Blackbeard is one of the four most influential pirates in One Piece, but things weren't always good for him. Many years prior to the story, Blackbeard joined the Whitebeard Pirates. His motive was to find the Yami Yami no Mi. Unfortunately, Thatch got his hands on the Devil Fruit, which forced Blackbeard to murder him. After breaking the biggest rule on Whitebeard's ship, Blackbeard had no choice but to run away.
Following his departure, he formed the Blackbeard Pirates and became a Shichibukai. Blackbeard eventually rose to the position of a Yonko and solidified himself as one of the most powerful characters in One Piece. It is clear that the Yami Yami no Mi played a crucial role in his rise, but there are some Devil Fruits that are just as good, if not better.
6 Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika
The first Devil Fruit that comes to mind is Luffy's Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. It is a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows its user to access the power of the ancient Sun God. For the majority of the series, Luffy was unaware of the true nature of his Devil Fruit.
He believed that it only had the properties of rubber and was a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit. Despite his limited knowledge, Luffy still managed to develop new Gears to enhance his power and take down strong foes. When he eventually figured out its power, Luffy awakened his Devil Fruit and named it Gear 5th. In this transformation, Luffy's physical abilities reach new levels, allowing him to take down much more powerful opponents.
5 Gura Gura no Mi
The Gura Gura no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that originally belonged to Whitebeard. It is unknown when he consumed the Devil Fruit, but it was very likely before he joined the Rocks Pirates. The Gura Gura no Mi helped Whitebeard to become the "Strongest Man in the World."
He was able to create dangerous quakes that could destroy an entire island with ease. Due to this reason, the pirate was said to have the power to destroy the world. He gave the audience a glimpse of his power in the Marineford arc, where his quakes took down hundreds of Marines. After his death, the Devil Fruit was stolen by Blackbeard.
4 Magu Magu no Mi
The Logia-types are considered to be the rarest type of Devil Fruits. So any Devil Fruit belonging to this class is extremely strong. The Magu Magu no Mi is one of the most deadly powers in One Piece. It was eaten by Akainu, who is the current Fleet Admiral.
Using the Devil Fruit, Akainu can create and manipulate magma at will. Given the nature of the element, the Magu Magu no Mi has very high destructive power. Akainu utilized the Devil Fruit's strength to melt half of Whitebeard's face and later defeat Aokiji in Punk Hazard. Akainu also used the Magu Magu no Mi to overwhelm Ace in Marineford. There is no doubt that Akainu's Devil Fruit is almost as strong as the Yami Yami no Mi.
3 Ope Ope no Mi
The Ope Ope no Mi is widely believed to be the most overpowered Devil Fruit in the series. So, it's hardly surprising that Diez Barrels demanded a sum of five billion berries for it. The Devil Fruit was stolen by Corazon and ultimately eaten by Trafalgar Law. The Ope Ope no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows its user to create ROOMs and manipulate everything inside them.
This makes it perfect for all kinds of medical procedures, but Law mainly uses it for fighting. Law has developed various techniques that allow him to bypass the defenses of his foes effortlessly. After awakening his Devil Fruit, Law came up with even more powerful abilities, one of which created a soundproof ROOM around the opponent, preventing their voice from reaching others.
2 Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu
The Uo Uo no Mi is a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit, which belonged to Kaido. He was given the Devil Fruit by Big Mom before the Rocks Pirates eventually disbanded. As a Zoan-type Devil Fruit, the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu granted Kaido an unbelievable amount of physical strength.
Kaido could turn into a fully-fledged Azure dragon, which had enough firepower to blow the top of a mountain. He could also use the hybrid version if he was facing a strong opponent. The scales that covered his skin made it impossible to injure him without having a ridiculously powerful Haki.
1 Soru Soru no Mi
Big Mom had the reputation of being one of the most fearsome pirates in the world. A big reason for her strength was her Soru Soru no Mi. Big Mom obtained the Devil Fruit by devouring Mother Caramel during her rampage in Elbaf. The Paramecia-type Devil Fruit allowed Big Mom to manipulate her soul and that of others.
However, the Soru Soru no Mi's power only worked on people if they were afraid of her. Given the fact that she was an absolute behemoth, it was a rare occurrence for a person to not be scared of Big Mom. Once the condition was met, she could steal the entire life span of an individual, resulting in their immediate death. Big Mom could also use part of her own soul to increase her damage output.
