The latest chapter of One Piece was ridiculously good. As it was the final chapter before the one-month-long break, the fans had high expectations from it, and suffice to say, Oda delivered on all fronts.
The chapter ended on a cliffhanger, which only enticed the fans even further., and in a very short time, multiple theories have surfaced pertaining to what will happen in the "Final Saga" of One Piece.One Piece Chapter 1053 was filled with a great deal of information and surprises. With so many new revelations, it is tough to decide, which was the biggest surprise in the chapter.
The New Yonko
After the confirmation of Luffy's victory over Kaido, everyone in Wano was jubilant as their years of suffering had ended. For countless years, they had lived under Kaido's cruel rule. Most of the people didn't have access to food or clean drinking water. With Luffy's triumph, they could breathe a sigh of relief and go back to living properly. Luffy's victory also played a significant role in escalating his position as one of the strongest pirates in the world. In One Piece 1053, it was revealed that Luffy had officially become one of the Yonko.
Kaido wasn't the only Yonko, who was defeated in the Wano Country arc. His former crewmate, Big Mom also suffered defeat at the hands of Eustass Kid and Trafalgar Law, and because of this reason there was a chance that they could be named the Yonko, however, Oda managed to surprise the fans with the fourth Yonko. Oda included Buggy as the fourth Yonko, and the reason is simple— Buggy was a member of the Roger Pirates, who are the most infamous pirate crew in history. Furthermore, Buggy was also involved in the Summit War that took place on Marineford, and during the war, the entire world came under the impression that Buggy was Shanks' close friend. This created a false image of Buggy, and after the war was over, Buggy was offered the position of a Shichibukai, and this was all due to his reputation. So, the new Yonko are as follows— Shanks, Blackbeard, Luffy, and Buggy.
Bounties of Supernovas
The Wano Country arc featured many big-name pirates— two of the Yonko, and several members of the Worst Generation. The two Yonko were monstrously powerful, and at one point, it looked impossible that they would be defeated. Kaido was taken down by Luffy, who had to improve at a rapid pace in order to fight the Yonko. Luffy managed to learn how to use Advanced Conqueror's Haki, which allowed him to hurt Kaido. However, Luffy still needed help from Yamato and Momonosuke to regain his strength and fight again. While fighting Kaido, Luffy received a devastating blow to his body, which knocked him out, but this incident also helped Luffy to awaken the true power of his Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. With his devil fruit awakening, Luffy was finally able to knock out Kaido and end his reign.
Big Mom had followed the Straw Hats after their exploits in Totto Land. She was furious and wanted revenge for the disrespect that they caused her, but little did she know that her rule as a Yonko would come to an end in Wano. Initially, Big Mom and Kaido fought together, and the Worst Generation was struggling to deal with the two of them at the same time, so they decided to separate them, and they were successful in doing so. Big Mom was confronted by Trafalgar Law and Eustass Kid, both of whom had not been impressive in terms of feats, so this was their chance to shine, and the two young captains delivered. They used their awakened devil fruit powers to defeat Big Mom. After their respective victories, Luffy, Law, and Kid received a bounty of 3 Billion beris each.
Ryokugyu
In the previous chapter, it was revealed that Navy Admiral Ryokugyu would finally be making an appearance. Previously, he had made an appearance in the Reverie arc, but only his silhouette was shown. In One Piece 1053, Ryokugyu appeared and nullified the threat of the remainder of the Beasts Pirates. The Admiral was seen using his devil fruit power to ensure that King and Queen don't cause him any trouble. The name of Ryokugyu's devil fruit remains a mystery, but the root-esque structures suggest that it might be related to plants.
Kozuki Sukiyaki and Pluton
Arguably the biggest surprise of the chapter was seeing Nico Robin speaking to Kozuki Sukiyaki, who was presumed to have died years ago. They were seen talking about one of the Ancient Weapons, namely the Pluton. While talking to Robin, Sukiyaki told her how he managed to survive all these and that he wants to keep his identity hidden from Momonosuke.
Robin and the former Shogun briefly discussed the whereabouts of Pluton. Sukiyaki confirmed that Pluton was indeed in Wano, which almost confirms that the fans will soon see the second Ancient Weapon.
There is no doubt that One Piece 1053 was amazing, but as Oda has the habit of outdoing himself, the fans can expect him to supplant the expectations once again in chapter 1054.
