One Piece is moving towards its new arc after the end of the Wano Country Arc that was a roller-coaster ride for the fans of the franchise which ended with the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, Monkey D. Luffy, becoming the newest Yonko or emperor of the sea after defeating Kaido. The recent chapters of the One Piece manga have built up for a new and possibly even better arc since the franchise is known for its story that keeps getting better with every new arc.

Things have been heating up as seen in chapter 1079 of the manga where Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, shocked everyone by finally revealing the astounding and extremely destructive powers of one of the emperors of the sea and the captain of the Red Hair Pirates, Shanks. His powers have been teased for a long time in the franchise in the past, but he was not shown in an actual fight showcasing his powers. Oda gave the fans a glimpse of Shanks' power with his move Divine Departure, which almost obliterated Eustass Kid. But what came as even a bigger shock was the extremely powerful move delivered by the two captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates of Elbaf, Dorry and Brogy, called Hakoku Sovereignty. However, this attack has a deeper meaning attached to it.

Pride of the Giant Warriors

Elbaf

The Giant Warrior Pirates and the giant warriors of the Elbaf kingdom in general are considered the most powerful force in the world of One Piece. They are a race of giant, powerful, kind-hearted, prideful warriors who reside on an island and kingdom located to the east of the Wano country known throughout the world as Elbaf. Elbaf is considered the most powerful country in the world due to its army which is a mighty force to reckon with. It was mentioned for the first time in the Little Garden Arc where Usopp stated it to be his desired destination. The most important thing for the giant warriors of Elbaf is their honor as stated by Dorry and Brogy, they value honor so much that if there is any conflict between any giants, they engage in a battle to the death.

The giant warriors love their country and would go to any length to protect it and hold up its honor. This is also reflected in their fighting style and attacks one of which was shown in the latest chapter of One Piece, Hakoku Sovereignty. It is an extremely powerful attack by the captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates, Dorry and Brogy. The term Hakoku itself means 'Warrior Nation' which combined with sovereignty is pretty much self-explanatory. The name of this attack signifies the belief of the giant warriors in their country and its sovereignty in a world full of pirates and marines who tussle for power and whatnot but still, the Elbaf kingdom remains a country that is free to make decisions for itself. In addition to the symbolism behind the name of this attack, the power, and destruction that it packs are enough to show the receiver of this attack the might and wrath of the giant warriors of Elbaf.

Big Mom's Ikoku Sovereignty

Big Mom

The former emperor of the sea and the captain of the Big Mom Pirates, Charlotte Linlin aka Big Mom, was defeated in the raid on Onigashima at the hands of Trafalgar Law and Eustass Kid. Despite her rich history and several accolades, there seem to many be things that the fans still don't know about this former Yonko one of which is her connection with the giants and the Elbaf kingdom. It was revealed during the Whole Cake Island Arc in the backstory of Big Mom that her parents left her on the outskirts of the island of Elbaf when she was just a kid as she was too much to handle for them. She was taken in by Mother Carmel in her orphanage, she is also the person after devouring whom Big Mom got the powers of her Devil Fruit, the Soul-Soul fruit. As a kid, Big Mom went on a rampage in Elbaf because of her insane craving for Semla which is a popular sweet dish from Elbaf that is eaten often during the Winter Solstice Festival. The destruction that she caused to the village of Elbaf ended with the dishonorable death of one of the heroes of Elbaf and the former co-captain of the Giant Warrior Pirates, Jorul.

The giants warriors hate Big Mom ever since even though she tried to reform her relations with the giants when a royal prince of the Elbaf kingdom, Loki, fell in love with one of Big Mom's many children, Lola. Big Mom tried to pounce on this opportunity as Lola and Loki's marriage she would be able to ally with the giant warriors meaning that she would have the support of the army of Elbaf at her disposal. However, her dubious plans to become the king of the pirates with the support of Elbaf's army of giants never got to see the light of day as the marriage between Lola and Loki never happened. Big Mom's basic fighting moves somewhat resemble that of the giants of Elbaf since she spent most of her childhood there observing them. This is evident in one of her most powerful and most used attacks called Ikoku sovereignty. The term Ikoku means 'Big Nation' as in Big Mom's nation the country of Tottoland. As the story of One Piece moves forward, it is only a matter of a short time now that the fans get to witness the Elbaf Arc that is being hyped up by the fans.
