One Piece is currently in its final saga and with each passing chapter, the fans get to see one major event breaking out after another. The world of One Piece is more turbulent than it has ever been before and with the Final Saga finally starting, this is more true now than ever before. With one major incident after another, it appears the world of One Piece will continue to be in turmoil for quite a long time.
Most recently, fans witnessed another major incident go down at the Holy Land of Marijoa, just a while after it recovered from an attack from the Revolutionary Army. This time around, those at the center of it were the Fleet Admiral Akainu and of course, the man turned as the Tyrant, Bartholomew Kuma.
Bartholomew Kuma's Arrival
Kuma is a character who is most certainly going to be heavily involved in the Final Saga of One Piece, especially in the Egghead Arc. Fans saw him being rescued by the Revolutionary Army in this arc and he was taken back to Momoiro Island, where the Revolutionary Army currently has their base. However, moments after Bonney got to Egghead Island, something strange happened to Kuma and he decided to go against all orders and use his own ability on himself, flying to a particular location. At the time, fans did not know what his destination was going to be, however, he was seen flying at blazing speeds until he eventually hit the Red Line.
Quite clearly, Kuma's goal was to cross the Red Line and get to a place on the other side. To that end, he decided to climb this giant mass of land using his own hands and was subject to many canon fires. Kuma succeeded in getting to the top, where the home of the Celestial Dragons is. This is the destination where he was at previously and once again, he had returned. Immediately after, the many soldiers present in the Holy Land started attacking him in an attempt to restrain him. However, Kuma fought back very well and defeated all of them. It was quite clear that the Celestial Dragons required special help and that is why the Fleet Admiral of the Marines was called into action.
Kuma's Rampage In Marijoa
Before Sakazuki could arrive, however, Kuma had already destroyed a big portion of the holy land. He was seen using powerful attacks to destroy his surroundings and he even pulled off strong techniques, such as Ursus Shock, to deal tremendous damage to the place. Fans who have seen this technique being performed might remember that it was strong enough to do significant damage to the entirety of the Thriller Bark ship. At the same time, during the Paramount War, this technique was able to put Oars, a pirate worth 550 million berries, on his knees without much trouble at all. The fact that Kuma was using his Devil Fruit abilities to cause destruction just goes to show how desperate he was to escape from this place and get to his destination.
When Sakazuki arrived on the scene, he highlighted the fact that Kuma had destroyed a massive portion of the holy land of Marijoa. This place is of the utmost importance to the highest power in the world and it must be preserved at all costs. It was evident that Kuma could not be controlled by the Celestial Dragons anymore and for that reason, Akainu decided that it was time to put him down for good and do it using his own abilities. That is precisely what One Piece Chapter 1092 focused on and this major battle that was fought atop the Red Line was also a part of the Marijoa Incident.
Akainu Vs Kuma
One Piece chapter 1092 also did very well to highlight the find between Kuma and Sakazuki. These two characters are very powerful in their own right. However, fans know that Kuma is not in any state to continue fighting at the moment. His entire character appears to be soulless right now, however, he still has a shred of humanity within him, as is evident from the fact that he's trying to get to his daughter.
While Sakazuki was certainly very interested in knowing his motivations and why he was taking drastic actions such as attacking the most holy place in the world to the Government, he could not simply cast his job aside for his feelings.
Immediately, a fight between these two characters commenced and it was quite clear to see that it was very one-sided. Sakazuki opened the battle with his powerful Hell Hound technique and blew off half of Kuma's face. As blood started gushing down his face, the cyborg decided to press forward and continue in his quest. Naturally, Sakazuki would not let this happen easily and he decided to let out a barrage of powerful magma-based attacks. One of them got to his legs and completely burned it off, however, Kuma still pressed forward and successfully managed to use his ability on himself and was sent flying once again. Sakazuki had completely overwhelmed him in combat, yet, he was not able to stop him.
The rampage of Kuma, combined with the destruction that the fight between these two characters caused atop the Red Line is what was termed as the Marijoa Incident. It appears that the holy land is coming into play more and more in the story, given that, previously, the Revolutionary Army Commanders did quite a number on it, destroying its granaries and even cutting off all supplies to the place, effectively putting it under siege.
Kuma's Escape
Bartholomew Kuma's escape from the holy land of Marijoa means that he will soon be at his destination. The Red Line was the only thing stopping him from getting to where he wanted and now, it does not stand in his way anymore. Fans will most definitely see him arrive on Egghead sooner rather than later. What exactly his role will be on this island is something that fans do not know at the moment. However, One Piece readers can expect interactions with his daughter, where his whole past and her backstory is revealed to the fans.
At the same time, interactions with Vegapunk and the reason behind why he decided to become a weapon might also be touched upon. There are also character interactions with the Straw Hat Pirates that fans might get to see, given that they owe him quite a debt as well. Whether Kuma will die or not is something that remains to be seen. His current condition does not appear to be too good. However, Vegapunk can certainly fix him, given that he is a cyborg, after all.
Meanwhile, more destruction in the holy land means that the Celestial Dragons will be growing frustrated and they will have to make their move, sooner rather than later. This rampage led by Kuma atop the Red Line is going to be very important in the future. While fans might think it wasn't all that significant in the grand scheme of things, they should remember that Oda pays great attention to even the smallest of details. It will be interesting to see where the story heads from here onwards and how Egghead Island concludes. For now, there is a war for the Straw Hats to fight and win, at all costs.
