The star combatant and the number two of the Straw Hat Pirates, Roronoa Zoro is an incredibly important character in One Piece. He aims to become the greatest swordsman in the world by surpassing Dracule Mihawk, the man who currently holds the title. And if his skills in the anime are any indication, he's well on his way.

After the two-year timeskip, Zoro has hardly received any worthy challenges. However, the Wano Country arc tested his limits and forced him to improve his skills even further. Consequently, Zoro ended up showing off quite a lot of abilities in the arc, most of which were never seen before.

6 Air Skips

Air Skips Zoro

One of Roronoa Zoro's newest abilities is the skill to skip in the air using his blades. By generating enough force from the swing of the two swords that he holds in his hands, Zoro is able to generate enough force to somewhat push hmself up in the air. As far as many fans can tell, this ability of his is very similar to Sanji's Sky Walk; however, it is a far inferior version. Zoro can neither fight, not levitate using this power.

Nonetheless, it came in handy on quite a few occasions in his fight against King the Wildfire, when he pushed him off of Onigashima. Had Zoro not had this ability, he would very well have fallen off the island and possibly even died. This certainly isn't the best ability that he gained in the arc, but is quite useful nonetheless.

5 Homura Saki

During the Onigashima section of the Wano Country arc, it was revealed that Zoro had practiced his sword skills even further. In doing so, he incorporated one of Kin'emon's signature techniques, called Homura Saki or Flame Rend, into his arsenal. Using this technique, Zoro gained the ability to split any fire with ease.

Zoro used this technique to cut through the flames of Kaido to guard Luffy. Later, he incorporated Homura Saki with one of his strongest techniques, called Rokudo no Tsuji, to cut Prometheus, the fire homie of Yonko Big Mom. It is possible that Zoro also made use of this technique when he cut through King's Karyudon and delivered the final blow to him.

4 Ashura

Zoro Asura Vs Kaido

Roronoa Zoro's Ashura finally made a return in the Wano Country arc when he fought Kaido on the rooftop of Onigashima. Prior to this fight, Zoro used Ashura on Sabaody Archipelago, which was before the timeskip in One Piece. Unlike his previous usage of Ashura, Zoro was able to use Armament Haki to increase the cutting power of his swords.

What's more, Zoro subconsciously coated his swords in Conqueror's Haki as well, allowing him to cut Kaido's tough skin and even scar him. Unfortunately, using the attack drained Zoro of what little energy he had left and, given the injuries that he was carrying, caused him to pass out shortly after.

3 Ryuo

Zoro using Enma

Ryuo is another name for Haki in the Land of Wano. Although Zoro already had the ability to use Haki since he trained under Mihawk during the two-year timeskip, he was able to draw out a higher level of Ryuo from his body in the Wano Country arc, thanks to Enma.

A special sword, Enma is known to draw Haki from the body of the wielder against their will. When Zoro allowed the sword to draw out more Ryuo from his body, he gained access to a higher degree of Ryuo and was able to cut through even Kaido's tough defense. Zoro's usage of Ryuo has improved drastically in the arc. Against King, Zoro once again used this power to the fullest by letting Enma draw as much Ryuo from his body as possible.

2 Conqueror's Haki – Basic

Zoro Conqueror's Haki

Conqueror's Haki is a rare power in the One Piece world that very few people are born with. This Haki allows one to impose their willpower on others, and intimidate them or knock them out completely. Having great ambition, it is no surprise that Zoro is a user of Conqueror's Haki.

He awakened this ability in the fight against Kaido on the rooftop, thanks to Enma's power of drawing out as much Haki as possible from his body. Later, when Zoro allowed his sword to draw out Haki from his body , he was seen knocking out several members of the Beasts Pirates by unleashing a powerful wave of Conqueror's Haki. With time, Zoro's Conqueror's Haki will only grow stronger.

1 Conqueror's Haki Infusion

One Piece 1036

Due to Enma's unique Haki abilities, Zora managed to tap into the power of Conqueror's Haki Infusion as well. This ability is known to be an advanced form of Conqueror's Haki, as it allows the user to coat their bodies in this Haki type instead of just using it to intimidate others.

According to Kaido, only the strongest characters in the story are strong enough to use Conqueror's Haki Infusion. In his fight against King, Zoro managed to tap into this power and finally gained enough power to overcome a Yonko's right-hand man. While very strong, it has a big downside, as Zoro can only maintain this power for a short period of time.
