Catarina Devon is the sixth ship captain of the Blackbeard Pirates and quite an interesting character in One Piece. Known to have been a level six prisoner in Impel Down once, she was broken free by none other than Blackbeard, and after the events of Marineford, she permanently joined his pirate crew, eventually helping them rise to great infamy by making Blackbeard one of the Emperors of the Sea. Currently, the Blackbeard Pirates are one of the most ferocious forces on the seas, and this pirate crew has continued to go from strength to strength over the years.

Most of them, as fans know already, have been hunting down Devil Fruit powers, and Catarina Devon has acquired a very special power indeed. During the Wano Country Arc, fans finally found out that Catarina Devon had acquired a special power that belonged to the Mythical Zoan in class. This Devil Fruit is the gateway to her acquiring more dangerous abilities, as fans have seen in the recent chapters of One Piece.

Caterina Devon did not have a Devil Fruit when she was locked in Impel Down Level Six. At the very least, fans are led to believe this. However, once Blackbeard acquired the Devil Fruit of Whitebeard and knew stealing Devil Fruits was something that he could do easily, the Blackbeard Pirates went on a hunt for powerful fruits. This was confirmed by Jinbe in the Fishman Island Arc, and of course, ever since then, this Pirate Crew has been hunting down several strong abilities for themselves. At some point, Caterina Devon came across the Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Kyubi no Kitsune, or the Nine-Tailed Fox Devil Fruit. This Devil Fruit was first seen in the Wano Country arc, in the interval between Act 1 and Act 2. At that time, Gecko Moria, a former Warlord of the Sea, was seen arriving on the Pirate Island in search of Absalom, his underling. However, he was met by none other than Catarina Devon, who had taken the form of Absalom somehow.

Shortly after, when he was struck down by Shiryu, it was revealed that Devon had actually transformed into Absalom using the power of the Nine-Tails fruit. At the time, it became evident to the fans that the Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Nine Tailed Fox is a very special power the abilities of which are similar to that of the Mane Mane no Mi. As some fans would remember, the Mane Mane no Mi allows the user to take the form of anyone whose face they touch. This Devil Fruit currently belongs to none other than Bon Clay, a former member of Baroque Works. Knowing Devon's fruit could do this made her power very special, however, it didn't excite the fans all that much, simply because there was already a Devil Fruit capable of copying appearances in One Piece. However, now, a new layer has been added to this power.

In One Piece chapter 1107, it was implied that Catarina Devon could actually copy not just the appearance, but also the ability of another Devil Fruit user. Perhaps, this only applied to Zoan types, or perhaps, it applies to all abilities in general. Fans do not know that as of yet, however, in One Piece chapter 1107, Caterina Devon touched Saint Saturn, stating that he has a delicious ability. This implies that touching Saturn will allow her to transform into an Ushi Oni, which would considerably boost her already amazing powers.

As mentioned above, Catarina Devon successfully copied Saint Saturn's abilities in One Piece chapter 1107. It appears that the only thing she needs to do to copy someone's powers is to touch them. However, this power likely only applies to Zoan types. Otherwise, Devon could simply touch the likes of Blackbeard and copy his abilities as well. It would make sense that this would allow her to transform into other creatures, given that a nine-tailed fox can take the form of someone, but not turn into something that is abstract, such as fire, or, another Paramecia for Logia type ability.

As such, it is safe to presume that Devon's Devil Fruit allows her to transform into anyone, and at the same time, if that person happens to have a Zoan-type transformation, then she can take that form for herself as well. In One Piece chapter 1107, she touched Saturn, which would mean that Devon can now transform into the Ushi Oni itself. Fans already know that the Ushi Oni is a very dangerous creature. This is a Mythical power, or perhaps an even more dangerous one, that allows Saturn to transform into somewhat of a mix between an ox and a spider. The powers of the Ushi Oni appear to be special as well. He can hit enemies without even touching them by making eye contact. This blow is strong enough to injure characters such as Luffy and Sanji. At the same time, he can even hold down people with an invisible force, which fans know nothing about at the moment. Perhaps, the strongest ability of the Ushi Oni is that it possesses an incredible regeneration factor. Any and all damage that the user takes is regenerated within seconds.

Now, Catarina Devon possesses this ability up her sleeve and this makes her one of the strongest individuals in One Piece already. How well she can use this power when compared to the original user remains to be seen. There is likely a time limit to how much she can use this, and at the same time, other restrictions that separate her from the actual user of the fruit. Regardless, this is an amazing ability that will push her to the very top. She is likely acquiring powerful Zoan fruits to copy and whoever ends up fighting her at the end of the story, be it Nami or Robin, will have an insurmountable task in front of them.

This fruit not only makes Devon a strong individual, but also raises this excitement for the fans in context to who she ends up fighting. Devon was rather unimpressive until recently, even being one-shot by Hancock, who didn't even look at her while defeating her. Now, she appears to be a force to be reckoned with, and fans will thoroughly enjoy her powers when they are put on display in the final saga.

For now, the monstrously powerful pirate that is Catarina Devon looks like she is ready to return to the Pirate Island, with Blackbeard heading back as well after having defeated the 3 billion berry man, Trafalgar Law. Fans might get to see the Blackbeard Pirates regroup very soon in One Piece, and from there onwards, the next phase of their mission to conquer the entire world will likely begin.
