Blackbeard is one of the Four Emperors of the Sea, which means that he is among the strongest characters in One Piece. Blackbeard has always been an enigmatic character. He cleverly planned his rise from obscurity to stardom. There is no doubt that Blackbeard's plans will be revealed at some point in the story. However, it might take some time before Oda finally decides to disclose Blackbeard's true intentions.

In the last ten chapters, Blackbeard has made several appearances, which is suspicious considering he rarely gets involved in the story. This could be a hint on Oda's part that since the series entered the final saga, it is time for the main villain to make his move. In One Piece chapter 1063, fans finally saw Blackbeard taking a major step toward his goal.

Chasing Fellow Worst Generation Members

Blackbeard vs Trafalgar Law

Blackbeard is a part of the Worst Generation, a group of infamous pirates, who are considered to be the next big thing in the pirating world. Blackbeard is known to be a very calculating individual, so he never wastes time or energy pursuing something that would be useless. Blackbeard seems to be very knowledgeable about history, and he also keeps tabs on all the events taking place in One Piece. This is a very rare trait, as most pirates are focused on pillaging and killing other people.

For a long time, Blackbeard did not engage in a fight with any of the big-name pirates, which some may consider cowardly, but it helped him to solidify his status as one of the Four Emperors. In One Piece chapter 1063, Blackbeard and his crew were seen chasing the Heart Pirates. It is unclear when the chase started, but given the poor condition of Law's submarine, it is possible that it had been going on for a while.

Why Is Blackbeard Chasing Law?

Blackbeard from One Piece

In the chapter, Blackbeard stated that he wanted to get his hands on the Road Poneglyphs that are currently in the possesion of Trafalgar Law. It is unclear how many Road Poneglyphs Blackbeard has, but it would be plausible to assume that he has access to at least one Road Poneglyph. Judging by the cover story, it seemed that Whole Cake Island was under attack by the Blackbeard Pirates. In the cover story, Charlotte Cracker and the rest of the buildings in Whole Cake Island were depicted as being frozen.

The only person capable of achieving this kind of feat is Aokiji. The former admiral has the Hie Hie no Mi, a logia type devil fruit that allows him to manipulate ice. The freezing ability of the devil fruit is immensely powerful as it only takes a few seconds to freeze a person completely. Aokiji joined the Blackbeard Pirates after being defeated by Akainu in their duel. It was surprising to see a person like him joining hands with arguably the most notorious pirate in the world. Aokiji probably went to Whole Cake Island to steal the Road Poneglyph and to kidnap Charlotte Pudding. The reason behind Pudding's kidnapping is quite simple. She is a member of the Three-Eye tribe, and once her third eye is awakened, she can read the Poneglyphs. This would help Blackbeard to reach Laugh Tale and claim the One Piece. Law has two Road Poneglyphs, which he found in Zou and in Wano. So, if he manages to defeat Trafalgar Law, then he would have a total of three.

By stealing Law's Road Poneglyphs, Blackbeard would be very close to the final Island. The fight between the two Worst Generation members is definitely going to be a spectacle. Law faces a stern test, and the chances of him passing are very small. Law does have a very powerful devil fruit at his disposal, but Blackbeard has the ability to nullify all kinds of devil fruit powers. So it comes down to their Haki and given the fact that Blackbeard is an Emperor it is likely that his Haki is superior to Law's. There is also a huge possibility that Blackbeard might end up killing Trafalgar Law and the reason could be the latter's devil fruit.

The Ope Ope no Mi has been called the "ultimate devil" fruit by Doflamingo, which suggests that there are a lot of things that only this fruit is capable of doing. One of these things is linked to the holy treasure of Marijoa. If somehow Blackbeard does know about the connection between the two things, then he wouldn't hesitate to finish off Law and steal his devil fruit. In any case, Law and his crew's future is in jeopardy. The odds are completely in favor of the Blackbeard Pirates, and it is highly unlikely that the Heart Pirates will be able to get away from them. Also, it looks increasingly possible for Trafalgar Law to die at the hands of Blackbeard. If this turns out to be true, then it would be an incredibly sad moment for the fans as Law has been involved in almost all the arcs since time skip. Seeing him die in a horrendous fashion would be absolutely heartbreaking. So, the fans can only hope that somehow Law manages to escape from the Blackbeard Pirates.
