One Piece anime is currently airing episodes adapting the Egghead arc. Fans were concerned about whether the staff at Toei would give it the same treatment as Wano. However, the studio cleared all the doubts when they released some of the best episodes in the anime. The anime has finally reached the point where someone betrays the Straw Hats and the satellites.

The traitor's identity remains unknown, but according to Shaka's calculations, it has to be another satellite. This makes sense considering that the Seraphim refused to obey orders from other satellites. With things at an exciting point, fans can't wait to find out what happens next. Unfortunately, they will have to wait for a week as the One Piece anime is going to release a special episode covering the Yonko of the past and present. So, the question is, what exactly can fans expect from the episode?

What We Know So Far

Yonko In One Piece

The episode is titled "Making History! The Turbulent Old and New Four Emperors." According to the preview released in Episode 1108, fans can expect to see all the pirates who serve among the Four Emperors. This means even those who have passed away and have the title taken away from them.

The episode will feature the following characters:

  • Edward Newgate (Whitebeard)
  • Kaido
  • Charlotte Linlin (Big Mom)
  • Shanks
  • Blackbeard
  • Monkey D. Luffy
  • Buggy

The episode will be released on June 16th, 2024, and the next One Piece episode will be released a week later.

Who Were The Old Yonko

The old Yonko ruled the seas for years and not many dared to challenge their authority. Each of them had their own territories and there was not much infighting.

Whitebeard

Old Whitebeard

Whitebeard was known as the strongest pirate alive, which meant that he was above the likes of Shanks, Kaido, and everyone else. He earned this title when Roger was still alive, which makes it all the more impressive. Whitebeard was a man of principles, and he made sure that everyone adhered to them.

I'm just a human with one heart.

At the time of his debut, Whitebeard was suffering from many health issues, so he could no longer fight as freely, but fans got a glimpse of what he could do in the Marineford arc. Whitebeard used his Gura Gura no Mi to destroy a large part of the island and inflict many casualties on the Marines. While he had access to Haki, he could not use it due to his failing health.

Kaido

Kaido's dragon form

Kaido was the captain of the Beasts Pirates, who ruled over Wano for years before his eventual defeat. From a young age, Kaido was exposed to wars, which affected his way of thinking, leading to his belief that people could only be equal in war.

Kaido could use all three types of Haki and an extremely powerful Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit. The combination of the two made him nearly invincible. Even a talented fighter like Luffy needed help from others to beat Kaido.

Big Mom

Big Mom

Abandoned as a child, Big Mom didn't let her insecurities stop her progress. She joined the Rocks Pirates and made a name for herself. When the crew was beaten in God Valley, she started her own crew.

Big Mom's moods made her a ticking time bomb. There was no way to tell what she would do if she got slightly upset. Big Mom ate the Soru Soru no Mi, which gave her the power to control souls. Besides her Devil Fruit, she had immense physical strength and could use every type of Haki.

Shanks

shanks one piece characters that might make a move in 2024

Shanks is the only old Yonko who has managed to survive and uphold his position. He is normally calm, but when he gets angry, there is no stopping him. Unlike the other Yonko (both new and old), Shanks does not have a Devil Fruit, instead solely relying on his Haki.

Shanks' monstrous Haki allows him to knock out individuals without raising a finger. His Conqueror's Haki release was potent enough to scare a Marine Admiral. If that wasn't enough, he can even stop an opponent from using Future Sight.

The New Generation

So far, three new characters have become Yonko, namely, Blackbeard, Luffy, and Buggy. Blackbeard became a Yonko after beating the remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates in the Payback War. Buggy and Luffy didn't become Yonko until after the events of the Wano Country arc.

Blackbeard is one of the most dangerous individuals in One Piece. He is the only known person who has two Devil Fruits. His past remains a mystery, but it will be cleared up in the upcoming arcs. Luffy was named a Yonko after he took down Kaido in an epic battle on Onigashima. This resulted in Luffy's bounty being increased to 3 billion berries. The result of the fight consolidated his position among the truly elite pirates of the current era. Like Luffy, Buggy was named as one of the Yonko just before the story entered the Final Saga. Buggy's inclusion raised many eyebrows, but it was revealed that the Marines had been fooled into believing that he had founded the Cross Guild and had Mihawk and Crocodile working for him.
