One Piece's Wano Country arc entered its main phase with the beginning of the Fire Festival and the Onigashima Raid, led by the Straw Hat Pirates and the Akazaya Nine. The goal of the raid was to take the head of Yonko Kaido and Orochi, and to liberate Wano Country from their clutches.
As expected of such a massive war arc, there were fights all over. While some delivered, others didn't live quite up to the expectations. That said, the fights that did deliver were simply some of One Piece's very best. Here are the best fights that fans got to witness throughout the raid on Onigashima during the Wano Country arc.
10 Killer Versus Basil Hawkins
Killer took on Basil Hawkins in an interesting fight shortly after being sent down from the rooftop. Although Hawkins initially aimed to fight both Kid and Killer, the number 2 of the crew took it upon himself and fought Hawkins in an intense battle.
Thanks to his trickery, Hawkins was able to keep Killer on the back foot throughout the fight and, at the same time, use Kid as a shield. Eventually, Killer crushed him by severing his left arm and opening up a way for Kid to win.
9 Jinbe Versus Who's Who
Jinbe fought his very first battle as a member of the Straw Hat Pirates during the Wano Country arc when he took on Who's Who of the Beasts Pirates Tobiroppo.
Although the fight was rather short, the action choreography was nothing short of amazing. It also managed to deliver some exposition on characters such as Nika, which made it even more interesting. Jinbe ended up defeating Who's Who rather comfortably with Onigawara Seiken.
8 Yamato Versus Kaido
Kaido's son, Yamato, took him on in battle after Luffy's first defeat to the Yonko. To keep Kaido from killing everyone else on the island, Yamato took him on atop the rooftop and showed the fans his hybrid form, along with his ability to use Conqueror's Haki.
The fight included some great action paneling and also gave the fans a look into Yamato's past, as Kaido was held back exactly until Luffy returned to face him in combat.
7 Zoro Versus King
After receiving a magic recovery drug from the doctors of Zou, Zoro returned to full strength following his defeat to Yonko Kaido and took on King the Wildfire in combat. The fight saw Zoro struggle through the majority of the battle and pushed to a near-death state by King, thanks to his incredible Lunarian powers.
To counter him, Zoro eventually figured out his weaknesses and also awakened Conqueror's Haki. By doing so, he was able to defeat King in a very convincing manner.
6 Kid and Law Versus Big Mom
Shortly after returning from the rooftop, Kid and Law teamed up against Big Mom in a fight to take down the old era for good and rise as the powerful next generation.
Although Big Mom held the advantage through the majority of the fight, Kid and Law tapped into their Awakenings soon and managed to deal deadly blows to the Yonko. With that, the two eventually triumphed; however, it came at the cost of every bit of energy in their bodies.
5 Akazaya Nine Versus Kaido
The Akazaya samurai got their chance to fight Kaido before anyone on the rooftop of Onigashima. Although the start to their fights was very impressive and they managed to hurt Kaido quite a bit, it didn't hold much weight as Kaido shrugged it off as meaningless damage.
Their loyalty to Oden was impressive and certainly moved the fans. However, they were crushed by the wrath of the Yonko shortly after.
4 Robin Versus Black Maria
Nico Robin finally got her first proper one-on-one fight after the Skypiea arc when she took on Black Maria of the Tobiroppo in a fight. As expected, fighting someone worth 480 million berries was quite a task yet Robin delivered.
By using techniques such as Gigante Fleur, Fishman Karate, and eventually, her strongest form called Demonio Fleur, Robin was able to win her fight against Maria and completely crush her in the process.
3 Sanji Versus Queen
Sanji fought his best fight in the Wano Country arc against Queen the Plague of the Beasts Pirates. The fight was certainly one of the most incredible ones in the arc, as not only did it deliver on some amazing action, but it also had strong character writing for Sanji.
By solving his inner conflict, Sanji crushed Queen in combat by using his utterly incredible powers. He defeated his opponent with little effort, showing that he was far stronger than the Yonko Commander in combat.
2 Worst Generation Versus Yonko
The Worst Generation followed after the Akazaya Nine on the rooftop, where they took on Kaido and Big Mom at the same time. Although they got to show viewers what they were capable of very well, they didn't manage to do anything significant until the very end.
The fight saw the Worst Generation throw almost everything that they had at the Yonko, yet fail to bring them down. In the end, the group split the Yonko up. Kid, Killer, Law, and Zoro took care of trouble downstairs, and Luffy took on Kaido in a one-on-one fight on the roof.
1 Luffy Versus Kaido
Luffy's fight against Kaido is, undoubtedly, one of the very best fights that he's ever fought, if not the best. The clash saw him use his newly learned Ryuo, tap into the power of Conqueror's Haki, and even awaken his Devil Fruit to take Kaido down.
Luffy lost to Kaido twice on the rooftop, which added to the stakes of the fight. He also faced death once and then returned as the next Joyboy. Eventually, Luffy crushed Kaido in combat with the might of Gear 5 using Bajrang Gun.
