Over the course of two decades, One Piece has become one of the most successful anime franchises of all time, and its popularity does not seem to be waning whatsoever. The series follows Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates as they travel the Grand Line in search of the mythical One Piece treasure left behind by the previous Pirate King.

The series is beloved because it tells a complex and intriguing story that is filled with great action sequences. One Piece is known for its deep and emotional storytelling, but it has a great deal of comedy as well. Much of the comedy is situational, but like any long-running franchise, the series has several recurring jokes that the fans have come to enjoy.

8 Chopper's Inability To Hide

Chopper Trying To Hide From Nami

Chopper is the Straw Hats' doctor, and he has changed a great deal over the course of the anime. He has shown courage many times, but he still scares easily, and earlier on in the series, he often hid whenever he was scared or wary of someone.

Chopper has hidden behind walls, trees, and other objects, but what makes these scenarios funny is the fact that he does not know how to hide properly. Instead of concealing most of his body behind an object, he sticks his entire body out in plain sight and believes that he is well hidden.

7 Sanji's Bloody Nose

Sanji has a number of defining traits, like his eyebrows and specialized wardrobe, but he is also known for his amorous and flirtatious nature. He treats every woman with respect, but he becomes love-struck when dealing with very attractive women. When this happens, his eyes get replaced his hearts.

In extreme circumstances, Sanji will suffer severe nosebleeds when seeing beautiful women, and this was shown in excess during the Fish-Man Island Arc when he reunited with Nami and Robin after nearly three years. While on the island, he was surrounded by beautiful mermaids and suffered nosebleeds that nearly killed him.

6 Brook's Skull Jokes

Brook Making A Skull Joke

Out of all the Straw Hats, Brook's design is fairly unique, and it stems from the fact that he is now a living skeleton with a large afro and interesting clothing. He ate the Revive-Revive Fruit, which allows the user to come back to life once, but by the time he returned to his body, only his skeleton remained.

He is not ashamed of his appearance, in fact, he is quite happy with it, especially since it allows him to make skull jokes. He makes these jokes during any situation, and they always revolve around his lack of flesh. For example, he will joke about not having organs if he gets impaled, or he will mention that his eyes are now nothing but holes.

5 Chopper The Raccoon Dog

Chopper is a reindeer, and he ate the Human-Human Fruit which allows him to speak and walk like a human, but he still has his distinct reindeer horns. He has fought in several battles, but as far as the World Government is concerned, he is nothing more than the Straw Hats' pet.

This classification is the reason why his bounty is just 100 Berries. If that was not bad enough, the World Government has labeled him a raccoon dog. As a matter of fact, most people think he is a raccoon dog when they meet him for the first time.

4 Sanji's Hilarious Wanted Poster

Sanji Reacting To His Wanted Poster

Every noteworthy pirate gains a wanted poster, and many pirates take pride in their bounties, but they also care about the image that is used on the poster. Sanji is a good-looking individual, and he was mortified when he saw his first wanted poster.

The photographer forgot to take the lens off of his camera when photographing Sanji, so an improvised picture was used instead, and it was not flattering. What makes this gag especially funny is the fact that the improvised photo depicted Duval, the leader of the Rosy Life Riders, who Sanji meets later on.

3 The Pandaman Character

Pandaman In Wano With Luffy

One Piece fans have seen hundreds of characters over the years, and many of them have interesting appearances, but there is one character who has popped up a number of times in one form or another. The character is known as Pandaman, and as the name suggests, he is a man with a panda face.

Author Eiichiro Oda created the character as a joke, but he has since become one of One Piece's most prominent easter eggs. No matter the arc, Pandaman can be seen in the background of many anime episodes and manga chapters. Best of all, he never feels out of place.

2 Robin's Dark Humor

Nico Robin Laughing In Wano

Nico Robin had a terrible childhood, and she has spent the majority of her life on the run, but she cares deeply for her crew. Robin is known for her archeological expertise and her unconventional Devil Fruit, but she is also known for her dark sense of humor.

This humor comes from her dark imagination, which manifests whenever something mysterious or dangerous happens to the crew. She jokes about the absolute worst-case scenario, which usually involves death. This always happens during tense situations, and Robin's remarks make that tension worse.

1 Zoro Getting Lost

Other than Luffy, Zoro is the strongest Straw Hat, and he is known for his green hair and three-sword style. Zoro is a pretty serious character, but he has been a part of some very funny scenes as well. The funniest scenes deal with his terrible sense of direction.

Zoro's ability to get lost is by far the series' best running gag because it always happens while his crewmates are in troublesome situations. One instance was especially amusing because he managed to get lost while walking in a straight line.
