One Piece chapter 1101 was nothing short of extraordinary and, while some parts of it were just decent, others were absolutely extraordinary and shocked the fans to their very core. In a chapter that focused quite a lot on Kuma’s continuous development towards becoming a Pacifista and Bonney's attempt to set out to the sea, One Piece delivered what would be considered one of the most interesting chapters in the flashback.

Kuma Finds Luffy

At the end of the previous chapter, fans saw Kuma in the East Blue. This was quite surprising to all the fans, given that a character such as Kuma being there meant that he could have known about Luffy. While there were many ideas surrounding why Kuma was in the East Blue, One Piece chapter 1101 cleared that up quite well. Kuma was observing Luffy in the East Blue. Using his ability, he snuck up on Luffy and watched him train. During this time, Luffy was practicing his finishing moves and, this particular move was the Gum Gum Battle Axe, which he later used to defeat Arlong.

From a very young age, fans could see that Luffy's mind was set on protecting his crewmates from any danger that they would face. He was planning to be a responsible captain from the very beginning and that was certainly a nice touch. It was also revealed to the fans that Kuma already knew that Luffy was Dragon's very own child. Had previously brought this up to Dragon, however, Dragon considered this a death sentence for himself. This was because according to him, a child is a parent's weakness and Dragon simply wanted to keep Luffy safe and, at the same time, his revolution alive as well. Had the world known that Luffy was Dragon's son, he would then be targeted and Dragon's revolution could then be threatened as well.

Kuma Writes To Bonney

One Piece chapter 1101 also saw Kuma save lives here and there and, more importantly, continue to aid the Revolutionary Army. Despite not officially being a member of the Army, Kuma did what little he could do without getting his name out in the public. Kuma tried to save the Revolutionary Army whenever their backs were against the wall and then used his ability to vanish as soon as possible. This became a routine for him and just goes to show how much of a responsibility he feels towards this incredible group of people. While he was on his journey, Kuma also continued to write to Bonney. Every month, Kuma sent around 10 letters to Bonney, however, it was revealed later down the line that these letters never really reached Bonney. This is because Alpha, the member of the CP8 that was introduced in the previous chapter, saw to it that Bonney did not receive any word from her father.

She did this for fun and tore every single letter that he sent her way. Meanwhile, Bonney was seen anticipating these letters every month, however, she never received even a single letter, which was nothing but disappointment for her. Kuma continued his progress towards the Pacificista project as well. Fans also got to see Stussy in the chapter and it was quite fun to see Kuma become familiar with those around him, even if his fate was grim to begin with. At the same time, the chapter also showcased Vegapunk's continuous developments in the field of science. By this time, Vegapunk had successfully managed to advance Egghead Island quite a lot. He had cut off his own head and separated his brain from his body. Vegapunk had also devised a strategy to make his brain float over Egghead Island, which, as fans know, is the case currently. All these developments and more were discussed in One Piece chapter 1101.

Bonney's 9th Birthday

One Piece chapter 1101 also focused on Bonney's birthday. Oftentimes, the timeline of the Kuma flashback has been rather confusing. However, thanks to this particular event that was covered in One Piece chapter 1101, fans now know that these events are one year prior to the beginning of the story. At this time, Bonney was seen celebrating her 9th birthday, which means that she is now edging closer towards the beginning of her journey as a pirate. Bonney was seen waiting for Kuma's letters once again, however, she had no luck. Thankfully, Grandma Connie came in clutch once again as she found out key information related to the Government agents. They realized that the government agents were there to keep Bonney a prisoner to make Kuma keep his end of the deal. This is precisely how Bonney formulated an escape strategy and it is safe to say that it worked, even though it was quite risky.

Bonney's goal would then be to set out to the sea and attempt to find her father and, later on, save him from the fate that he was faced with. Fans will most likely see much more of her journey as a pirate in the upcoming chapters.

Bonney's Escape To The Sea

The end of One Piece chapter 1101 was certainly incredible and it saw Bonney finally setting out to the sea. Bonney's friends, Gyogyo and the others had created a beautiful pirate ship for her which they decorated like a pizza. Meanwhile, Bonney was seen using her Devil Fruit power to take the form of Connie and trick Alpha into escaping to the sea. By this time, Bonney's Sapphire Scale Disease had completely healed, which meant that this was the very first time that she set foot in the sun in her entire life. She managed to successfully reach the shore where she boarded the ship, however, by this time, Alpha had already figured out the strategy and rushed to stop her.

Using her Six Powers such as Soru and Geppo, she rushed towards Bonney in an attempt to stop her and that is when she did something miraculous. Using the power of Distorted Future, Bonney imagined herself to be like Nika and was able to summon his powers. It appeared almost as if Bonney had the Nika fruit itself and she could use an ability similar to gigantification to punch down Alpha, the CP8 agent, and knock her out completely. With that, Bonney then set out to the sea and officially became a pirate in an attempt to locate and rescue Kuma.

One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. Since One Piece is going to be on break, the release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1102, is set to be December 25, 2023.
