One Piece Fans Are Concerned Over Oda's Health

Oda's health has the fans concerned. Here's what One Piece fans need to know about One Piece's latest breaks.

This week's chapter was certainly not the most intense, but in terms of secrets and reveals, it was certainly massive.

The Chaos All Over The World

The World Reacted To The Truth About The Ancient Weapons

One Piece chapter 1116 opened up on a very exciting note. Fans got to see the reaction of people all over the world to the news from Vegapunk that the war that started around 900 years ago is still raging on in utter secrecy. This was a bit too unbelievable for quite a few people, however, at the same time, with everything that Vegapunk had predicted coming true, there wasn't enough room for doubt at all. Curiously enough, fans also got to see their first look at Nefertari Lily. This is an individual who was only shown in the silhouette before, and in this chapter, fans got to see a proper portrait of her hung in Imu’s room. It is unclear what kind of a relationship Imu had with Lily, and what Imu did to her. However, these are things that will surely be answered later down the line in One Piece.

Speaking of Lily, fans also got to see glimpses of the kingdom of Arabasta in this chapter. A proper funeral was being held for King Cobra of Alabasta, who was now being buried in the Tomb of the Kings, which fans have seen previously in the Arabasta Arc. At the same time, Igaram was seen spreading missing posters of Vivi and it appears that nobody has any idea where exactly she is.

Vegapunk's Sin

Vegapunk's Creation Of The Mother Flame Led To Lulusia’s Erasure

Quite easily, the most intriguing part of the chapter was pertaining to the Mother Flame. Vegapunk finally tackled the secrets of his greatest invention ever and that is the Mother Flame. Clearly, Vegapunk implied that he ended up creating the Mother Flame somehow, though it is incomplete. The process that led to the creation of this thing was not explained in the series, however, what was explained was that Vegapunk intended for it to be used for good purposes. As has been mentioned by Vegapunk before, he wants to create an undying source of energy. It appears that the Mother Flame is this undying source. This source of energy could go on to end wars, and possibly end catastrophes like starvation, and lack of energy, among many other things.

I have at last reached a practical stage of my life's work… The Mother Flame, a fire that never goes out!! It is an energy source that will one day in the future enrich the lives of people all over the world!

Vegapunk had essentially cracked one of the biggest problems that has plagued humanity. However, little did he know that this technology would be used for evil purposes. As mentioned by Vegapunk himself, a portion of the Mother Flame was stolen from him by someone. This piece of the Mother Flame was then sent to the World Government, and eventually, he confirmed his suspicions when he saw lights above the skies of Lulusia and then, subsequently, the destruction of this Kingdom.

One Piece: The Iron Giant Vs The Five Elders, Explained

The Iron Giant is a major playing force in Egghead Island. He will fight the Five Elders in One Piece.

This is what Vegapunk was especially sad about. His invention was essentially used to cause mass murder which he did not intend. He developed the Mother Flame for something else entirely, and the Government used it to cause destruction. Vegapunk was deeply apologetic about this and believed himself to be a tool.

The only bright side of things here is the fact that Vegapunk finally realized that it was a man-made disaster that caused the giant flooding that happened recently, and that long ago, the Ancient Weapons were used to sink the world as well.

The Transponder Snail Is Finally Detected

The Transponder Snail Is Inside The Iron Giant

One Piece chapter 1116 also tackled the biggest mystery of the location of the transponder snail. The Five Elders had been looking for this transponder snail for quite a while now, and they were unlucky in their attempts so far. The message might just be almost done as well, but there could still be some important bits that Vegapunk has not revealed yet. As such, the idea here is to get rid of the snail anyway because Vegapunk could still reveal something even more dangerous. In this chapter, York was finally able to figure out the location of the transponder snail and she immediately communicated with the Elders to make them aware of it.

Elders, I've figured out where the snail is. It is currently in the Fabriophase, being guarded by the Iron Giant!!

She mentioned that the snail is in the Fabriophase and that it is being guarded by none other than the Iron Giant. This was absolutely massive in terms of moving the plot forward, and now, all the Elders will move back to the Fabriophase, where they will have to fight back against the Iron Giant. This fight might not be as easy as fans expected to be for the Elders, and that is exactly what makes it nerve-wracking.

The Roger Pirates And Their Secrets

The Roger Pirates Found Out The Truth About The World

As Vegapunk admitted to his sin in One Piece chapter 1116, he also criticized some other individuals. For instance, Vegapunk was not entirely pleased with Joyboy's decision to pass on the ancient weapons to the next generation. According to Vegapunk, the world has sunk enough already and further usage of the ancient weapons will only cause more damage and loss of life. As such, Vegapunk cannot say who exactly is right or wrong here. This is precisely why he mentioned previously that he was unaware of whether there was a good and a bad side to the war that was being fought.

At the same time, he also threw the blame on the Roger Pirates. Vegapunk is well aware of the fact that Roger discovered the truth of the world when he completed his journey. Yet, he chose to tell nobody about it and while that could have potentially saved some lives, Roger chose to keep quiet and handed himself over to the Navy. The Roger Pirates, who also know a lot, did not do anything about it either. All this points towards the fact that they were quiet on purpose when they could have acted. Vegapunk questions them greatly in the chapter. Fans did get to see some members of the Roger Pirates who were pretty adamant about their decision as well.

Rayleigh, for instance, called himself an old man and ask Vegapunk to simply keep quiet and let the next generation follow their own adventure and arrive at their own answers. This is very interesting and fans know that Joyboy certainly had his own reasons for what he did, and so did Roger. Of course, fans will only find the answer to these questions when Luffy reaches Laugh Tale and, when that happens, the Great War will erupt and the world will face a risk of being sunk.

One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1117, is set to be June 17, 2024.
