Highlights

  • Devil Fruits grant immense power with little effort, while Haki requires more training and skill to bypass them.
  • Some Devil Fruits are immune to regular Haki, requiring powerful Advanced Haki to counter their abilities.
  • Unique Devil Fruits like Uo Uo no Mi and Yami Yami no Mi pose challenges even for strong characters with Haki.

In One Piece, there are two ways to gain power: Devil Fruits and Haki. Most characters in the series lean towards Devil Fruits, as they grant an outrageous amount of strength with very little effort. Those who rely on Haki have to train more and ensure that they can bypass the power of Devil Fruits.

Before becoming one of the Yonko, Luffy suffered numerous setbacks in One Piece.

However, there are certain Devil Fruits that are so powerful that it is almost impossible to nullify their abilities. These Devil Fruits are rare, and they offer their users incredible strength. One Piece characters who want to cancel out the power of these Devil Fruits have to use Advanced Versions of Haki, as they are immune to normal Haki.

It is not possible for a Devil Fruit to be completely immune to Haki, but some Devil Fruits have a higher threshold. They require extremely potent Haki, which only some characters possess.

6 Ope Ope no Mi

Type: Paramecia

One Piece Episode 1094 Release

The Ope Ope no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that belongs to Trafalgar Law. He ate the Devil Fruit at a very young age, and over time, he nearly perfected his control. The Ope Ope no Mi allows Law to create ROOMs in which he can control everything, including the movement of others.

So far, Law has managed to cut through the bodies of multiple Haki users who were inside the ROOMs. Law's abilities even bypassed the defenses of characters such as Big Mom and Blackbeard, who had good Haki. The only time that he failed to leave any kind of impact was against Kaido, who possessed an insanely powerful Haki.

One Piece: 6 Characters Who Have Yet To Master Their Devil Fruits

These One Piece characters haven't unlocked the true potential of their Devil Fruits.

Thanks to the toughened skin from the Devil Fruit, it was nearly impossible to damage Kaido. He was caught several times, after which he was supposed to be beheaded. But the durable exterior prevented that from happening. In the Wano Country arc, it was clear that Kaido could not be damaged by regular Haki. So, in a sense, his Devil Fruit was completely immune to it. Luffy had to use Advanced Conqueror's Haki and Gear 5th to deal serious damage to the Yonko.

4 Yami Yami no Mi

Type: Logia

Blackbeard Yami Yami no Mi Devil Fruits Immune To Haki

The Yami Yami no Mi is the only Logia-type Devil Fruit that doesn't grant its user the ability to reshape their body after being hit. However, it more than makes up for this weakness. The Yami Yami no Mi allows Blackbeard to control darkness.

It allows Blackbeard to completely nullify the abilities of other Devil Fruit users. He has used this power to defeat strong characters such as Ace, Marco, and Law. All three characters had knowledge of Haki, but they couldn't do anything against his Devil Fruit. This strongly implies that the Yami Yami no Mi is unaffected by weak Haki.

3 Bari Bari no Mi

Type: Paramecia

Bartolomew using his devil fruit

The Bari Bari no Mi is currently in the possession of Bartolomew. His Devil Fruit is rather remarkable, as it allows him to create a barrier with which he can block all incoming attacks. In the Dressrosa Arc, he managed to stop an attack by Elizabello, which was considered strong enough to take down a Yonko.

The CP0 is a dangerous organization and these are the members currently in their ranks.

Previously, the Devil Fruit belonged to Kurozumi Semimaru. The barrier that he erected was durable enough to withstand a blow from the mighty Kozuki Oden. The samurai was known for his immensely powerful Haki, and yet his strike did no damage to Semimaru. With Bartolomew still part of the story, it is very likely that fans will get to see the Bari Bari no Mi in action again.

2 Bara Bara no Mi

Type: Paramecia

yonko buggy clown

The Bara Bara no Mi belongs to Buggy, who is one of the Yonko and the current leader of Cross Guild. He gained the power accidentally after being startled by Shanks. The Bara Bara no Mi allows him to split his body into multiple parts and control them at will. In the hands of someone better, this Devil Fruit could have become one of the most powerful in One Piece. Unfortunately, Buggy has never tried to improve his control over it.

What makes Buggy's Bara Bara no Mi remarkable is that swordsmen cannot damage him at all. Even Dracule Mihawk, an expert at using Busoshoku Haki couldn't hurt Buggy. So, the Bara Bara no Mi is immune to chopping and cutting, even if those attacks are imbued with Haki.

1 Mero Mero no Mi

Type: Paramecia

boa-hancock one piece new members of cross guild

The Mero Mero no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit. It belongs to Boa Hancock, the captain of the Kuja Pirates. She was forcibly fed the Devil Fruit by the Celestial Dragons. They wanted Hancock to use its power to entertain them. Luckily, Fisher Tiger helped Hancock and her sisters escape from Marijoa.

With time, Hancock learned to master its power and used it to propel herself to the top of the pirate rankings. Hancock's Devil Fruit is unaffected by Haki to a certain extent, in the sense that anyone petrified by its power cannot be turned back unless she decides to undo it.
