One Piece is enjoying quite an exciting phase at the moment, as the Egghead Island arc is in its climax. Oda has been delivering phenomenal chapter after phenomenal chapter to the fans over the course of the last few months, and there isn't a better time to be a One Piece fan for the readers.

Few expected the Egghead Island arc to be as exciting as it has been, and despite everything, Oda has delivered what could be considered one of the very best arcs in the entire story by many. While One Piece is very close to the conclusion of the Egghead Island arc now, it appears that fans might have to wait a bit, and this is because the story is going on a break, as announced earlier today.

One Piece To Go On A Three Week Break

One Piece fans are used to Oda going on breaks, however, usually, these breaks last only for 1 week. Very rarely, Oda goes on a hiatus, but it certainly isn't common for him to do this. Earlier today, it was announced that Oda is going on a 3-week hiatus and fans will not be getting any One Piece during this time. One Piece chapter 1111 is going to be released later this week, but after that, fans will be without a chapter for three straight weeks. This means that the fans will get the next One Piece chapter after almost a month, which might be quite an excruciating wait for a lot of the fans.

One Piece will be going on a break after Issue number 18 of the Weekly Shonen Jump, and it will be return in Issue #21 of Jump, which is set to be released on April 21, 2024. The reason for the hiatus remains unknown at this point. Usually, hiatuses like these suggest that something is up with the author’s health. Of course, One Piece fans collectively hope that that is not the case with Oda. Oda has certainly had health issues, and that is no secret. The fact that he is suddenly taking a break right now could suggest that something might be wrong.

However, nothing has been confirmed as of yet. It is also possible that this break is due to something else entirely. For instance, One Piece went on a break when the story hit the timeskip. This could be something similar, and if something groundbreaking ends up happening in One Piece chapter 1111 that warrants a 3-week break, then that would most certainly be a very intriguing decision by Oda.

At the moment, however, fans do not know exactly what the reason for the break is. Hopefully, a lot will be clearer in the upcoming weeks, and fans will find out why Oda decided to go on a break. Regardless of what the reason is, this break will most definitely do Oda good. He certainly deserves a break, especially after taking into consideration the incredible pressure that Jump authors are put under, often. Oda, in particular, has been doing this for over 2 decades now, and for him, these breaks are necessary.

One Piece's Previous Long Breaks

Curiously enough, this isn't the only time that One Piece has gone on breaks around this time in recent years. In 2023, Oda went on break around the same time, and at that time, it was down to his astigmatism surgery. Fans already know that suffered from eyesight issues and to get that issue fixed, he had to get surgery done. For that reason, Oda took a 3-week break last year around a similar time, and the manga resumed later in the summer of 2023.

Before that, in 2022, Oda once again decided to go on break at the same time. At that point, the Wano arc had reached its conclusion, and immediately after chapter 1053, that is, when the Four Emperors were finally revealed, One Piece went on a 3-week hiatus. At that point, the break was likely due to Oda wanting a rest after concluding the most intense arc in the entire story. After returning from the hiatus, the story continued to deliver the conclusion of the Wano arc, and, from there onwards, fans got to witness the Egghead Island arc.

Curiously enough, this year, Oda has decided to go on break around the same time. It is possible that this is now a pattern and that Oda will be taking breaks every year around this time. If that is the case, then it certainly is good, as it gives the author time to relax and take care of his health a bit more. Oda would also get time to spend with his family, which is something that he must desperately want at this time. Oda has dedicated his entire life to One Piece, such that he has had to sacrifice time with his own family to deliver this incredible story to the fans. This short break is going to help him, even if it is in small ways.

One Piece's Last Chapter Before The Short Hiatus

Fans are incredibly excited to see what Oda will deliver before he goes on a break. As things stand, One Piece is going to be releasing chapter 1111 later this week and it is certainly going to be a massive one. After the arrival of the Five Elders in the last chapter, fans are incredibly excited to see what happens on Egghead next. It is clear for all the fans to see that the Egghead Island arc is currently in its very climax. In the next few chapters, this arc will most likely wrap up, and the fact that Oda is taking a break right now is a clear implication of the fact that the end is close.

Fans are incredibly excited for One Piece chapter 1111, as Luffy and the Giants will collaborate to deal with the threat of the Five Elders. At the same time, the Straw Hat Pirates will do their best to escape from the grasp of the Elders. This might just be the biggest challenge that the Straw Hat Pirates have faced in quite a while, and Luffy will have to step up to deal with a foe this massive.

One Piece chapter 1111 could potentially cover groundbreaking events, and if that is the case, then it would make even more sense why Oda is taking a break at this point in the story. Of course, it is also going to be incredibly exciting to see what Oda tackles once One Piece returns from its break with chapter 1112.

Perhaps, the Egghead Island arc will take a sudden turn and conclude. Perhaps, the message that Vegapunk wanted to deliver will finally be out. Fans do not know exactly which direction the story will take, however, whatever happens, it is certainly going to be a groundbreaking finale for the Egghead Island arc, possibly greater than any other arc that the fans have witnessed.
