  • Robin would be a flight attendant, Franky a pilot, and Brook a detective. As for Jinbe, his job in the real world is not revealed, but he would be fitting as a Yakuza boss.

The world of One Piece is incredibly diverse and certainly one of the very best seen in fiction that Oda has crafted with immense care. In this incredible world that Oda has crafted, the vast majority of important characters are either Pirates, Marines, or those who side with the Revolutionary Army. This story is set in a time where all these things were incredibly common and chasing one's dreams would mean taking one of these paths, more often than not.

However, in real life, things are quite different. If everyone's favorite Straw Hat Pirates lived in the current world, their jobs and roles would be quite different from what fans are used to seeing. In fact, Oda has previously commented on what jobs he thinks the Straw Hat Pirates would work in real life. It is safe to say that there are quite a lot of surprises in there and some others that make perfect sense for the characters.

The Jobs Of Luffy, Zoro, And Sanji

One Piece Heart of Gold - Luffy, Zoro, Franky, Sanji

When it comes to the Monster Trio, they are the strongest people in the Straw Hat Crew and often the most reliable ones. They take on the strongest foes in the enemy groups, with Luffy taking on the strongest, Zoro the second strongest, and Sanji the third strongest. This trio is the heart of the Straw Hat Pirates, especially when it comes to fighting. However, their roles in real life would be quite different and extremely intriguing. Luffy, according to Oda, would be a firefighter. This certainly seems like a job that Luffy would do, however, he would not be all that great at his job, given how careless he often is. Being a firefighter is much more complicated than being a pirate, where Luffy can just do whatever he wants.

Meanwhile, Zoro would be a policeman. This is somewhat fitting for the character of Zoro, who has shown qualities that would be fitting for a policeman in the current day and age. Zoro would fit perfectly in this role and do his job the best he can, given that he is very punctual. As for Sanji, he would be a stylist. This is something that doesn't come out of the blue. Fans know for a fact that Sanji acts as the stylist of the crew in the One Piece world as well. For him, the job wouldn't be all that different if he were to exist in the real world and certainly fun to do.

The Jobs Of Nami, Usopp, And Chopper

Nami and Chopper from One Piece anime

Nami, Usopp, and Chopper form the Weakling Trio of the Straw Hat Pirates, however, often, the best of interactions come from these characters. They are incredibly unique in their personalities and Oda has done incredibly well to pinpoint what jobs they would have in real life. According to Oda, Nami would be a nursery school teacher and this is absolutely perfect for her character. Nami doesn't love a lot of things in life. She loves money, tangerines, and she has a soft spot for kids. Nami struggled as a kid herself quite a lot and fans already know that she would go to any lengths to protect them, as seen during the Punk Hazard arc. Nami being a nursery school teacher would be absolutely perfect.

As far as Usopp goes, fans know that he's incredibly creative. Often, he invents new weapons or creates some interesting pieces of machinery to aid himself or his crewmates in battle. He also has an artistic touch and he even drew the Jolly Roger of the Straw Hat Pirates. According to Oda, Usopp would be a graphic designer in the real world and that also seems very fitting for a character such as himself. Finally, Chopper would be a grade school teacher and that is also a job that fans know he would be able to do very well. Chopper possesses a tremendous amount of knowledge that he can pass on to others. At the same time, he is a very kind personality and he would be able to pass on his knowledge effortlessly and raise the next generation much better.

The Jobs Of Robin, Franky, And Brook

Nico Robin and Franky

Robin, Franky, and Brook are characters that fans know to be kind of quirky. These characters are all older than other members of the group and, thus, often, they stick together. That is why their jobs are slightly different when compared to the others. According to Oda, Robin would be a flight attendant in the real world. This is rather strange given that she has never shown any interest in anything even remotely close to it, however, Robin would get to travel quite a lot because of that and perhaps that is something that she would enjoy.

Meanwhile, Franky would be a pilot. This makes sense, given that he is very interested in piloting various robots in the world of One Piece. An airplane would certainly be fitting for him. He would likely just think of it as Franky Shogun, but better. At the same time, Franky and Robin sticking together is something that would also be fun to see.

Finally, Brook, who is the oldest of the lot, would be a detective, according to Oda. This is also somewhat fitting, given that Brook goes often on infiltration and stealth missions when the Straw Hats explore new places. His Devil Fruit ability is absolutely perfect for this and this just goes to show that he has a certain talent when it comes to investigation. In the real world, Brook would make full use of what he has learned and become a great detective. This job also suits his character quite a lot, given that Brook gives off the impression that he would like exciting and mysterious responsibilities.

The Case Of Jinbe

Jinbe Using Busoshoku Haki While Fighting Who's-Who In Wano In One Piece

Jinbei is the latest recruit of the Straw Hat Pirates. Fans know that he joined the crew in Wano, officially. Sadly, when Oda revealed the jobs of the Straw Hat Pirates, the story was around Punk Hazard at the time. This means a job was not assigned to Jinbei. What Oda thinks Jinbe would be in the real world is something that only he knows at this point in time. However, fans can always speculate about what they think would be fitting for him. Given that Jinbe's character has quite a lot of Mafia undertones, it would be perfect if he were to be a Yakuza boss in the real world. Jinbe is well-respected by quite a lot of people in the One Piece world, who directly refer to him as their boss.

He has garnered quite a lot of praise from many incredible personalities and, overall, he's just fitting for this role. In the future, it is possible that Oda will reveal what he thinks would be the perfect job for Jinbe if he lived in the real world. Perhaps, after the Straw Hat Pirates give up pirating, they could take up the jobs that they love the most and relax, provided their lifelong dreams would already have them fulfilled at this point.

One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app.
