The following contains spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1079, "The Red Hair Pirates — An Empero's Crew," by Eiichiro Oda, translated by Stephen Paul available in English from Viz Media.

One Piece 1079 was a shocking chapter for the fans to witness and didn't take them to too many places, as One Piece often does. The chapter was only focused on two ongoing events. A lot of the focus was given to the satellite of Vegapunk who was recently revealed to be the traitor, York.

The other half of the chapter focused solely on the majestic clash in the New World between the Chief of the Red Hair Pirates, Shanks, and the three billion berri Worst Generation man spearheading the Kid Pirates, Eustass Kid. It is safe to say that none of the fans expected One Piece 1079 to be as monumental and shocking as it was and it easily goes down in history as one of the best in the entire story for many reasons.

York's Plan

One Piece chapter 1079 began on Egghead Island and this is what most fans expected to happen. Fans did not get to see the current events on Egghead, however. Instead, Oda delivered a flashback that explained how York pulled off her betrayal. When the Labophase Frontier Dome closed, York explained to the Seraphims that she is now being targeted by the Government as well, as they intend to wipe her out along with all the other Vegapunk bodies. To remedy that, she decided to go down a different route. York decided that she would kill every single Vegapunk body, along with every living soul on the island, with the exception of Stella and herself. These orders were directly given to S-Bear, S-Hawk, S-Shark, and S-Snake.

York then went on to tell S-Snake to petrify her in front of everyone so she has a perfect alibi, and later, unpetrify her so she can go about her secret mission. She also mentioned that she does not want one specific part of the laboratory to be destroyed and while this could be the old Devil Fruit laboratory in the basement, fans are not yet sure what it is exactly. Soon after, all the Seraphims set out on their mission and the fans know how exactly things proceeded from there onwards.

Blackbeard Pirates On Egghead Island

Another interesting event that fans saw unfold in the chapter was one of the ships of the Blackbeard Pirates pulling up on Egghead Island. It is unclear if this ship belongs to Yonko Blackbeard himself or one of his 10 Titanic Captains. It must be noted, however, that this person cannot be weak or they won't add to any tension in the arc itself. As such, the person who just arrived on Egghead Island can only either be Blackbeard or Aokiji, a former member of the Marines. Fans recently saw Blackbeard fight against Trafalgar Law in the New World where he declared that he would take all of his Road Poneglyphs.

The two then went on to engage in an earth-shattering duel on a nearby island where Law seemed to have the upper hand. Since then, fans have not seen Blackbeard in action. Given that the incident happened on the same day that Luffy arrived on Egghead Island, it is unlikely that the ship that pulled on Egghead Island is Blackbeard's. It is more likely for this person to be Aokiji, however, what exactly he wants from the island and those on it isn't known to the fans just yet. It is safe to say that this was the weaker part of the chapter as what followed left fans in a state of awe.

Shanks Vs Kid

One Piece 1079 then turned eyes to Elbaf in the New World, and this was the biggest part of the chapter, without a doubt. Kid, who fans last saw approaching the mainland, prepared a powerful rail gun technique called Damned Punk that he aimed at the nine ally ships of Red-Haired Shanks. Immediately, Shanks used his Color of Observation to sense Kid's killing intent. He then showcased his ability to see the future and saw all his ally ships destroyed and his allies dead. Of course, given that Shanks would want to protect all of his allies, he sprung forth into action immediately leaving off the island and shocked Kid with his sudden appearance.

Shanks then proceeded to unleash a powerful blast of the Color of the Supreme King Haki that fans would be well aware of. This technique is named Divine Departure and it is the same technique that Roger once used on Kozuki Oden when they fought in the Grand Line. While Oden was able to take the brunt of the attack, Kid did not stand a chance. The vast majority of the Kid Pirates succumbed to the Conqueror's Haki of Shanks. Meanwhile, Kid's rail gun was utterly decimated and Killer, who tried to help Kid, was completely taken out. Meanwhile, the Captain of the Kid Pirates was completely knocked out and severely injured just with one attack from Yonko Shanks. Immediately after, Dorry and Broggy continued the assault and destroyed Victoria Punk, the flagship of the Kid Pirates, and they all sunk to the bottom of the ocean. It was then made clear by the narrator that, on this day, in the New World, the Kid Pirates were completely eradicated by one man – Red-Haired Shanks.
