He has helped tons of people on his journey for the smallest of reasons. His heroics started way before he entered the Grand Line. In the East Blue Saga, he beat Arlong to help Nami get her village back. Luffy also took down Don Kreig and stopped him from taking over Zeff's ship.

With things heating up in One Piece, these characters might be prompted to take action.

As his adventures have continued, Luffy has moved on to do even bigger things, including liberating entire countries from the rule of oppressive kings. These achievements are similar to those of Nika, an ancient deity who was known as the "Warrior of Liberation." Interestingly, Luffy's Devil Fruit allows him to transform into the Sun God, and like Nika, he too has brought smiles to the faces of the downtrodden.

4 Alabasta

Saved From: Crocodile And Baroque Works

The barren land in Alabasta

Alabasta is an arid country that the Straw Hats visited after entering the Grand Line. The kingdom is ruled by the Nefertari family, which is one of the twenty founding families of the World Government. However, they went to live back in Alabasta instead of staying in Marijoa. When Straw Hats visited Alabasta, it was on the brink of a civil war. The civilians were led to believe that the royal family was not doing anything while the entire country was thirsty for water.

They didn't know that it was all the doing of Crocodile, the leader of the Baroque Works, who was trying to ruin the kingdom. Crocodile's plan was almost immaculate, and it is safe to say that without external intervention, he would have successfully achieved his goal. While the rest of the Straw Hats fought the other Baroque Works members, it was Luffy who clashed with Crocodile. Even after being defeated two times, Luffy did not give up and proceeded to beat Crocodile on his third and final attempt. Thus, he successfully liberated the country and saved it from massive bloodshed.

There was a time when people would try to skip Skypiea, as they thought it was too boring, but after the recent developments in the manga, fans have realized how important the arc really is. When the Straw Hats traveled to Skypiea, they learned about Enel and his sadistic ways. With the combination of his Devil Fruit and Kenbunshoku Haki, Enel was able to monitor everything happening on Skypiea. He attacked many innocent people who spoke against him.

Fighting Enel was never going to be an easy job, even for someone like Luffy. The so-called God of Skypiea had a Logia-type Devil Fruit that enabled him to control lightning. Unfortunately for him, Luffy's rubbery body made him Enel's natural enemy. Enel dominated the fight for the most part, but it was Luffy who came out on top. With Enel's defeat, the people of Skypiea could once again live in peace without having to fear for their lives.

2 Dressrosa

Saved From: Donquixote Doflamingo And His Crew

dressrosa one piece country liberated by luffy

At first impression, Dressrosa looked like a fantastic country that had no problems whatsoever, but in due time, the dark side of Doflamingo's reign came to light. The Shichibukai had used Sugar's Devil Fruit power to turn anyone who opposed him into a toy, due to which everyone forgot about their existence.

To cover more ground, the Straw Hats decided to split up, with one team going to Zou while the other stayed in Dressrosa. Luffy was competing in the competition at the Corrida Colosseum when he met Rebecca. She offered him her lunch, and Luffy was more than happy to eat. When he learned about what Doflamingo had done, Luffy decided to take down the king at all costs. Luffy used Gear Fourth to fight, and Doflamingo was severely outclassed. The battle would have reached its conclusion much quicker if Luffy had better control over his new power. Despite the delay, he eventually upended Doflamingo's rule in Dressrosa.

1 Wano

Saved From: Kaido And Orochi

Wano

The country of Wano is cut off from the rest of the world, and it has kept the borders closed for many years. Kaido came to the country and forcefully took over. Things were grim in Wano, but the people had no other choice. After forming an alliance with Law and Momonosuke, Luffy decided to take down Kaido and liberate Wano. It took a while for the alliance to get ready for the big battle on Onigashima. The two Yonko were at the top, waiting to face the new generation.

Luffy was accompanied by the other Supernovas, but they didn't seem to have a shot at victory as long as both the Yonko were together. So they decided to separate them. Their efforts were successful, and it enabled Luffy to fight Kaido on his own.

As expected, Luffy struggled a lot in the fight, but with some help from his friends and his own willpower, he managed to prevail. Everyone was shocked to see Luffy beat the strongest creature in the world. With Kaido's defeat, Momonosuke could finally take his rightful place as the Shogun of Wano and lead the country into a brand-new era.
