The latest entry in the Oddworld video game series, Oddworld: Soulstorm, was released earlier this year back in April. It is a sequel to Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty and was developed and published by Oddworld Inhabitants as a re-imagining of the previous Oddworld game in the series called Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus.

Oddworld: Soulstorm is a side-scrolling platform game where players take on the role of the alien main character Abe in his goal to rescue his Mudokon brethren from the oppressive Glukkons. The game continued the story from New 'n' Tasty while building upon the gameplay mechanics from both Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus and Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. Recently, Oddworld Inhabitants made an announcement earlier saying that Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition was released today.

This announcement comes from Oddworld Inhabitant's official Twitter account where the developer made a post announcing the Enhanced Edition's release and the game's port for the Xbox One and the Xbox Series X/S. The game is available for players to purchase now, and the post comes with links to the Microsoft Store where they can buy the Enhanced Edition.

According to the post, Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition comes with highly improved gameplay mechanics, seven additional months of polish, improved Slig and follower AI, and more added to the game. The post even comes with a new launch trailer announcing the release of Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition which shows off some gameplay from it as well. Previous owners of the original Oddworld: Soulstorm will receive the Enhanced Edition as a free upgrade to the game.

Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition will also include brand new content for players to enjoy in the game. Vykkers Labs will be available to the Xbox versions of the game, and Toby's Escape will be available on PlayStation and the Epic Games Store for players to purchase. Toby's Escape will focus on the character Toby who appeared in Oddworld: Soulstorm. Players will get to experience Toby's journey and see how he escaped from RuptureFarms and became the train conductor they meet in the game. Both additions are described as throwbacks to the classic Oddworld short puzzle levels, with small bits of gameplay for both Vykkers Labs and Toby's Escape shown in the Enhanced Edition's launch trailer.

During the game's initial release, Oddworld: Soulstorm had received mixed reviews from critics for a variety of gameplay issues. Now that the Enhanced Edition is out, most of the previous issues are supposed to be ironed out in this version of the game. Players should be able to experience the best that the game has to offer in Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition.

Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
