Notable Users

Smoker, Ace, Crocodile, Blackbeard, Kizaru, Enel

Introduced very early on in the series, Logia type Devil Fruits would only officially be named far later on when explaining Enel's abilities during the Skypeia arc. Broadly speaking, Logia type Devil Fruits are those that give the user the ability to control vast amounts of a certain natural element, as well as letting them transform their entire body into this element as well. While very straightforward, these fruits are incredibly powerful.

You learn the name of the fruit when you gain its power, but it is a gamble as to what kind of power you'll gain.

Discounting Mythical Zoan, Logia types are the rarest and also the most powerful kinds of Devil Fruits. Though diverse in terms of the elements they give their users to manipulate, the fruits themselves are fairly similar in terms of usage, as they all let the user create almost endless amounts of their assigned element from their bodies, which is the defining aspect of these fruits and what differentiates them from some Paramecia.

The Power Of Logia Types

Another aspect that differentiates Logia type Devil Fruits from those Paramecia types that produce substances is that what they produce is a natural element, whereas the Paramecia types are artificial substances. This is an incredibly important distinction, as these abilities take the form of various states of matter or energy.

The defense that Logia Devil Fruits give is incredible since users are typically immune to all kinds of physical damage, as any harm done to them is followed by the element within their body healing the ailment. Whether it's a substantial blow to the body or even the severing of a limb, they're quickly reformed due to the attributes of the Devil Fruit. A great example of this is Luffy's fight with Crocodile, where Luffy was unable to do any damage to the villain due to his Devil Fruit simply reforming him back into shape after every attack.

Though some powers of those fruits based on solid elements can always reform their user, the few with gaseous or energy-based powers make their users almost completely intangible. However, the standard weaknesses of all Devil Fruits apply to these as well, with seawater or Seastones negating their abilities completely and attacks reinforced with Busoshoku/Armament Haki can damage them as well.

Moreover, the Logia types each face weaknesses that are synonymous with their respective elements, such as water canceling out the abilities of sand, rubber negating the strength of lightning, or even magma negating the effects of fire.

A fruit of the Logia family, the most powerful of all Devil Fruits!

The way that these fruits work is by having the user transform one part of their body into their respective element and then use it as much as they want, which is different from Paramecia types, as they just create the substance from their bodies, or out of thin air, directly. If their respective elements are seen in nature or anywhere externally, the user can merge with them or even absorb them within themselves.

Notable Logia Type Devil Fruits:

Due to them being the rarest Devil Fruits out of them all, without taking Mythical Zoans into account, Logia types are incredibly rare in the world, due to which they are seen quite sparingly throughout the series. This is why almost all of them are very powerful, but here are a few examples of some very important Logia type Devil Fruits.

  • Moku Moku no Mi: This is a very iconic Devil Fruit eaten by a fan-favorite side character, Captain Smoker. As the name suggests, this fruit gives Smoker the ability to turn into and control vast amounts of smoke.
  • Suna Suna no Mi: Eaten by the legendary Sir Crocodile, this fruit gives him control over sand to an unparalleled degree, as he is almost immune to all kinds of physical damage. Only when mixed with water can attacks damage him. His power was on full display in the Alabasta arc, where he defeated Luffy in 2 out of their 3 battles.
  • Mera Mera no Mi: This Logia Devil Fruit that gives the user control over fire was eaten by Portgas D. Ace, making him a deadly and infamous pirate. After his death, the fruit was reincarnated and was later eaten by Sabo.
  • Goro Goro no Mi: This incredibly powerful Devil Fruit was eaten by Enel, granting him the powers of lightning and even letting him transform into it. This fruit was so strong that Enel began to be worshiped as a god.
