As is the case with all the Zoan Devil Fruits in the One Piece world, the Hito Hito no Mi can also have types, some of which could even fall into the Mythical Zoan class. These fruits are truly unique and their powers can range from being borderline meek to something that can be considered godly. So far, One Piece has introduced four of these fruits to the fans, with each of them being extremely incredible in usage.

Updated on April 14, 2024, by Rei Penber: The Hito Hito no Mi is one of the most diverse types of Devil Fruits that fans have seen in One Piece. This fruit is special in more ways than one, given that it has quite a lot of subclasses as well. The Hito Hito no Mi has only been elevated both in terms of power, and of course, importance as well, the more One Piece has been going on. In the final saga, some variants of the Hito Hito no Mi are more important than any other Devil Fruits in the entire series, and that goes to say a lot. That said, given the many types of this Devil Fruit, fans might have quite a lot of trouble understanding the true nature of this Devil Fruit. As such, this list has been updated with a proper and detailed explanation of what each Devil Fruit does, what its biggest strength is, and of course, what benefits it grants to the user.

4 Hito Hito no Mi

User: Chopper

One Piece - Tony Tony Chopper Looking Excitedly Up Toward The Camera

The Hito Hito no Mi was eaten by none other than a doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates, Chopper. This Devil Fruit is incredibly useful for the reindeer as it gives him the powers of a human. At the same time, it made him incredibly smart and granted a certain level of wisdom to him. With the powers of the rumble ball, Chopper can access different forms of this Devil Fruit. So far, he has created 7 points, the strongest of which is the monster point.

Its powers are such that Chopper can compete with some very strong New World pirates to some extent. In the Wano Country arc, Chopper was able to put up a fight against Queen the Plague for 30 minutes, which is nothing short of impressive. It must be noted, however, that he wasn't able to hurt Queen at all and the latter was humoring him, if anything. Nonetheless, the power of the Hito Hito no Mi showed significantly in this fight.

  • Strength: In terms of strength, the regular Hito Hito no Mi, which was eaten by Chopper, is quite decent. Although some might discredit this Devil Fruit due to Chopper being rather weak, it is actually quite powerful. For instance, Chopper, using his many Rumble Balls, can utilize many fighting styles and, at the same time, also guard in very effective ways. In Whole Cake Island, he was able to momentarily hold back even Big Mom from destroying the Sunny while the cake was being transported to her. In Wano, he was able to hold back Queen for 30 minutes, which is yet another incredible showing of strength. This Devil Fruit might be somewhat underrated, if anything.
  • Recovery: Given that this is a regular Zoan type of Devil Fruit, the recovery rate it offers is greater than any Paramecia or Logia, however, it is not the best. This is especially true because Chopper’s Hito Hito no Mi relies heavily on the use of Rumble Balls. Once he utilizes these Rumble Balls, his body can suffer from the side effects. This is especially true when he utilizes the Monster Point. In Wano, Chopper was seen turning into Baby Geezer Chopper, which was another side effect that he suffered due to pushing his powers beyond limits. If anything, in terms of recovery, this Devil Fruit is actually at a disadvantage.
  • Awakening Status: Unfortunately, the regular Hito Hito no Mi has not been awakened by Chopper just yet. That said, utilizing Rumble Ball does suggest that Chopper can access advanced forms and is rather close to awakening. Still, one cannot say that this fruit is awakened, since the hamuragumo is not present around his neck.
  • Special Power: Given that Chopper's fruit is a regular Zoan, he does not have any special power. That said, he can bring out the very best of this ability using Rumble Balls, as fans have seen on many occasions in One Piece. These balls offer many special points to Chopper that allow him to utilize many human aspects with great ease. For instance, Chopper can use Brain Point to figure out the weaknesses of his opponents and this, while subtle, is an incredible ability and overpowered in its own way. He can even tap into the power of monstrous beings and that is what the Monster Point is a representation of. Clearly, the Hito Hito no Mi is far from your average Devil Fruit and fans certainly should appreciate this ability more than they do. In the future, Oda might even reveal more applications of this power and only add to the incredible arsenal that it has given to Chopper.

3 Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Onyudo

User: Onimaru

Hito Hito no Mi, Model Onyudo (1)

The Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Onyudo was recently introduced in One Piece during the Wano Country arc. From all the Hito Hito no Mi Devil Fruits, this is one that fans have seen least of so far. This fruit was eaten by none other than Onimaru, the loyal fox of Ushimaru, the Daimyo of the Ringo region of Wano Country. Onimaru consumed the Devil Fruit some time after the death of his master and this fruit granted immense power to him. The Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Onyudo allows him to transform himself into a giant human monk warrior at will.

When in this form, Onimaru goes by the name of Gyukimaru of the Oihagi Bridge. Over the years, Onimaru has used the powers of this Devil Fruit to guard Ringo and all the graves there that carried weapons. More importantly, he stole weapons from other people and added them to his collection, which just goes to show that this Devil Fruit grants a massive power boost to him. With its powers, he was able to contest even Zoro for an extended period of time without much trouble. The Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Onyudo also falls in the Mythical Zoan category but fans don't know much about it as its powers were barely displayed in the Wano Country arc.

  • Strength: The Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Onyudo is a very interesting Devil Fruit, as it makes a tiny fox such as Onimaru capable of fighting against two sword style Zoro. This is a massive strength boost and, given that, in some instances, Onimaru was actually able to overpower Zoro, it is a clear indication of the amazing strength boost that this Devil Fruit can give. The strength aspect of this Devil Fruit might be wasted on a fox, however, it is certainly not to be underestimated.
  • Recovery: The recovery rate offered by the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Onyudo is incredible. Onimaru, on many occasions, suffered from terrible injuries, however, his fruit saw to it that he recovered rather quickly. Given that this fruit is a Mythical Zoan, the recovery aspect of its powers is much greater than an average Zoan.
  • Awakening Status: The Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Onyudo has not been awakened just yet. Given that Onimaru is not going to be an active player at any point in the future of the story, this Devil Fruit will likely stay unawakened forever.
  • Special Power: The Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Onyudo doesn't seem to have a special power. If it does, fans will likely never find out given that Oda will not be focusing on it in the future. Since Onimaru was not a major character in the Wano arc, it is highly unlikely that fans will get to see this Devil Fruit or its user ever again. Even if they do, the powers of this Devil Fruit will most certainly not be explained further, which means the special abilities that it offers will forever remain shrouded in mystery. Nonetheless, this fruit was certainly interesting.

2 Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Daibutsu

User: Sengoku

Sengoku Fighting In His Buddha Form In One Piece

The Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Daibutsu is a subtype of the Hito Hito no Mi and falls in the Mythical Zoan class. This fruit was eaten by none other than the former Fleet Admiral of the Navy, Sengoku. Being a Mythical Zoan, this fruit is extremely special, considered to be rarer than even the famed Logia class of the One Piece world. This fruit allows him to turn himself into a giant golden Buddha at will. As expected, Sengoku can also use the hybrid form of this fruit, however, it is unknown what exactly that looks like.

As with all Mythical Zoan fruits, this Devil Fruit allows Sengoku to use a special ability that is unique to him. In his case, he can create shockwaves from the palms of his hands. These shockwaves are known to be exceptionally powerful and in the Marineford arc, they proved to be a match for the quakes produced by the Gura Gura no Mi. As expected, this fruit is extraordinary and more of its powers will be revealed to the fans later on in the future.

  • Strength: The strength of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Daibutsu is incredible. Using this Devil Fruit, Sengoku was able to put himself on par with the likes of Roger, Whitebeard, and Shiki in the old era. There is absolutely no denying the fact that this is one of the strongest Devil Fruits in One Piece.
  • Recovery: The recovery rate of this Devil Fruit is far greater than the normal Zoans. This is indicated by the fact that Sengoku was already rather well after the conclusion of the Paramount War.
  • Awakening Status: This Devil Fruit is not awakened just yet. However, it might have an awakening that fans will be introduced to later.
  • Special Power: The special power of this Devil Fruit is to be able to produce shock waves from the palms of the user. These shockwaves are devastating and can cause significant damage, comparable to the quakes of Whitebeard's Devil Fruit. What's more, these shockwaves could hold their own against fighters such as Roger, as he himself considered Sengoku to be a worthy rival. Surely, the power to control shockwaves is a terrific ability and Sengoku has learned to utilize them to the very fullest. What's incredible about his shockwaves is that they can pass through even the thickest of armors and, in a way, they cannot be guarded against. Even enemies with a defense as powerful as Kaido would not be able to defend against it.

1 Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika

User: Monkey D. Luffy

Gear 5th Luffy Nika

The Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika was recently revealed in the story during the Wano Country arc, however, the fruit is actually the very first one to be introduced in One Piece. It made its debut in the very first chapter of the manga and was seen during Luffy's flashback. The fruit was originally stolen by Shanks from a government vessel that was guarded by none other than the CP9 member, Who's Who. This fruit was then brought over to Fusha Village in the East Blue where Luffy ended up consuming it.

To the rest of the world, this fruit is simply known as the Gomu Gomu no Mi, but its powers are far greater than that. The true power of this Devil Fruit, however, only comes forth when it is awakened. This fruit grants the user a rubber body and the ability to fight with immense freedom, bringing smiles to the faces of all the people in the world. Once awakened, these powers get even greater and the user fights with even more freedom. It is believed that there is no power more ridiculous in the entire world.

  • Strength: In terms of strength, the Nika Devil Fruit is absolutely incredible, as was evident from Luffy creating an island-sized fist in the Wano Country arc. There is no limit to what Luffy can and cannot do using this power.
  • Recovery: The recovery rate of this Devil Fruit is incredible. The fact that Luffy has always recovered fast from his injuries is also partially down to this amazing Devil Fruit.
  • Awakening Status: The Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika has been awakened by Luffy.
  • Special Power: The special power of the Nika Devil Fruit is to simply be able to do whatever he wishes, as long as it is something that he can imagine. Luffy can use the power of imagination in the most incredible ways. This has already been seen on a few occasions in the story where Luffy has done things that are impossible for normal people to do, such as create goggles out of thin air, or run in the air, along with doing some other ridiculous things. The power of the Nika fruit lies in the freedom that it offers and it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that the biggest ability it offers is simply allowing Luffy to be as free as he wants and imagining himself with whatever power he likes.
