One Piece has a plethora of powerful characters who are blessed with strong abilities. Some of them are innately talented, while others have to work hard to become reputed fighters. The Yonko are among the most powerful characters in One Piece, and their power evokes fear and respect. Even the Marines and the World Government do not interfere with their activities. At any given time, there are only four Yonko. Aside from their strength, the Yonko also have interesting personalities, so it is no wonder why they have massive fan followings.

The Yonko have been involved in almost every major event in the story. Ever since the series entered the Wano Country arc, the focus has been on Kaido. His rise to prominence has been nothing short of spectacular, and he has truly cemented himself as one of the most remarkable characters in One Piece. Kaido put on an incredible showing throughout Wano, but was he the strongest Yonko?

His Past

From a physical point of view, Kaido is absolutely incredible, and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to call him the best when it comes to raw power. From a young age, Kaido was treated as a weapon. He served the Vodka Kingdom for some time before they sold him to the Marines. Luckily, Kaido escaped and ended up with the Rocks Pirates. He stayed with the crew until the God Valley Incident, during which he ran away.

Kaido grew up to be an impressive fighter, and he started his own crew. Within no time, Kaido gained a great deal of notoriety and came to be known as one of the greatest pirates in the world. Almost three decades prior to the story, Kaido turned up at Wano and took over the nation with the help of Orochi. The pirate wanted a new territory, while Orochi wanted a powerful ally. So, it was easy for them to strike a deal.

Physical Abilities

Kaido has an ungodly amount of stamina, endurance, and strength. During the Onigashima Raid, Kaido fought against Luffy, Law, Kid, Killer, Zoro, Yamato, the Scabbards, and Momonosuke. Not only did he overwhelm all of them, but he also did so without taking any breaks. To show what a freak he truly is, Kaido was carrying Onigashima while fighting them. So even when he was just standing, the flame clouds were draining his stamina.

Kaido's endurance is not to be scoffed at either. Given the fact that he clashed with so many characters, Kaido should have fallen a long time ago. However, the Yonko showed that he truly deserved to be called the Strongest Creature in the World, as he was almost unfazed by the wounds that he received. Kaido's extreme tolerance to pain enabled him to keep going until Luffy eventually took him down.

​​​​​When it comes to strength, Kaido is again in the highest tier. A single blow from Kaido's kanabo was enough to take out Luffy, who was using Gear 4. Kaido was also able to defeat all the Scabbards with very little effort. His physical abilities are outstanding on their own, and his Devil Fruit only added to it.

Kaido ate the Uo Uo no Mo, Model: Seiryu, which is a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit. It allowed him to turn into a massive Azure Dragon and granted him additional abilities. In his fully transformed state, Kaido uses his massive body to conjure tornadoes that can destroy everything in their path. He can also release high-speed wind slashes that can slice off limbs even if they're protected by armor. Kaido's most used attack in his dragon form is Blast Breath, which is capable of blowing up the top of a mountain.

Aside from his dragon form, Kaido can also transform into a man-beast hybrid. This form is much smaller than his dragon form, but it makes fighting 1v1 easier. Kaido can dodge attacks more easily, and he can outmaneuver his opponents frequently. Kaido's Devil Fruit also gave him more recovery speed and attacking power.

A man of Kaido's stature is expected to have awakened his Devil Fruit, but it has not been confirmed officially. There have been rumors that Kaido has awakened his Devil Fruit. The only evidence is that while fighting Luffy, Kaido's hybrid form became feral. Normally, he had two sharp teeth, but in certain situations, he gained a full set of canines.

A True Behemoth

Kaido is an unbelievable character. He has achieved many great things in his life. He managed to become one of the big-name pirates and rule Wano for several decades. Kaido suffered a total of eight defeats in his lifetime, with the final one coming at the hands of Luffy. As previously stated, Kaido was quite weakened from all the fighting; otherwise, the outcome might have been different. Needless to say, he really lived up to his epithet, "Strongest Creature Alive."

Even as a character, Kaido is amazing, although his backstory was a bit lackluster. If Oda could have expanded on it, Kaido would have gone down as one of the best anime villains of all time. Keeping in mind all his achievements, Kaido is definitely the strongest Yonko in the series.
