After the events of Wano, Luffy was made one of the Four Emperors of the Sea, which just goes to show how far he has truly come. Currently, Luffy is one of the strongest pirates on the seas, and a figure who is feared across the New World. However, Luffy hasn't hit his peak just yet. There is still more for him to learn and grasp as One Piece continues and that only means that fans will see a stronger version of him down the line.

Luffy's Current Power Level

Luffy developed his skills quite quickly in the New World. For 2 years before setting foot on any island in the New World, Luffy trained relentlessly with the right-hand man of the Pirate King, Rayleigh. Thanks to him, Luffy learned how to utilize Haki, however, he only learned the basics of this skill during the first 18 months, because that is what Rayleigh could teach him. Haki can only be evolved while fighting and that only means that Luffy truly found his groove when he entered the New World. Immediately after entering this ocean, Luffy encountered several powerful foes and he pushed himself to his very limits to gain greater strength.

He unleashed the powers of his Devil Fruit to the maximum and, with time, he also improved his Haki control. Luffy currently wields three Haki types, all of which have been advanced to the next level. At the same time, his control over his Devil Fruit is also immense at the moment. Luffy learned how to utilize Gear 4 during the timeskip and this power proved to be enough for him to overwhelm enemies as strong as Yonko First Mates. However, it wasn't enough to topple the Yonko themselves. To accomplish that, Luffy had to improve his Haki tremendously. This is what fans saw happen in Wano. Luffy trained his Haki, specifically his Armament and his Conqueror's Haki greatly. Thanks to Hyogoro, Luffy learned how to improve the Color of Arms and deal internal damage without touching his enemies.

This proved to be a major level-up for him. However, the biggest power-up that he gained in Wano when it comes to Haki was certainly the usage of Conqueror's Haki Infusion. Luffy only learned this skill after carefully observing Kaido himself. With time, he figured out how to coat himself in this incredible power and this allowed him to hit the next level. Yet, all that was not enough for Luffy to reach the same level as the Yonko. That required the awakening of his Devil Fruit. When Luffy died in the fight against Kaido, his Devil Fruit awakened and, thus, he gained access to Gear 5.

Zoro's power by the end of One Piece will be comparable to that of a Yonko.

The power of this gear was absolutely immense, great enough to see him topple the likes of the Four Emperors. Luffy fought Kaido on an even footing and, eventually, mustered enough strength to crush him completely in battle and send him into an underground volcano, ending his reign over the land of Wano in the process. Defeating one of the Four Emperors meant that Luffy had hit the next level and officially joined the elites of the One Piece world.

Luffy In The Final Saga

In the Final Saga, Luffy has continued to grow. So far, the Straw Hat Pirates have only visited one island in the Final Saga and that is Egghead. On the island of Egghead, Luffy has utilized Gear 5 two times already. The first time was when he clashed against Lucci and this fight proved to be quite easy for him. Luffy easily overwhelmed him and showed exactly why he's one of the Four Emperors of the Sea currently. However, it was highlighted very well in this fight that Gear 5 takes quite a massive toll on his body.

Luffy also fought against the Seraphims and exhausted himself against them quite a lot. The next morning, he fought against Kizaru in an extended battle which, once again, required him to tap into the powers of Gear 5. This time around, the fight was much more even, however, once again, Luffy secured the victory moments before Gear 5 ran out and left him exhausted. It is clear that Luffy is above the level of an Admiral at the moment and certainly a very worthy Yonko. However, Luffy is yet to reach his peak. To do that, he has to, first and foremost, improve the usage of his awakening. Luffy needs to get used to utilizing these powers and not have them put as much strain on his body as they do. With time, it is highly likely that this weakness of Luffy will get ironed out and he will be able to reach the next level as a pirate.

Will Luffy Grow Stronger?

Luffy Gear 5th

The question of whether Luffy will grow stronger in the Final Saga of One Piece or not is a very straightforward one. Luffy will absolutely grow stronger since he has not reached his pinnacle just yet. Even though Gear 5 is the peak of Luffy's powers, that certainly does not mean that he won't grow stronger from here onwards. Gear 5 is a new power that can be explored by him in many ways. There are many aspects of this power that Luffy can bring out and, at the same time, improve. The biggest thing that Luffy needs to work on right now is his stamina, which is burned very fast while using the power of Gear 5.

Once Luffy gets a better hold of this aspect of the power, he will automatically get stronger. However, that's certainly not all. Luffy can also improve his Haki even further. He has advanced control over all three Haki types and that goes without saying, as he has demonstrated it on several occasions in the story already. However, there are better users of Haki than Luffy. For instance, Shanks seems to be a master of every single form of Haki. He can see the future longer than Luffy, and his Conqueror's Haki is strong enough to dismantle a 3 billion berri pirate in a single swing of his sword. Luffy has to reach those levels. Shanks has been his idol ever since he was a kid and he wants to surpass him. This essentially means that in the Final Saga, Luffy will have to level up his Haki as well as his Devil Fruit control.

Moreover, these powers that Luffy possesses at the moment are enough for him to fight against and even defeat a Yonko. However, there appear to be stronger enemies in the story now. The likes of the Five Elders were recently introduced and it appears that their powers are on a completely different level. Furthermore, Imu stands even above the Five Elders, and defeating a character such as them would require Luffy to get stronger.

Essentially, Luffy will likely surpass every single pirate and doing so and hit a level that is above that of the Yonko. He will be the strongest pirate, even though he does not want to be the strongest specifically. Simply wanting to be the freest man on the seas requires him to be the strongest so he can have the most control over his life.
