all over the world. Slowly but surely, they manage to hurt the nobles without having to set foot on the island.

Knowing The True Nature of The World Government

One Piece Five Elders Bow to Great Imu

The impenetrable holy land of Mary Geoise is at its weakest during the Reverie. After all, this once-in-five-year event allows the visitors from all around the world to come into the Holy Land, which makes it perfect for anybody who wants to infiltrate Mari Geoise. That is precisely what Sabo and a handful of the Revolutionary Army’s commanders set out to do during the last Reverie.

Sabo has three objectives on this daring mission. To declare war on the World Government by destroying the symbol of the Celestial Dragons, to free as many slaves as possible, and to save their fellow Revolutionary Army executive, Bartholomew Kuma. However, what he finds out once he gets into the Pangea Castle is information that can shake the very foundation of the world.

Sabo barely manages to escape within the inch of his life, but he successfully brings three pieces of crucial information to the Revolutionary Army’s HQ. First is the fact that King Cobra of Arabasta is killed by the Five Elders. Second is the secrets behind the "will of D." that the late King Cobra told Sabo in his last moments. Third is the fact that there is somebody called “The Great Imu'' that sits proudly on the empty throne and commands the Five Elders.

This highly sensitive and dangerous information, along with the seed of rebellions that the Revolutionary Army has been spreading across the globe, and their recent attacks on countless Marie Geoise’s supply ships means this rogue organization suddenly becomes a huge threat to the World Government.
